I am finding a huge lack of information on Mission Weight Management and the surgeons they use (Edwards, Soosar, Alan ??). The practice is with Mission Hospital. Has anyone had experience with WLS through this practice? I cannot even meet the surgeon until after four months of hoop jumping, so cannot ask questions, discuss surgery types, etc. Very frustrating as I attempt to make the best decisions for myself. Hi everyone, I just joined in hopes to get some help. Over the past year, I have had several dr's tell me "why don't you get weight loss surgery?" I would just look at them and reply, I'm not rich! Finally, about a month ago my PCP mentioned it again. I snapped at her asking , so are you going to pay for it? She said, honey, your insurance covers it. So after a month of convincing my family I called horizon to confirm they actually cover it, and they do! However... They only list two doctors. And after reading reviews and experience from both, I do not feel comfortable with either one. One dr had 2 fatalities in one day and the other is not very experienced at all. …

I ate sausage 10 days post op. I had to go to the ER and have an emergency EGD. It was the worse pain of my life, but I am more embarrassed then everything. Now I feel like a loser and maybe I wasn't strong enough to have this procedure. I'm struggling with craving (a salad). I'm just becoming so miserable.

I am 2 weeks out from sleeve. After being on liquids for 20 days (liver reduction and 10 days post op) The doctor said I could start soft foods this past Wednesday and goto solids by the weekend. I'm doing completely fine with eating new things, no issues. Which makes me nervous. A lot of people say they have tons of issues with going back to food after liquids. I need to find a new doctor for my follow up visits for my sleeve procedure. I've called several doctors but none are willing to see me. Does anyone know of any doctor in the Baltimore, Maryland area who will see a post-op patient who is almost a year out? Any help will be appreciated.

I had the sleeve done last Monday, October 19, 2015 and unfortunately I had the most horrible experience in the hospital and several issues post-op. Although I should, I will not, state the name of the hospital or doctor. This experience has had a horrible mental effect on me and I just can't move forward with the doctor or hospital as a support systems if I want to succeed. I now find myself looking for a new doctor to handle my post-op needs as well as a hospital or facility that will offer a support system for me. I use to get my band filled at the Hurst location but they closed down so I went to Ft Worth they were always booked full but I hung in there. My last appt was 3 months out and 3 days before my appt they called to inform me they no longer do fills. I was so disappointed in them I couldn't believe they didn't at least fulfill the appt I had and then cut me loose. They were suppose to forward my chart to another Dr and facility but I never heard from them. I'm so mad I went with True Results. Any body else go through this? Can anybody recommend a facility in the Ft Worth area?

I signed onto My Chart for a message. Posted was my August 10 surgery date and my surgical pre-op appt. Aug 5. My surgery notification (the date I already knew) said procedure performed by Dr. Rosenthal (the one I know) and Dr. Ganga. I had two doctors (I didn't even know) do my egd, so I should assume they'll be more than one doctor doing my sleeve. I couldn't find any info on him, other than he is a MD at Cleveland Clinic. From their site, I find he is in the Residency surgical program. My biggest fear when going into a teaching hospital is that I'll be handed over to a student. My insurance is UPMC For You and I called the company and they said if your BMI is under 50 then you have to have a supervised diet for 6 months before you're approved (along with all the generic testing). But they said if your BMI is over 50 (which mine is) that you aren't required to have the diet. My question is, has anyone from the UPMC Altoona been in this situation before? Did the surgeons there still want you on a diet plan for a period of time before the surgery? What was your timeline from the seminar to surgery? I assume they're going to at least want a month so they see how I do on a diet and how dedicated I am and to do pre-op stuff, but I'm not sure other…

I'm moving closer to having a surgery. I've selected the surgeon I want to go with. He works out of two hospitals. One is St John's Detroit and the other is Grosse Pointe Beaumont. From what I have read, St John's appears to be a center of excellence from the ASMBS and has a dedicated bariatric unit. Grosse Pointe Beaumont is not a center of excellence but I understand that to be because they don't have the volume. It appears that overall as a hospital, Beaumont gets more favorable reviews than St John's but I think some of that has to do with simply location. I'm not sure how to choose which hospital. Has anybody has surgery at either of these hospitals?

I have checked into two programs and I'm trying to decide which to go with. I started this process in June. I'm looking at Franciscan Center for Weight Management in Federal Way, WA and Virginia Mason's Bariatric Program. Hi all. I'm very new here, and very new to the whole surgery idea in general. I haven't spoken to a doctor about it but I want to get all my ducks in a row before I do. I assume I speak to my primary (nurse practitioner) first, but do I need to know what doctor I want a referral to right away or does she start the process? Or do I go straight to consulting with a weight loss clinic? Or? Either way I know I'm going to need recommendations for a surgeon in Pueblo Colorado (might be able to go as far as Colorado Springs for the surgery, but I have no way to get up there regularly for appointments). I don't trust my primary enough to just go where she says. Thanks.

Hi. So many of us have a goal weight in mind... do any of you have a goal size? I've been up and down my entire life. The biggest was a size 22/24 (just prior to my surgery)and my smallest size was a size 5... 20 plus years ago. Remembering back, I think I felt my healthiest at a size 10/12. That is what I'm aiming for. I'm currently a size 16 and only 4 months post surgery...so maybe I'll make it to a 6 or 8, but would be satisfied with the 10. What's your goal...or is it all about the numbers on the scale?

Curious has this ever happened to anyone else and if so where do I begin? In 2013 I was in hospital in my home town Houston for three days recovering from gastric sleeve surgery or so I thought. I had lap band in 2010 and was sick often from it even though I followed all the rules and life changes. Than in 2013 I had a revision to gastric sleeve which I was told went very well just go home follow the new changes which were pretty much the same as before and see nutritionist at dr office frequently to stay on task. i did it all! I'm have a horrible time with Darnall and the Dr there. Its gone as far as me filing a complaint against him. I went to see a Different Dr at Seton and LOVED this Dr. He was so down to earth and easy to talk to. Only problem is he says that Tricare has yet to approve anyone locally off post and would refer me back on post. If this happens, what do I do? I'm stuck
