Hi, I just had my conversion to bypass from sleeve two days ago and today I had my first vowel movement. Great I thought! Now, rather than passing gas I run to the bathroom just in case it’s not. I’ve had about 3-4 small bouts of loose stools today. Is this normal at all?

This is probably one of the most important question I'll pose about WLS-can I get some good veggie-dip recommendations? Bottled, homemade, etc. I honestly can't stand the taste of fat-free dressing (especially ranch) and would rather eat them plain. There has to be some good choices out there for veggies. Thanks all.

What are/were your macros 2 months out? 3? I'm reading many conflicting/differentiating diets, especially in terms of fat. (Does it help? Does it harm? I have no idea anymore.) Thanks all,.

Precursor to post: I know everyone has different plans, ideas, concepts, etc. That's cool and I'm not looking for one specifically. Cliff notes- my nutritionist sucks. I'm trying to get an idea of how many calories I should be eating around the 6-8 week period (and beyond). Anecdotally, how many calorie were you guys eating this far out and beyond? I'm gathering data. Thanks!

I am 3 months out of the gastric bypass. Is it OK to add fruit and fruit juice to my diet or will the sugar cause me to dump?

  6. I'm worried I'm eating too much. I'm eating around 800-900 calories

Hey everyone I made it home  today. I’m in a lot of pain but just tying to not think about it. Hopefully I will start feeling better in a few days. I’ll keep posting my updates as the come.

Hi all, 5 weeks post RNY and the scale hasn't moved since week 3. Getting really disappointed! Weirdly enough I still also feel hunger (I think?) sometimes I know it's head hunger, but other times I really know I have to eat. I'm managing around 4-5 tablespoons of food, which feels like far too much, is it? I also rarely feel full. I don't get any full signs like nose runs or hiccups, so I never really know if I'm satisfied or not. My surgeon told me he gave me a lot of restriction but I can't feel it. I can even drink big mouthfuls of water no problem. So worried I've done something wrong and messed up already

Hey guys, I’m fortunate enough to have my Mom stay with me to help me after surgery. But my question is, I have a 4 & 2 year old and I’m wondering how long I should ask her to stay? Appreciate the advice!

Hello all, It's been a long time since my last post. It's good to see all of the new folks that have found their way to this forum. It was extremely helpful to me both pre & post surgery. My 2 year anniversary is right around the corner (10/8). It was one of the best decisions that I've ever made. I've lost 120+ lbs though I've been in a stall since the COVID-19 lockdowns began. It's been 9 months or so since I've had any kind of pain or dumping. At this point, I can eat just about anything though my stomach is still sensitive first thing in the morning. I can tell that my stomach has stretched some b/c I can eat more in one sitting now. I plan to try a 'reset' a…

It’s exactly one week before my big surgery date. I started this journey back in May 2020, but I’ve dreamed about losing this weight all my life. I’ve always been big since elementary school and my weight has steadily crept up each and every year. I maxed out at 360 pounds back in 2002 and have had some success at losing weight, but for the most part I would just gain it all back and then some. I got down to 268 for my wedding through hard work and a trainer. I exercised 4 times a week and would do squats with a 40 lb vest and was eating an insane amount of protein. I would have a 12 egg white omelet each morning and several protein shakes and pre workout shakes during th…

So my ENT diagnosed me with silent GERD. Never heard of such a thing. Had a revision in May 2020 due to hernia and GERD. Had to revised twice more in June due to some complications. Have been feeling fine then boom, come July I feel a lump In my throat. No heartburn. At my ent visit for another issue with dizziness she did a scope and said it’s acid in the throat. Not the esophagus. ?‍♀️ ?‍♀️ Don’t have a single symptom of typical heartburn just this lump. Feels like something stuck. Like a pill. I can drink and eat with no issues. It’s getting worse so she put me on Pepcid 40 At night time. Anyone have this. What did you do for it. It’s so annoying.

