I had my RNY back on October 16th 2019 and I started at 256lbs now I'm 170lbs. But my average monthly loss is roughly 17 pounds a month. Is this good or average ? My goal weight is 150. And I'm almost there. I am also 5'9" .

I'm in the Bay area, and all 7 counties are now under a shelter in place order due to the Coronovirus for the next 3 weeks. That basically means that except for critical activities we need to stay home and we need to stay at least 6 ft from other people (non family). The good news is I have a job where I can work from home. The bad news is one of my major binge eating triggers is boredom, or really sitting on the couch watching tv. I'm working during the day (and its been really busy) and I've been walking the dog when I can (this order happened to come just as we are having a series of rain storm)s. I can't go shopping, movies, gym, etc... Thoughts on ways …

Sorry for the tmi. I'm 11 days post op from a one anastomosis gastric bypass and have just managed to go to the bathroom for the first time since the morning of surgery. Is it normal for there to be a significant amount of dark blood the first time you go? I read up that it could be old blood in the intestinal tract from the surgery but it could be a staple leak or bleed internally too? I don't have pain or any symptoms, such as fever or difficulty eating/drinking so I'd like to know if it's common before I call my surgeon's emergency line tonight? Thsnk you ❤

Do anyone have any suggestions on how to keep gas off of your stomach? I have been eating a great deal of salads I purchase from Walmart (marketside chopped salad mix) that have cabbage, spinach, broccoli and many other nutritious vegetable in it but it gives me awful gas pains and gas period. I have tried Gas-x maximum strength and it helps some but do anyone suggest another alternative, should I take something like a Bean-o before eating! It is embarrassing because it smells so bad! I am 3mths post-op and have been doing great! I am just embarrassed by the stench and thank goodness for Poopourri toilet spray! #staysafemyfriends

I have 10 pounds to go but now instead of losing I'm watching my weight stall and slowly creep up even. I don't feel that it's safe to go to the gym as my gym is crowded. I'm staying home, working from home and not doing my usual running around. I am much more sedentary now. There is much less access to fresh foods, store shelves are empty and we had to stock up on pasta, rice and canned food as a backup. Not to mention I seem to be eating my feelings more and more. Im really scared that my weight will continue to creep up! I know what everyone will say, do yoga on YouTube and stop stress eating. OK, easier said than done! This is a really scary time and I'm already…

I had my surgery 6 weeks ago; I had a bit of a set back before and after the surgery; I had the flu before and then I got sick with the flu again 3 weeks after the surgery (I think it was flu...who knows, they would not test me). Anyway, I was full with 500 calories a day, and was just trying to hit my protein and fluids. In the last week my energy has really rebounded! Which is great, and I am walking over 10,000 steps a day (4 plus miles). I find myself getting hungry much faster! I am eating around 650 to 700 calories, but I am often hungry. Not sure if this is really hunger because of moving so much more, or stress/time on my hands because of the virus and wor…

Hello everyone. I’m a newbie but not completely new. I had a sleeve in 2013 and lost 118lbs. I regained 70 so I revised to bypass on 3/11. I’m 2 weeks out today and things seem to be going really well. I haven’t had any vomiting or discomfort really of any kind with my pouch. The worst part has been the pain from the procedure. I’m starting to feel more like myself now but I’m still really weak and tired. I’m able to eat about a half cup of food at this point. So I’m wondering, is that normal? How much should I be able to eat right now? I feel like 1/2 cup is a lot. Also, I’ve lost 13lbs and then regained 2 when I started purées. I do know that with a sleeve there is “the…

I am not absorbing fat, and this has driven my vitamin D levels to the lowest they have ever been. Has anyone else struggled with this? Any tricks for increasing absorption? I am on 50,000 units twice a week now. I take Vit D with a meal that contains fat (nuts, peanut butter) and I really don't know what else to do. I am a bit concerned for my bone health as I already have osteopenia. Do pancreatic enzymes help?

I had RNY in 2015. I had great results - i started at 254 and had been holding steady at around 128 . I was very pleased where I was. Last fall, I became very ill, not holding anything down. I dropped to 117 and was in and out of hospital and they couldn’t find anything wrong with me. I called my RNY surgeon and asked her to look through my recent test results to see if she could find something other doctors were missing. She said all test looked good, but, suggested i see a digestive disorder specialist who they share a clinic with. I saw the digestive disorder dr and through some test, found that I had a bought with gastroparesis. Finally, a diagnosis and because of dia…

Hi guys I’m Celebrating a new weight bracket today! I never really set myself a goal as such but I always said around 9-10 stone (126 - 140lbs) & today I weighed 10 stone 10lbs! (150lbs) So close to those goals now! However, I won’t be weighing myself again until 1st April 2020! I decided to only get the scales out once a month from now on. I was starting to get really obsessed and panicky about the numbers on the scale all of the time so I thought it’s best for my mental health to see them only once a month. Plus, weight fluctuates so weighing daily is just silly at this point in my journey really! Yesterday the skirt was a NSV for me.…

I’m just over a year out from bypass and generally have had smooth sailing. However, today I had a Cobb salad for lunch. Not 45 mins later I was running (hobbling) to the restroom, sweating, groaning, clenching my cheeks and praying I’d make it (I did, I’m such a big girl) A few hours after that, my blood sugar tanked and I was shaking, heart racing, dizzy, etc. The only thing I can think is maybe the dressing had loads of sugar/fat in it that I’m not used to. Regardless, it was a gentle (ahem) reminder that my insides still make the rules. If you need me, I’ll be drinking about 60 more Oz of water. What a day...

