I week out from RNY. Two weeks of Liquid diet and Keto found my ankles but one week after surgery gave me an even bigger blessing!!! I haven been able to wear this comfortably in about two years. Now I’m scared to wear the dern thing because I’m so used to the silicone bands I’m afraid I’ll ruin it! At least it fits!!!

I had surgery January 16th for hiatel hernia closure and at same time my gastric sleeve surgery was converted to the bypass cause my stomach kept getting lodged in the hernia. I have the symptoms of an anastomotic leakage, pain in left shoulder area off and on while eating and have to stop eating rare back in seat until it stops. For last 3 days it's done this while eating. So I googled that question and it said an anastomotic leakage is what this symptom comes from.

  6. I also want to ask If I was ever going to be able to eat sushi again. Or Chinese food. I ask because I'm one-month post-op and there are veggies I don't even tolerate yet.

Is a person that had WLS more fertile a year out than a person that doesn’t have WLS?

    Started by Guest,

Hi everyone. New to the group just starting my WLS journey. The journey started with a visit to an ortho surgeon for very bad knees. Recommended knee replacements and obviously weight loss. Being only 50yrs old I am going to focus on the weight loss and hope the knees improve greatly with weight loss. I believe with me wanting to lose over 50% of my body weight that bypass makes the most sense. I just had my consultation yesterday. My question is how much less pain, especially in the knees and feet, have you successful WLS patients experienced after 100 or more lbs lost?

Hello, I am 8 days post op and as soon as I was discharged from the hospital and got home I've been so sad and crying all the time and that's not like me at all. I'm hungry all the time too, even though I get in my fluids. I hope this is just a phase.

  11. Well it's been a great chatting with everyone. I appreciate all the answers I've received on here. I decided a couple of days ago that I personally think that I have nothing to offer anyone on this site or any other site so I decided my time was limited on here. I figured that I would wait till after my first follow up appointment, announce what happened in the office visit and the tell everyone goodbye. So goodbye y'all. I wish everyone gets to the weight goals that your shooting for. Adios.

Had RNY Monday morning. Was doing well enough to head home Tuesday afternoon. Sipped as much as I could but it's like as soon as it hits my stomach I need to burp to make it go down. It's slightly painful but overall not terrible. The incision pain is annoying at best. I feel super sluggish today on day 3 and I know that's to be expected but when does the pain of swallowing stop into the belly or the burping to get it down?

  13. I have been on Lisinopril hctz 20/25 for around 8 years. I got up from my recliner and went around 10 steps, I saw black and passed out cold. My wife said I was out around 45 seconds to a minute. I got up, I luckily landed on my back, my head hurts pretty bad from smacking the laminate flooring. I will stay up for at least 5 hrs tonight to make sure I'm alright. Wife insist that I stay up. I checked my blood pressure after sitting in the kitchen island stool. Was 72 over 68. Never even been under 100 on the lower side. I haven't taken my blood pressure medication yet, so I removed all of them for every night in my pill organizer. So I'll call my primary care physician tom…

  15. Started by LRS1983,

I had gastric bypass on Jan 15. At first I was only able to get in a few sips of water/liquid at a time. Now it seems that I can drink a lot more before getting that full feeling. Is this normal?

  16. My RNY surgery is Monday and I'm starting to freak out. My surgeon is one of the best and I'm relatively healthy otherwise so I have no real reason to worry. I had an abdominalplasty (tummy tuck) to remove skin and fix diastasis rectis (separation of ab muscles) five years ago. I've also had multiple orthopedic surgeries (hockey) and my gall bladder removed so it's not the pain I'm worried about, pain I got lol. But because of the previous abdominal surgery I'm worried there will be too much scar tissue inside and not enough skin to "blow up my stomach cavity" and will have to have an open surgery, which is such a longer harder recovery. I guess I'm curious if anyone else…

