So after I lost all the water weight from surgery, I lost 10lbs- all by week 1.5. Now? Nothing. I'm just past my 2 week mark now. Did I get the infamous 3 week stall early? Also sick of feeling kinda crappy multiple times per day. And who has time to eat 8x per day?? And do they really expect it to take 1/2 hour + to eat 2oz of food?? Very frustrated.

I'm super excited my doctor sent my information in on 1/7. I am praying it gets approved. I am super tired of poking myself with insulin and excited about my lifestyle change! I'm interested in hearing how long it took others to get approved and if you had any comorbidities?

I have really lost control over the past month. I’ve been snacking on junk and I find myself eating at night, Something so awful happened last month that made me very depressed and anxious. I had decided to do the surgery last summer because I was about to become a grandmother for the first time. Well my grand baby was born but he didn’t make it. Now my daughter is devastated and I feel so empty. I got to hold him before he passed away but I wanted to scream when he died but I just held it all in. I had to stay calm for my daughter. I’m scared of hurting myself with food but I have such a strong impulse to pick every few hours. I don’t know what to do. I’m sorry if this p…

Today is my 6 month surgiversary! I was really hoping to hit my 100 pounds of weight loss and a BMI less than 25 by today, but I have been slacking a bit on tracking my food and the carbs have definitely been up. On Monday I decided to get back on track and focus on food, tracking everything I was putting in my mouth and focusing on protein. My 6 month labs show I am still a bit protein deficient and iron deficient. My surgeon’s office had given me the go ahead to not take iron, due to my constipation, but looking at my labs I need it. My plan went sideways on Monday night, when my Mother-in-law suddenly died from COVID. Thankfully, due to the hubs and me being nurses, we…

Had gastric bypass on 12/14 due to acid reflux, was sleeved in 2013. This time around it’s been an incredibly tuff recovery and I was wondering if anyone has experienced the pulling and burning pain near your biggest incision area? Not sure what’s happening this time around because I never experienced this before. ?

I had gastric bypass 5/14/20 and have lost 118 pounds....everything has been going great...but in the last few weeks I’ve started getting what feels like heartburn randomly....I’ll take some calcium chews or I’ll eat and it will go away....I’m scheduled to see my doctor soon but I’m just curious if anyone else has experienced this after having the bypass? If so what did your doctor say or do to treat it?

I'm 6 weeks post op and have gained about 6lbs. I'm thinking its from not reaching my water goal but not really sure. I get about 2/2.5 16 oz. bottles down a day. Which I know is definitely not enough. Anyone have any ideas on how to get more water in? I use the flavor packets but its still hard to get down.

I have BCBS federal. I am trying to get a revision of gastric bypass originally done in 2004. They denied me because with the original surgery, I lost at least 50% of excess weight. My doctor did a peer to peer but still denied. Has anyone ever had this happen to them

Hello. I’m new to the group. I had my gastric bypass on 12/15/20. I am currently experiencing some tightness only in the left middle quadrant. When I press on the area, it sort of feels hard. I’m not having any pain. I know that this is the area where work was performed but I’m just concerned. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this normal?

Hi everyone! I'm strongly considering gastric bypass and have done consultations with 3 surgeons. One told me I qualified for the surgery and approved me and suggested the bypass. Another said surgery was an option and recommended the sleeve. The third said that medically I could qualify but he didn't recommend surgery for me as other than obesity I have no other co-morbidities. I'm 36, female, 6'1, 410 pounds. My BMI is 54 and has been around this high for at least a decade. I'm one of those "lucky" fat people who don't store fat close to internal organs and so I haven't developed significant health issues. My BP is normal, no diabetes, heart disease high chole…

I’m a previous lap-band patient gone haywire, thus causing it to be removed several years ago so I’m larger now than when I had it placed. I’m going to have surgery. Researching options and costs right now. How many of you would recommend the mini bypass? If so, why and is there a difference in percentage of weight lost and cost? I know that it has less chance of surgical complications. Thanks in advance.

Just wondering how long people where still having to take protein shakes after starting the soft food diet? I have had a brutal time finding a protein powder or drink that isn't too sweet or doesn't make me nauseous. I had a super hard time with protein shakes before surgery too but it has become way worse. Hoping to be able to hit my protein goals with real food sooner vs later. I tried a new protein shake the past two days and instead of loosing weight, I actually gained 6lbs in bloating. As well, I felt like my throat thickened and I had a hard time swallowing for both the days. I think I am counting that a mild allergic reaction?

I have had abdominal pain on my left side when I am standing for about a week. The pain goes away as soon as I sit down or lay down. The area with pain is tender to touch. No fever, no nausea and no redness. Doctor recommended to take Flexiril. So far, there are no changes in pain after taking Flexiril. I am curious to know if anyone in this forum has had the same problem or taken Flexiril for muscle relaxant. Thanks.

It is official! Yowza! My surgery has been scheduled for February 22, 2021! After months and months of checking off all the boxes in what felt like slow motion, it now seems like someone finally pressed the fast forward button! I am jumping for joy while pushing the panic button at the same time! ACK! I am in search of book recommendations, items you found invaluable after surgery and any other advice you are willing to share!

