I went through a traumatic divorce after years of an emotionally abusive marriage. The divorce was finalised Oct 2013, but by this point I was deep in food addition, as I used food to cope.
I changed Drs in January 2019, when I was diagnosed with underactive thyroid and type 2 diabetes. This was the kick up the ass I needed to change.
At my heaviest I got to over 400lbs. I couldn't walk, could barely get out of bed.
My Dr put me on a weight loss program, having my first appointment March 1st. I was given support through a dietitian, physiotherapist and psychotherapy.
I was approved for surgery on Oct 25th 2019, but my paperwork took a few months to go through. I received my surgery date in Feb 2020.
I met my surgeon for the first time January 17th 2020. She recommended a one anastomosis gastric bypass. This was performed March 16th 2020. I spent 4 days in hospital, as 1 day post op I had a bleed from one of my port sites. My surgeon cleaned the wound out and replaced my staples bedside but after losing so much blood, my BP dropped dangerously low and it was looking like I needed a blood transfusion. Thankfully I didn't. I went home March 19th.
