It’s weird but since my surgery I have been cooking for others A LOT. I don’t eat my creations but I enjoy cooking it. I’ve been thinking about this and I believe it’s my way of staying involved in the social aspect of food. Anyone else find themselves having a urge to cook a lot or am I just weird.

Hi everyone, I had my by-pass operation 3 weeks ago and lost 14 pounds in the first 2 weeks after it. During the 3rd week I noticed that my weight loss had somehow stopped, and at the end of the 3rd week I had put 2 pounds back on. I am still on liquid foods such as Water, Milk, Clear Soup, Yoghurt, Jelly. I only have each day a Yoghurt or a Jelly for one meal, and Clear Soup for another meal. In between I drink Water or Milk. I had a Stroke 22 months ago and I am now in a wheelchair, so I am unfortunately very limited to being able to do exercise. I just can’t understand why all of a sudden my weight has stopped coming off me, as I ea…

No more pains at all from surgery. Still not losing weight since released from the hospital. Under 600 calories a day. At least 60 to 70 grams protein a day. No sugars or carbs yet. All vitamins and minerals are being taken daily. I just have to wait till the scale starts slip sliding down again. I hope everyone a great day as well. You got to just love how they shave us for surgery.

Hi guys, I know I have to talk to my surgeon and have a call in to him, but I thought I'd see if anyone here has any experience with this... I was diagnosed with osteopenia 4 years ago. I just recently had a new Dexa scan which shows it's a bit worse now. I had an RNY 6 weeks ago and am already taking calcium supplements but think maybe I need more. If you have had this problem, are you taking additional supplements? Thanks for any info you can share.

I tried 1 piece of black forest ham on day 5. Chewed to a pulp, went down fine. The next morning at 1am I ate one more with no problems. So I woke up this morning after fasting last night for labs this morning with my PCP office. I explained what I had done and explained that my surgeon was made aware that I ate lunch meat already. He said some people advance and heal faster than others. He said I'm at least craving protein. He asked if I've been getting all my protein in each day. I told him yes as I am. He said he will confer with my surgeon at the end of the day. He said try a few pieces of turkey or chicken is what he would recommend first. So on the way home I went t…

Seems like it's going to be a great day, the sun is shining, I took my first crap, I ate a piece of Hillshire farms black Forest ham around 1am and still no problems, my decaf coffee and slim fast caramel latte 1/2 bottle is going down just smooth, my horse pill medications that my surgeon told me to keep taking are going down fine. I want to thank everyone for their support and to the ladies: love ya, to the guys: fist bump.

So I’ve had 2 NSV this week...the first is I pulled out my brand new nursing scrubs that I bought 2 years ago and have never been able to fit into them. Well now they fit perfectly!!! Also pulled out some jeans that I haven’t fit into for a long time and they fit too! This is a 2nd NSV because they do not have an elastic band!!! For the last couple years I’ve been living in yoga pants and elastic wasted jeans because that’s all that has fit me comfortably. I’m 7 1/2 weeks out and 32 lbs down since surgery

Hello, I had my bypass in August 2019 and everything was going great. However, about 2 months post op, I started experiencing some dizzy episodes where my limbs would go weak, my head start spinning and I would get either white bright spots or fully dark vision. I also noticed that it is particularly bad while I'm in the shower and I have actually collapsed a few times now. Has anybody else experienced this? Normally I lay on the floor and take deep breaths and it passes after 20 minutes but leaves me drowsy and delirious. I'm just waiting for results from my drs after I had a blood test and an ECG. The nurse told me that my heart rate was a little sl…

I passed my psyche eval just have my EGD, FINAL DIETARY CONSULT, AND A1C reduction (9.9 needs to be below 9) to go. I've been put on jardiance for a1c. When I first started this I lost 6 pounds in 1 month but have gotten sick twice since then and couldn't exercise. Been trying to stick to the dietary changes and I joined a gym but haven't been able to go much. Fell off the treadmill (lol) and work. I don't think I've lost honestly think I'm back to my original wait the one I've been stuck on for 10 years 246. I am doing this because I'm tired of my diabetes. I hit my 3 months on October 25th and the last 2-3 days I've been feeling super full, like I've eating a full plate of food. Yesterday, I literally made myself eat something. I can go all day and not eat anything. This wasn't happening before, I had myself on a really good eating schedule. Now it's a struggle, is this just one of those phases? Has anyone else experienced this?

