Surgery is harder on some of us than others. It may just take you a bit longer to get past the pain. I would make sure I am doing small sips, room temperature or perhaps slightly warmer water.

I definitely will try the warmer water. I only used my faucet water on cold. I do the small sips but it kind of feels like air is being trapped in my body as well and I get these really painful hiccup

It took me a couple of days before I could sip without pain. I was able to handle sugar free popsicles and sugar free jello though. Go figure. I was eventually able to sip without pain.

I am 5 days post op of my RNY and I am not at all able to even drink water without it being incredibly painful. Tomorrow I set up an appointment with my surgeon and nurse to follow their advice. As of right now they're going to give me fluids tomorrow. I just don't understand why it's like this? Any insight?