  17. Hi all, I am a 30 year old male. I previously had a gastric sleeve surgery 5 years agobut due to the massive regain of weight, I had a revision gastric bypass in February 2019. Anyways, since my lowest recorded weight and initial weight loss success in June 2019, I have since gained 7kg to date and feel like I gaining 1-2kg a week. Specifically, I have regained 6 kg since early Dec 2019 to date. Over the past 3 weeks, I have regained at least a 1kg a week. I feel like I can eat just as much, if not more, then my first gastric sleeve surgery 5 years ago. I know that the bypass is a tool only, but I am shocked in the amount I can eat and want to eat. I c…

I had surgery years ago and lost a good amount of weight and then totally fell off the wagon. I've gained weight back, but not a whole lot. I'm trying to get down to my goal weight now, but i'm losing nothing. I can't lose a pound to save my life. i'm sticking to the high protein diet that i was suppose to have followed post surgery. cut out all junk and processed foods. not snacking. i just can't lose anything at all. I've been told two different things... first is that the surgery may have ruined my metabolism. i find that hard to believe, but i've been told it a few times. and that i'm eating to few calories. if this is the case and i need to up my…

I am scheduled for my mini gastric bypass on Feb. 10th. Started the 3 week liquid diet yesterday. (3 specific meal replacement drinks and up to 250 cake of specific veggies). I think it will be doable, but man I am hungry. Anyhow, the main question I have: how long until you returned to work afterwards? My surgeon said I’d need 7-10 days off and can then go back if I’m feeling well enough. I had my gall bladder out a few years ago and they wouldn’t clear me to return for 10 days, and I felt well enough to go back after 3. How long were you guys off work? Was the recovery easy? Is jumping back into work after 7-10 days reasonable? Just for reference, I teach kindergart…

He said that beef jerky usually is hard to handle at 2 months. I have been snacking on beef jerky and peanuts since around 15 days out. I was 225 fully dressed with my jacket, knife, smartphone, change, and wallet when I was weighed. The Nurse said; there was no need to remove anything since she couldn't believe the difference since my surgery. My surgeon asked about how I'm doing with my meds, proteins and fluids, I told him all's good. He looked at my incisions and said I'm healing really fast…

  27. Started by Beast(RNY),

I’m 3 1/2 months post RNY gastric bypass and for the last month I’ve been suffering from intense pain in my butt. It’s like the bones themselves ache and every time I sit down I’m in agony. Oddly enough, it appears I have lost weight disproportionately from my backside, leaving me with very little padding left (and I’m still a big guy at 300 lbs after losing 110 lbs). My wife ordered me a special pillow for people suffering from coccyx injuries and I can’t wait for it to arrive. I’ve since read that this can happen, but this was definitely not mentioned in my ‘things to expect post-surgery’ talks with my surgeon. Then again, he didn’t mention the joint p…

I had a revision from VSG to RNY bypass on Monday, 1/13/20. I had major complications with the VSG, and that was the only option. I ended up with a pinched nerve in my left shoulder due to the position my arm was in during the long surgery, so I’ve been on painkillers a bit longer than planned. Enough back story! Today I’m on full liquids for my seconds day. Not my first time at the rodeo with the graduated diet. However, I’m having liquid poo. Cannot trust a fart (lol)! Is this a concern that I should call the dr’s line over the weekend for, or is this a common issue? I go back to his office first thing Tuesday to get my drain out. That’s the first time they’re o…

  29. My doctor prescribed me Ozempic, which is an injectable diabetes drug that has been shown to be an effective weight loss drug. Like surgery, it makes you feel full quickly and blocks absorption. I’ve been taking it since July and, based on what I’ve read of post-surgery experiences, it has many effects and symptoms in common with surgery. Has anyone else taken Ozempic? What has your experience been?