I had my bypass done back in 2014 and lost over 200 pounds. I had then entered a rather toxic relationship and became pregnant. I ended up leaving him but shortly after I had a miscarriage and fell into depression. I had gained some weight during the pregnancy as per normal... but after the miscarriage, I blew up like a balloon. Its been 5 years and I gained back 100 pounds in the time of 15 months (During the pregnancy and after the miscarriage). Have any of you had issues with gaining weight back years later? I would appreciate any advice you can give. I have had the hardest time trying to get it back off.

Hello everyone! I am almost five years past my gastric bypass surgery, but at this point, I have gained back almost half my weight (30 pounds). I'm feeling frustrated, as it seems like all of the problems that I had before surgery are all returning, most specifically, the inability to lose weight due to PCOS. I am getting ready to restart, as much of the weight gain is my own fault. What I'm wondering though is what have you guys done that has worked? Only interested in those who are as far out from the surgery as I am. Ultimate goal is to be able to trigger weight loss again. Not looking to lose 30 pounds, but would love to drop 10. Thank you all in advance!

So I’m 2 months away from my one year mark. I’ve gotten down to 210lbs. So I’ve lost 120lbs total. We tried from 2015-2018 and got pregnant four times but they all resulted in miscarrage due to my weight and weight related health issues (high bp but mainly diabetes) and then had one chemical pregnancy. I didn’t realize why until I went to a professional and he told me I needed to loose weight to have a healthy/successful pregnancy. So I proceeded to have gastric bypass and ended up having the surgery March 27,2019 and here I am healthier and happier. Only thing I have wrong now is anxiety and a rapid heart rate (from being on high bp meds so long) which I’m on medicines s…

I'm laying in bed for the last three hours trying to sleep. Nothing surgery wise seems to be bothering me, except making sure everything around the house is taken care of for the next few days we will be gone. Gotta get up and start a fire in the wood stove in 3.5 hrs, take a shower with the surgical scrub for the third time within 24 hours, make my wife some coffee, brush my teeth, put my phone charger in our go bag, put down extra dogfood, toys, snacks and water for the kids, set the furnace to 65f degrees, and the wake the wife up and hurry up and hand her cup of coffee before she tries to slash my throat with her nails for waking her up before daylight. (The coffee is…

So, after lots of investigation, my heart is fine, and I have orthostatic hypotension. Doctor is suggesting Midodrine as a treatment. For those of you who take it, are there any noticeable side effects? I'm hesitant to take it, and wonder if I can just learn to live with the OH. Thanks!

I am feeling a bit discourage right now. I am only a month post-op but this last week and a half I have only had a 1lb drop on the scale. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I am only consuming between 400 - 600 calories as per my post-op diet but I am frustrated that the scale is not moving. I feel like my body is fighting me every step of the way. Is it not really early to be experiencing a plateau?

I just heard about this forum from my doctor, so I joined and wanted to introduce myself. I had my RNY nine and a half years ago. I heard about regain, but said, "That won't happen to me." For 6 years, I was logging my food, exercising regularly and weighing myself to stay close to my target weight. On July 3, 2016, I went for a run in the morning and got married that afternoon in a fabulous NYC wedding! Then, it all slipped away.... I was on a high! I ate and drank through Europe on an amazing two week honeymoon. Came back to more parties and celebrations and no exercise. Over the last three and a half years, my new normal changed so much. I recently stepped on the scale…

Update on my goal weight and current weight. Saw my bariatric team this week and I am not underweight! They told me to tell psychiatrist not to worry. 8 pounds from their goal for me, and more like 15 pounds from my goal. Which they did not disagree with. I was 148 on doctor's scale, fully clothed. Hi, y'all! At the end of December I will be 9 months pist Gastric Bypass. I have gone from a high of 246 to 147, 99 pounds lost. However, I am still a few pounds shy of "normal" weight. I an 5'4" and medium boned. My goal all along was to stay between 120-125, so I think I still have a ways to go. Saw my psychiatrist yesterday, and she says she's terribly worried that I'm losing too much weight and heading for an eating disorder. I have a history of Anorexia, but am definitely not restricting my food intake. How do you decide when you're at goal, and what yo do about my psychiatrist? I see bariatric PA in 2 weeks. Thanks!

Up until this point I have been very happy with my progress. However, at times I feel like i'm losing too much too fast. I have currently hit my goal weight of 165 lbs.(i'm actually 164 lbs.) and before hitting it, I thought of changing it to 145 lbs. I looked at myself in the mirror this morning and didn't recognize the reflection that was looking back at me, because I hadn't taken the time to really really look at myself before today. Anyone else going through this? RNYGB SD: 6/25/2018 HW: 300 LBS. SW: 246 LBS. CW: 164 LBS. GW: 165 LBS.