Hi! Anyone have chest/shoulder pain not immediately after surgery? I am 2 months post op and it started 2 weeks ago and is getting more frequent and lasting longer. Gas meds don’t work, Tylenol works a tiny bit. I have one pain under/behind my left clavicle that hurts mostly when compressed or when I open my jaw. The other pain is behind the incision on my chest (right under bra line on left side), like behind the bone. It’s where the sternum and ribs meet and radiates backwards to my spine. The weird thing is - my spine gets pins and needles when I have this pain. No weakness in my limbs. I can exercise through the pain, no problem. No shortness of breath or fever. Thes…

I joined this forum in hopes of finding like minded people! I’m having gastric bypass on Jan 4, 2021. Some of my emotions have been: shame-shouldn’t I be able to do this without surgery? And will people think this is just an easy fix? excitement- I have worked soooooo incredibly hard to get to this point. fear- what if I am one of those who actually fail and regain my weight? What if I can’t handle the emotional rollercoaster after (this pre-op diet is no joke though!)? identity crisis- I have been thin for maybe 2 years out of my 38 years. My weight has been an excuse for people not liking me or not being able to do things. It has been a part of me…

I am almost 2 years out from my surgery. I got down to 163, but I’m back up to 170. I’ve been working out, but I feel like I’m stuck. Any motivational advice? I tried to find diet/portion meal suggestions, but most advice is aimed towards pre-op or immediate post-op. I won’t let myself go back, and I’m so mad I gain ANY weight back in the first place. I know. Few things like slowing down my chewing, or lowering my calorie intake, will help. Any advice is welcomed and appreciated!

So I was blessed with our rainbow baby a year after my surgery. And while pregnant I could tell my stomach size adjusted to hold more to support a baby. Like the farther along I got the more my stomach would tell me it’s hungry or require more meals more frequently and towards the end I would eat bigger meals. PLEASE DONT LECTURE ME I WASNT GOING TO STARVE MY GROWING BABY. But I knew my body would only tell me I was hungry if it needed it but anyway I’m breastfeeding and supplementing since I can’t produce enough milk for him. I was wanting to do a liquid diet for awhile to help my tummy “return to normal” or help me get back to smaller meals and no carbs. I didn’t start …

Hello, I’m nearly six months post RNY. I’ve had a rough road because my surgeon nicked my spleen during bypass so I’ve been better. Everything I eat makes me sick. I eat clean, slow, and small portions. I’m quite depressed because I do want to eat. Protein shakes don’t make me sick, but doc said if I don’t eat solids he will put me on feeding tube. Reversal of bypass not possible since 80 % removed due to mass and small tumors. Has anyone else experienced nausea after eating for this long?

For those of your who have had RNY Bypass... who here experiences dumping syndrome and who has been lucky enough to avoid it? Months or years out, who can enjoy a regular sandwich with cheese and mayo, pizza, ice cream, cookies, charcuterie plate, sweet cocktail (all in moderation) and who here suffers anytime they don't adhere to a strict post-op clean diet? How much could you eat before compared to what you can eat now. Do you feel "normal" at some point after surgery, or is there always an odd feeling as you go about your day and when you eat once you have surgery? I want your deets - the victories and the miseries!

I had Rouen-y 10 years ago. I have had two kids since then and have regained all of my weight. Although that is a problem it's not the one that immediately concerns me. For a year I have been trying to figure out what is wrong with me. My symptoms are: sternum pain, chest pain and pressure, feeling of fullness when I haven't eaten anything, excessive painful bloating and gas, extreme sweating, racing heart, heart palpitations, and difficulty taking a deep breath. I have been to an allergist because they thought I had asthma, nope. I had an EGD and upper GI study done, they found little acid and a small hiatal hernia. The gastric bypass doctor put me on omeprazole which he…

Hi. 3 days post op. Had RNY on 21st. Went home on 23rd (today). I'm on 7 days of full liquids right now. So far I only had protein shakes, yogurt, clear broth, and Gatorade (G2 in the hospital and Zero at home). I'm still very gassy from the surgery. Pain is manageable. I'm not getting even close to 48oz daily but tolerating well what I do drink. When can I expect first bowel movement?

Well we had a major snowstorm here in the Southern Tier of NY with over 4 ft of snow-I think shoveling all day yesterday put me over the top with weight loss lol. I woke up this morning and FINALLY got that scale to move under the 200 lb mark (no stall but just a slow down in the last week or so). I started a new job a few weeks ago at a factory and adding more hours this last week for Christmas with overtime. I am on my feet with some heavy lifting and physical activity but it's helping with the exercise part. I had gained about a lb a week ago and figured it was for the muscle content with the increased movement to my daily normal activity but now it's going down f…

Surgery 03/2013 280lbs I've managed to gain back all my weight. I do not feel restrictions when I eat anymore. Possibly medication related. Possible bad habits returned. I bit the bullet and called the WL clinic because I don't know what options are available in my area. I've done all kinds of research. Nurse told me they rarely do any revisions and never have done a band over gastric (I was really wanting that) She mentioned possible medical weight loss such as appetite suppressants etc... I would rather have a surgery than to take any weightloss pills with side effects.I am wondering if any of you who had a regain have gotten any medical weightloss options that wor…

Dear all I am 8 weeks post op today and my program and dietician have given me a meal plan that has bread in for breakfast and lunch. I have not followed it until now. I have lost about 25lbs and they say this is because I am not consuming bread. It is about 2 slices per meal so 4 per day. I must also say that I am not a bread person. I feel like this is wrong. Does anyone else have such a program?

I am about 10 lbs from goal, so I decided to splurge on some nicer tops since 1- you can only see my tops on my work video conference calls and 2- I don't think I am going to go down another size. NSV 1: I'm in a freaking MEDIUM! at 5'10 - holy cow!!! And this isn't a "in specific loose cut tops I can squeeze into a medium" - I ordered a bunch of nice work tops and I fit into ALL the mediums. NSV 2: I bought a pair of knee high boots. They are wide calf, but a narrow wide calf if that makes sense. My legs have always been where I carry a lot of my weight so I've never really been able to wear true knee high boots. They fit perfect (even over pants) and th…