Well I guess I wasn’t my hair is thinning terribly so this month I started drinking Protein shakes again. How long does it take for the Protein levels to build back up in your blood and how long till my hair grows back? Should I drink extra shakes to get some extra Proteins for it to build up faster? Or how many shakes a day is to much? (I drink Premier Protein Shakes with 30g) figured this would be a good time to do a liquid”ish” diet where I drink shakes during the day and one real meal for dinner. 38. Well so far my stomach has handled all the foods that I've swallowed over the last week. Of course around 1oz to 2oz at a time well chewed (otherwise noted weights). 4oz of air-fryed Oldbay seasoned salmon fillet fits perfect, 3oz of air-fryed lemon pepper chicken breast, 4oz air fryed Oldbay seasoned Mahi Mahi, 3oz apple/cherry/hickory smoked pulled pork without sauce (not needed damn it was good. I smoked and vacuum sealed the day before surgery), 1/4 cup roasted salted peanuts, and 4 oz air fryed shrimp with Oldbay seasoning. I am very happy with my progress so far. 40. I had surgery last July and I've lost 70 lbs. When I see people that I haven't seen in a while that is usually one of the first things that comes up. Immediately after "You look great!" comes the "How are you doing it?". What is most frustrating to me is that it seems like when I open up to people about my surgery so many choose to share that they know someone who did it, lost a bunch of weight, then gained it back or weigh more than before. I'm SO sick of hearing that! I feel bad to mislead people about how I'm losing so much weight because I know that desperate feeling of hoping to discover the "perfect" diet. I could just say that I only drink water and mostly ea…

Hello everyone I started at 306 n now I am 190 which is great but started having weird symptoms of bad heartburn and I wasn’t able to to eat or drink. On the 31st of December my surgeon went in and put a ballon to stretch my stomach out a bit which I can now drink but still not eat as much. But I am still having bad heartburn and stomach pain accompanied by like a burning up I’m not sure if what I am going through is normal.

  43. Started by LawrenShrinking,

I’m having such a hard time. I had surgery 11/15. Nearly everything makes me nauseated. I’m never hungry. Is there ever a point where you can take normal bites again? Will there be a point where it is possible to eat “normally” again? Eating meat scares me, it never seems to go down ok or sit well. I just want to feel normal again. I usually feel nervous about eating because it is so unpleasant. What is eating like further out from surgery?

  47. Yesterday was my 10th day post-op and I can honestly say that I am eating great. Yesterday morning I ate 1/8 cup oatmeal with a 1/4 cup mashed bannana in it and 2 packets of Stevia. Went down wonderfully with no discomfort. Lunch time, I ate a 4oz airfried chicken breast with lemon pepper. Dinner time, I ate 4oz Salmon with old Bay sprinkled on it and a splash of lemon with 2oz green beans. Everything is going well. I just skipped the puree stage and chew to a pulp. Can't feel my incisions anymore. No discomfort from the surgery at all. That's my update. I really hoping that everyone else is doing great as well.

Hello everyone! I have started the process of getting approved for surgery and I feel like I am not sure how I stay on a vegetarian diet after surgery. I am a horrible cook and I hate to cook also. I really like that I eliminated the inflammation in by body by going vegetarian and I really don’t want to go off but I’m nervous about after the surgery any suggestions because now I kinda just steam veggies or cook the morning star burgers eat. I have only been a vegetarian since September 2019. Still very new n learning. Help please I appreciate all you can offer. Thank you in advanced!

My rny is scheduled for Jan. 6. I'm as ready as I can be, but I have this gnawing fear that I will go through all of this and it just won't work. I've been a yo-yo dieter for so long that my last couple of attempts had zero weight loss - my body was so used to me trying to restrict that it just held onto the weight. Is this an irrational fear?

So I started this journey in August 2019. I just found out that my insurance has approved me. I still need to do the EGD an I am scheduled on the 15th of this month. I have one major concern and that is, I can not tolerate any type of pain medication on an empty stomach. I am worried about after that surgery. Any advice?
