I ate solids 10 days post op.....feel like a loser

I ate sausage 10 days post op. I had to go to the ER and have an emergency EGD. It was the worse pain of my life, but I am more embarrassed then everything. Now I feel like a loser and maybe I wasn't strong enough to have this procedure. I'm struggling with craving (a salad). I'm just becoming so miserable.

I'm craving salad too ☹️ trust me, we all want to cheat. Some have, and some have more willpower. You're not a loser. There are just some lessons you might need to learn firsthand. Keep trying. That's all you can do [emoji4]

You can do it! I, too, questioned why I had done it the first few weeks after, but IT GETS BETTER. Trust. I'm 7 weeks out today and starting to feel more normal. The soft/pureed food stages are the hardest, but it's a great time to get creative. I've tried to think of it as an adventure instead of a hindrance.

We've all been through it here. And if you can't get the advice/answers you need on here, contact your surgeon's office to see if they can connect you with someone who can help you through it. You're stronger than sausage!

Hun... you are NOT a loser... you are human !

It is a difficult diet to stick to... and i am pretty sure that a majority of us have had that thought of cheating post op.

However... the reason the post op diet is so strict is because we need to heal. solid food (as you learned the hard way) can cause pain... a leak or a number of surgical complications.

Take it as a lesson learned and try to keep yourself busy when you have this feeling... it won't be forever only a couple of weeks.... in the grand scheme of things... its a small percentage of your journey.

Is a sausage worth spending weeks in hospital because of a leak? Is it worth having to be fed by a tube? Is it worth being on liquids for weeks? Cause that is what potentially could happen!

If you feel the need to do it again... come to us... we will talk you out of it.. we are here to support each other

I am so sorry! I just had surgery Aug 15,16. YES it is so hard I feel that way too. When I do feel the urge to cheat, I get on here and read until I find one that helps me and today that one was your post. Look how strong you are!!!! You got to this site posted your truths after all you have been through and put yourself out there. That takes a strong women that right there. That tells me you can do all the rest.

Big big hugs I will be praying for you!