With us eating low carbs and high protein and probably falling into ketosis, has anyone experienced a keto rash? I had a rash on my arm a week ago and today have one on my neck. I heard someone on YouTube mention "keto rash" and had never heard of it. Just wondering if my rash is temporarily something else or if in fact it could be "keto rash".

I'm so confused. I thought that the surgery was supposed to almost eliminate heartburn. It hasn't. I go back and forth with nausea that is so bad, I can't walk or move. I'm trying to get my water and protein in, but it just causes the heartburn to ramp up 50 notches. To top it all off, my big stomach is growling like there is no tomorrow, yet I have zero hunger or cravings. Is any of this normal? I'm starting to drift into that "what did I do" scenario...and that won't be a good mental battle for sure. I'm feeling very lost for sure. Thanks in advance for any help and/or advice

Hello, I was preparing for the gastric sleeve when my pre-op EGD scope showed I have Barrett's esophagus, with dysplasia (pre-cancerous). My WLS surgeon said I need to treat the Barrett's first and then strongly suggested I have the Gastric Bypass instead of the sleeve because of several reasons -- GERD is usually eliminated with bypass and worse with sleeve (acid is the cause of the Barrett's), and the stomach is left if needed for esophageal cancer surgery (worst case scenario, obviously). My first priority is getting the Barrett's treated. Then, in four to six weeks, having the WLS surgery, which is recommended to also treat Barrett's (from an obesity pers…

So I had rny March 27,2019. I’ve already posted about being pregnant and yes I am aware it’s recommended to wait 12-18months after surgery. So i don’t want any lectures. But I know pregnancy usually comes with acid reflux or heartburn. Well since the surgery I haven’t had any but now my tummy has a burning sensation. That thankfully hasn’t been traveling up to my throat. Today is the first day I felt it in my chest. I am currently around 9 weeks so the nausea is starting to slowly going away. But now that the nausea is going away the acid reflux or heartburn is starting to become more noticeable/bothersome. But I didn’t know if any of you had tips on helping get rid of it…

Hi y'all, before I got my RNY I had a touch of diabetes. Hemoglobin A1C as only two points above normal with a fasting blood sugar of around 110. My FCP started me on Metformin and after three months my A1C was within normal limits. My surgeon told me to stop taking the Metformin the day before my surgery-said I wouldn't need it anymore. Well, in preparation for my three month post surgery visit the surgeon had me get some labs, and now my A1C is elevated again, and my fasting blood sugar is 117. Have any of y'all had that happen? I haven't cheated once on my diet with sugary stuff. I'm still showing ketones in my urine. So why is my glucose and A1C back up? I see th…

Good evening, Hi everybody, I'm newbie here, currently waiting for revision approval. I'm a Lap Band failure case - Had it in for 11 years (actually loved it - it was a great tool), and got to goal weight after 18 months. I kept it off without much issue, until it eroded into my stomach, and pretty much almost killed me. This was the third issue that I had with the band. Two port infections, lead to port revisions, and one MRSA infection. It was finally removed in 2015, and sadly, now I'm back up to where I was before my banding. I'm currently in my 5th month of 6 monitoring/counseling, for pre-op revision approval for bypass. Unfortunately, I've also since gained 6l…

Hello, Sorry this a a long post but I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who's had similar experiences. Has anyone had a gastric bypass that didn't work? I knew something was wrong pretty soon after my surgery as I had no restriction. I'd known all of my surgical team since 2010 when I had a gastric band. After a year of filling and un-filling and coming to the end of my free fill period (they would have cost £100 after that), the bariatric nurse and I could never reach that sweet point between nothing going through the band and so being sick all the time and no restriction at all so I knew I had to give up on this. Then in 2012, I lost 9 stone (125lb) by fol…

I asked my surgeon at my one-year checkup about stretching one's pouch, since it is often discussed on this forum. She said it is almost impossible to stretch the pouch after surgery and that this is an urban legend that has been perpetuated on the internet. So, I'm asking: Has anyone been told by their surgeon that they have definitely stretched their pouch? I want to hear from those who have personally been told that by a doctor.

I am 1 year post op bypass. A few times a week I will get a twinge often to the right of my belly button, sometimes in other places like higher up towards the stomach. It is not immediately after eating. I wouldn't say it is pain just a fairly quick ache or twinge. I am thinking it's maybe gas or part of the digestion process. I can't find that its related to a certain food or activity. I think I am still at the mind set where I am physically reminded of my surgery and maybe it's just something I pay attention to. Has anyone had this? I don't think it's a medical issue it's been ever since surgery so nothing new. Does anyone else feel anything on a weekly basis. I d…

TMI POST...Hello, I had my RNY on Tues 2/25. I'm currently on clear liquid diet only for 10 days. I've been drinking water, propel, crystal light. WELL I have very runny bowels and it's really dark. My Dr office is closed today so I'm just wondering if it's normal to be that dark? Not sure how to know if blood is mixed in and there's a problem.

Hello ... I am just finishing my 90 days of nutrition and doctor appts and getting very anxious. I have had for about 2 years now great difficulty with shortness of breath and high blood pressure, high cholesterol and sleep apnea and now hit the diabetic number when my blood is tested. I like everyone has tried lots of diets but always failed. I had never even thought of this surgery until it was suggested in November by my pulmonologist. He said my lungs were being squished and my liver was fatty and I really needed to think about it. I thought he was just a "skinny" mean doctor who had just insulted me till I took a look online and realized it was a good idea. I am…
