I was wondering if it's possible to know if a RNY was well performed using the images of the esophagram, I've been eating more than most people say they are doing at week 6 and this came to my mind. I'm uploading some images, I have the full study, if there is a doctor around who can help me with the interpretation would be great.

Starting this process I originally went with Dr. Patel in San Antonio. I did all my testing went to the seminar. Long story short I felt like I was just a number. His office staff is rude and trying to ask for help or get questions answered is like pulling teeth. Gut instinct, I decided to switch surgeons and go with Dr. Sashidar Ganta here in Austin. Has anyone had the sleeve surgery with Dr. Ganta?

I haven't even been to my first consult yet but I am so excited to start the wls process. I know Dr. Chung taught at Harvard med and put together the bariatric program at Capital Health just a few years ago. I was wondering if any of you are her former patients? I'd really like to hear about your experiences good or bad with Dr. Chung as your surgeon. Thanks in advance! Sent from my VS985 4G using the BariatricPal App

I've made appointments for two consultations-one with Dr. Schwack at NYU, and one with a nurse practitioner at NYP/Columbia. I have to say, the phone call with the Columbia receptionist put a bad taste in my mouth. She was really obnoxious and made me feel bad. Obviously that shouldn't have any bearing on my decision, so I wanted to ask…..can anyone speak to NYU vs Columbia? If you chose one over the other, what guided your choice? What was your consultation and pre-op experience like? If you already had surgery, what was that like? Post-op? Did you feel supported by your surgeon? Did they answer your questions adequately? (I have to say, I'm an NYU alum and I feel like…

Both hospital programs are very close by to me, trying to decide which to use. Attended UNC info session, seemed pretty straightforward....duke info session is next week. How were your experiences if you used one of these programs? Is one more comprehensive than the other in terms of support and follow up post-surgery? I definitely want to have solid support groups available to me post-surgery, when the real work kicks in. Any info or opinions you can provide on your experience at Duke or UNC would be so appreciated! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I highly recommend the bariatric surgeons that practice together as Mid Ohio Surgical Associates and their practice is at the Mt. Carmel West hospital. I had surgery with Dr. Price and then have had my follow up care with Dr. Miller and Dr. Choban on occasion. I like all three very well. I participate in Mt. Carmel's Bariatric Support group and both RNY and Lapband patients alike have good things to say about all three surgeons, the bariatric nurse coordinator and the bariatric nutrition counselor.

I am currently 5 days post-op gall bladder removal, hernia repair and gastric bypass. I had Dr. McClosky at weightoss institute of the central coast. She is a skilled surgeon and I am glad I had her as my surgeon. She is very matter of fact so, don't be taken aback by this. She is very busy but, knows what she is doing. I just wanted to let you know if anyone was searching for a doctor on the California central coast.

Curious if anyone has chosen NW Memorial in Chicago for their bariatric surgery? So far I'm impressed with the quality of the staff and the facilities, but I'm finding the sheer size of the program and the hospital a little overwhelming. I've completed my initial evals with the nurse practitioner and nutritionist. Tomorrow I'll receive the psych eval from a third party. I was hoping each patient would have some type of case manager to help guide through the process, but it looks like that's unlikely. Does it get any easier to follow once all the evals are complete? Anything else I should know?

Darn this place is so disorganized. I'm nervous just based on that. The surgeon I chose has an excellent reputation so I'm hoping he overcomes all. I had shoulder surgery there 3 weeks ago and it was an AWFUL experience - they put me in observation for two nights after which I did not realize meant I was not admitted. The care was lax, the pain meds did not really work for me, the ONE sympathetic nurse spent a whole 12 hour shift trying to get the resident come see me. It would have been helpful just to order my shoulder be packed in ice since I had to beg for ice every time and they would bring me one pack instead of the 4 I needed... The weight center, one hand does…

I had a VSG on 12/28. My doctor has an outreach office in Texarkana TX, closer to me than his Dallas office so that is where I had my pre-op visits. Surgery went fine and I was released the next day and drove back to northern AR where we live. We set an appointment for 1 month later for follow-up. The day of the appointment I could not travel to Texarkana due to inclement weather. I called his office, left VM asking for another appointment the next time he was there (every second Saturday) but never got a callback. I called again and spoke to an office assistant and was promised a call back, again nothing. As I have had no complications at all, I was not too concerned but…

I have finally decided to start the process of weight loss surgery and have decided on the sleeve. Looking for a doctor and basically how this process will go. My primary care doctor highly recommended Dr. Hawasli. I call his office to make an appointment and always get a voicemail. Left a voicemail with no call back yet. It makes me uncomfortable that it's a bit difficult to make an appointment. Is this common? I guess I'm not sure the point of the person who answers the phone just to transfer me to a voicemail. I also had a recommendation for Dr Pesta. Both of these doctors seem to get good reviews online. Not sure what to look for in a doctor or where to start. I like …

Hello, I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois PPO. They don't require supervised weight loss before approving surgery. I really want to go to the University of Chicago for a gastric bypass, but I've heard their nutritionist always requires some supervised weight loss before they'll sign off on the surgery. I'd like to avoid this because if that happens I may not qualify for surgery and I don't want to lose all that weight just to gain it back. Does anyone have any experience with U Chicago? Anyone ever get the surgery without supervised dieting beforehand?

I ask because the sleep medicine NP has recommended I stay in the hospital until I am no longer on systemic narcotics, which I assume means a longer-than-typical hospitalization. I don't want to go crazy with boredom, so I'm hoping I can surf the 'net on my Kindle while I am there.

NooCube Then there's Energy Excessive 62. Look at extra caffeine, again the 62mg: a number of the materials within this stuff, and niacin which will be the principle ingredient in that 5 time power drink. I am telling you if you don't get a thrill to the goods this provider has you aren't buzzable. http://advancedtrimsite.com/noocube/

I've just begun the process of looking into WLS focusing mainly on the RnY bypass. I live in Hagerstown, and our local hospital, Meritus, has a program. When I looked at the website, the 4 doctors listed are all DO's. I know DOs go to med school just like MDs and have had personal experience with an excellent DO for my mom's oncologist; however, I didn't realize they did WLS. Anyone have experience with Meritus for this? I could also go to Frederick or Baltimore I suppose but having things closer to home would really help with post-op b/c I am not going to have any real support here at home and will have to rely on friends if I'm unable to drive, or have complication…

I had my first visit with the surgeon and i am excited that I am going to have the gastric sleeve surgery in July. I was surprised that the Doctor said I would go home the same day. Everyone I know that had this surgery stayed at least 1 day overnight. Has anyone gone home the same day? If so do you wish you had been able to stay?