My surgery gastric bypass surgery was August 4, 2020. It was without complication and I healed as expected (two weeks back to work). I have been faithful to the diets pre and post op until about 2 weeks ago. I have had food cravings throughout this process and was hoping I would have been one of those individuals who has the cessation of cravings. I am averaging between 500 and 1000 kcals a day. I was just advanced to stage 4, regular diet. I am concerned that I am not going to be successful at this as my weakness, low calorie count and deprivation of carbohydrates has sent me into a dangerous whirlwind of eating. I am petrified that I have overstretched my new pouch and …

I'm having some serious trouble knowing what to eat and keeping anything aside from juice (sugar free) Or flavored water (Crystal Light) Down. Anything else makes my pouch undulate in a weird way and automatically i feel ill. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I .. could try for stage 4? I can't eat anything really, not even mashed potatoes. My Doctors have only pushed liquids and I'm even having trouble with Protein shakes. They seem to just dismiss me when I say something's wrong.

I feel like crying. Really let myself down. I can't believe I've been so stupid. 15 days post op and I thought I'd try a small McDonalds (6 nuggets and plain hamburger). I feel very ill now. And it wasn't even worth it. Was disgusting. Argh so mad at myself!

Hi I'm just curious to know if anyone else suffers with painful wind after eating? The belching not the other end ? I suffer terrible after every meal. In fact I'm getting like i don't want to eat. At the moment I'm away on a break for a couple of days. I've just eaten out at a restaurant. I had 2 mushrooms, a spoon of beans and 1/2 a slice of toast.......i give up...im only 6 month in and still pretty much in recovery but is it normal just to eat so little but still have wind pains. What's your take on it?

I couldn't find a thread like this-apologies if this is a duplicate. I'd like to see the smoothies wls patients are making. I'm finding a lot of excellent green smoothies online but just *loadeD* with sugar from all the fruit. That said, I don't want to drink spinach juice. So post your recipes here-thanks!

Any suggestions for supplements that helped with loose skin and/or scar repair? For example, I know Vitamin C helps with collagen production. Suggestions welcome.

What do you do when food sits in your chest after you eat? Did you wait for it to go down? Will it go down? It makes me panic and I end up making myself throw up. I'm a month out. Will this continue to happen or will eventually food go down smoothly like its normally suppose to.

I've been less than impressed with, specifically, my dietician. I feel this is arguably the most crucial person of your time and I find mine...lackluster. My appts are short, clipped, and she seems constantly in a hurry or irritated when I ask questions. She doesn't return phone calls (like when I wasn't able to make my 3 week appt and made several calls attempting to change it to a phone/telecom.) No one ever response, despite voicemails left. This was right at the moment where I was transitioning stages! I finally sent an email saying I wanted a call back because I needed nutritional guidance. She sent a short message and I got a short phone call, where…

Hello All, I had my RNY on 8/4 and lost almost 25 lbs in two weeks. At week 3 my weight loss stalled and I keep gaining and losing the same 5 lbs. from 175-180. I’m only 5ft 4 so this is way too soon for this! I eat about 600 calories a day, hitting the 50-60grams in protein and usually 50 carbs or so. I’m not cleared for exercise but in all honestly I’ve been lazy and tired so no exercise. Where could I be going wrong?!

Hi. I am a new member/user of this site. One week and 2 days post bypass surgery. I am looking for a site where people with similar situations discuss the positive and not so positive changes from having the surgery as well as long-term successes and challenges. If you have found this site beneficial, you can easily answer the following two questions without pause. Time is to precious to waste and I want to make sure I am in a good place. Thank you.

Excuse my venting. Im lying awake and obsessing over if all this is normal or not. I'm 4 weeks and 2 days out. I can drink water normally, with cramping only if I accidentally "gulp" (habit). No foods make me sick, and I can already eat fruits and vegetables with no pain and no consequence at all. (Please no lectures, I've definitely had some weak moments and tried eating "normal" food. Never any desserts, fried foods, etc. More like the foods we'd get on week 6.) Nothing. No pain, cramping, nada. I get the full/satisfied feeling and it wears off after an hour or two. Then I'm hungry again. I never feel like the 4 TBSP per meal is enough, and I definitely d…

Hi all. I'm having an endoscopy on Monday. I've had one done before but I woke up with the tube down my throat. They said this was normal as they were finishing up but it left me with nightmares for a little over a week and a sore throat for about the same amount of time. I let the office know about this when they called me to schedule the appointment and they said that I would have the general anesthesia meaning that I would be knocked out for the duration of the procedure. I will also let the staff know before they take me back. What has been your experience with the endoscopy?
