To those who have had any of the surgeries who have gotten pregnant after. Did they make you do the glucose test? I would imagine that would make me super sick and miserable. If not what did they end up having you do? I had rny if that makes a difference. And Friday I’ll be 26weeks so I didn’t know what to expect. They are aware I had surgery but haven’t said if they will have me do the glucose drink test or if they’d do something else.

So I tried a green smoothie today - 1/2 a banana 1/2 cup mixed berries a handful of spinach soy milk and protein powder - Blended pretty thin. It tasted great but holy heck it hit my stomach like a ton of bricks. I felt nauseous and my stomach hurt so much after like 3 sips. I felt unwell for about 2 hours after and I was at work for my first day back so I wasn't in a rush to leave. Was this dumping? Should I try again with less fruit? Was it just something I can't tolerate right now? That pain though, nope, I never want it again. I have had a great first 2 weeks other than this no pain, fluids in easy - getting in about a cup of strained soup at meal tim…

I need everyone's opinion. I am having gastric bypass tomorrow and just recieved a call about meeting with a huge potential client on Friday. It would be a 4 hour round trip drive and maybe one-2 hour meeting. I am not ashamed of having surgery (actually super excited) but I do like to keep work and personal seperate. Do you guys think I can handle this short drive and meeting that soon after surgery or should I try to reschedule without giving too many details?

  6. I am 36years old and after almost 7 years post-op from my sleeve surgery, I've gained ALL the weight back over the course of these years. I know..how? Well, I had two jobs and school and no time for "myself." Managing all three of these commitments, I also started by old eating habits in eating junk food and fast food since there was no time for cooking and meal-prepping. So after my first visit, I asked my doctor if it was possible to get a re-sleeve. He discouraged me and said he strongly recommends a revision to the gastric bypass. I am a little nervous since I've heard so many things from my friends about malnutrition, having to randomly use the bathroom any typ…

My heart rate was always >100 prior to surgery but has been steadily dropping since. Hovering around 55 now. I have the Kardia Mobile EKG (just because I’m a wonk) and EKG’s read normal. Anyone have experience with bradycardia post WL? From what I’m reading, cardiologist would likely just run an EKG.?‍♀️

  10. I had surgery may 29th and I have had lots of ups and some downs. My Highest weight: 351lbs My current weight is 302lbs So I'm down 48lbs in my first month since surgery and I'm glad I've been doing so well. I found an unflavored protein powder that makes it easier for me to hit my requirements. I hate the vitamins cuz it's like chewing on chalk, but my doc said I can get the chewy ones now. I'm in Stage 3 of my diet for the soft solids and I absolutely detest fish. My dietitian recommended rotisserie chicken cuz it goes down easy. Any suggestions on meals to try in this stage as I work towards stage 4? I have had some sharp pains in my side and the doctor doesn't seem co…

Does anyone have issues with pain medication not lasting as long as it is supposed to? I take Tramadol for pain in my hips, hands, back and neck. This is a question I have not been able to find an answer to. The PCP acts like it should be enough. Yes, it does take my pain away, but not the full 6 hours. Anyone else in this boat?

Hello everyone, I have found a lot of information and helpful support here. Surgery is tomorrow. June 29th, 2020. I was ordered to do Covid 19 test to clear me for surgery. I was really nervous about the test as I heard and read so many stories saying it hurt. It did not hurt, it was quick, they swabbed both nostrils it was a weird feeling, a bit awkward like a fruit fly going up ur nose, n my eyes watered. I had to do 6 months of nutritionist visits, and since I'm near my goal weight for surgery I was told to do 3 days liquid pre op diet. Reading about how others have done for 1 and 2 weeks on liquid diet has given me strength to do my 3 days. I'm excited and nervous of …

Hi everyone! I hope that you all are staying safe and doing well. Since I'm taking some days off, I thought that I would catch up and touch base. I think I was among the last of the people whose surgery went as scheduled before everything shut down due the Coronavirus. What a different world we live in today. I do hope that those individuals who were scheduled in late March and in April had their surgeries re-scheduled -- don't give up! I'm here to tell you that it IS worth it in the end! I'm well on my journey to a transformed life and I would like to share my experiences to date. So far, I'm down 63 lbs. from when I started this journey and 70 lbs. from …

  21. I had the sleeve March 2014 & was good for a couple years, but in 2016 was hospitalized with severe inflammation in my stomach, a large hiatal hernia and GERD. I previously had no history of this prior to surgery. I was prescribed 80mg of omerzapole, carafate and zofran. Been suffering with horrible reflux ever since. In February my pcp added 300mg of zantac. Still no relief and the Bariatric surgeon is now recommending revision to the bypass. Has anyone experienced this? Did the insurance approve the revision for medical reasons? I have BCBS Massachusetts. Thanks in advance

One of my main worries is streching my new pouch. Does anyone know how much extra food will stretch it? I don't over eat like before but in the evenings i seem to get really hungry......please tell mre I'm not alone in this? Thank you in advance.

Please , can you all help me with names of proteins , drinks,.... What I can buy (what I will be allowed to each or drink) to keep at home for those 4 weeks? I really don’t go out for nothing since the pandemic start. Almost everything is buy online or my husband go get to me. Thanks

So, I placed a call to them, and am now being told they want me to see a cardiologist to determine if it is even safe for me to proceed with surgery. Just curious if anyone else experienced anything like this...

I have to get a colonoscopy in a couple of months and the information sheet has no special instructions for the prep post-RNY. I wonder if the prep's gonna give me dumping syndrome? (snerk-just kidding on that part...) I have to drink 32 oz of miralax in gatorade the first day, and then six hours before the procedure drink another 32 ounces. Seriously, have any of y'all had one, and was anything different?

  30. So as a new RNY person, I'm ready to start tracking my progress a little more in-depth so that it helps me stay honest. Long ago I used to use "My Fitness Pal" but I've heard an awful lot about their calorie counts being very off (as in too low). I see that there is another one called "Baritastic". Does anybody have an opinion on which of these two they prefer...or perhaps if there is another one that I'm not seeing, by all means please shout it out - I'd really love to know how these might be supplementing our new insides!

Sooo, I've been on a journey to get bariatric surgery for almost a year now. Like most of you, my surgery was postponed because of COVID. However, after getting within 5 days of my surgery and starting my liquid diet, I've gotten word that it needs to be postponed again. Little back story: I was born with a deformed valve in my heart and it was repaired at 4 weeks old. I had check ups until I was 18 and was told to seek help if I ever had symptoms of heart issues (shortness of breath, ankle swelling and consistent heart palpitations) I've not had any issues in the last 13 years, so I never needed to see a cardiologist. My doctor, after being told this hx wanted …

This might be a stupid question, but can/should you eat protein bars after gastric bypass surgery (obviously not in the beginning, but once you're back to solid foods)? My favorite protein bars are on sale for 50% off right now, and I'm tempted to stock up, but my surgery is just over a month away and I don't want to buy a bunch of protein bars that I'll never be able to eat.

Hello all! Hoping you can give some advice. I am 5 months post-op from gastric bypass. I regularly meet or exceed my protein and water goals (70 ounces protein and 50 ounces water) and am semi-active, but am still dealing with bad constipation. I was taking miralax daily and that was helping but I had right side pain constantly and when I stopped the miralax the side pain stopped as well. Welllllll- I definitely should have replaced the miralax with something because I landed in the ER today for fecal compaction. I’ve tried smooth move and love it but it gives me stomach cramping when going. Also have tried docusate. My questions for you are: 1. Has anyone exper…

  36. So, almost a year out from my surgery and down about 130 lbs from surgery day (197 lbs overall), I find myself eating what I consider relatively normal now. I mean yes, there's still things that I can't eat at all, and I still eat a lot less overall than I did before. I've still found that there are things that I can handle now that in theory, I shouldn't be able to. An example? Fun size M&Ms. I can handle a pack of these with some protein and not have any issues. One pack of fun size M&Ms is less than 10 grams of sugar. I can also handle grapes, sushi, and a single slice of pizza. Anything more is pushing it. My weight fluctua…

I’m having a bit of an episode tonight.  This hasn’t been an easy journey so far.  I got revised 5/27 and was in the hospital another 3 nights this week. One for a huge hematoma, it happens. 2 nights to repair some scar tissue, a very fast healer the doc said as it was twisting and I was vomitting bile and had a sour stomach. He went and repaired it.  I feel gassy today being home. Trying to drink as much as I can but I just can’t do it. Even with the sleeve I had an issue with liquids. Especially water.  Tonight I took two gas pills and within an hour now I vomited them right up. Omg! So scary. Here we go again. I’m so afraid.  Did I make a mista…

I don’t think it’s heartburn. I’ve experienced heartburn most of my life. Had the revision and then re opened for scar tissue etc on Wednesday. Feel okay but feels like something is stuck in my throat and abdominal pain. Might be gas? Just took some charcoal capsules/anti gas. I hope this isn’t going to be a life long issue(s). I hope I didn’t make a mistake doing a revision.

So I was revised 5/27. I’m feeling great... went to bed and awoke with a horrendous bruise on the left side of my belly button ... incision site. Didn’t have a bruise when I went to bed. It’s hard large and painful. Feels like a baseball underneath. All the others are greenish as it’s been over a week. I called the emergency service for my surgeon and his associate called me back. Just said if no fever it’ll be okay. ER if I want but with COVID unsure I wanna go but I had surgery and everything was impeccably clean. Maybe CITYMD. maybe it needs to be drained? ??‍⚕️

I started this Journey back in Jan 2016. It took me years to get my Gastric Bypass. I had went from 407 pre surgery, 399 on surgery day, and I had went down to 278. My therapist put me on hormones and I gained over 40lbs, so I quit taking them and I dropped 2 pounds and now I cant get back under 300. I'm disabled so I cant do normal exercises. All help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You Leslie

The day after my post, I was at my seamstress, getting some of my favorite clothing taking up and we talked for an hour and all of a sudden I felt light headed and diaphoretic and told her I needed to sit down. My doctor had told me to take a half of my blood pressure medications and I had forgotten and taken the whole pill. I passed out and she gave me some orange juice after I came to and I told her I needed to call my husband because I couldn't drive home due to still feeling bad, my vision was blurry and I felt faint again but was able to contact my husband before passing out again, she spoke with him…
