Hi, has anyone has their sleeve done at NWWLS in Everett? I originally scheduled with them cause I was planning to self pay and they were cheaper than other places. Since my consultation on 12/21, we've been looking to see if insurance will cover it. Anyway, I haven't been having the best experience with them so far and was just wondering if anyone else had a good/bad experience? If insurance ends up covering it, I'm considering going somewhere else.

Hi all, I am currently on the journey of pre-op. I went to the seminar, saw Dr. Shamsi (MD) who said I qualify and is pushing my surgery up hopefully a month to maybe Oct/Nov? Date is yet tbd. They pushed my surgeon appt up a month to later this month, as well as have my psych appt next week, followed by the NUT later this month. Was hoping to get some feedback from others who chose Healthy For Life with Surgeon, Dr. Stanish. All the best!

I absolutely LOVE the whole crew at National Bariatrics. Dr Chae does amazing work and my scars from my rny are tiny and very few compared to others I've known who had the exact same procedure. I didn't have any bruising or gas pains. What really sticks out is how much he himself cares. He's not just in there stamping out surgeries to pay for a boat or something, he genuinely cares about his patients and wants to help you succeed in the least painful way possible. Wonderful surgeon and a joy to work with. He takes time to thoroughly explain things and answer all questions. His staff is really nice as well. Super blessed to have had him for my revision

Hello folks, I am about to start my journey, and I go for my first consult on 06/04/2015 with Dr. Hart at Atlanta Bariatrics. I am a self pay so I am nervous about that, but very excited at the same time. I am planning on getting the gastric sleeve, but have not seen much on this site about it, nor have I seen any mention of the facility that I have chosen, and Dr. Hart comes highly recommended. Does anyone have experience with the facility or the surgeon in the Atlanta area? Any other sleevers out there that want to share, and or help support me in the Atlanta area? hi all so i wanted to start a topic on my surgeon dr dovec from gbmc in baltimore county md. quite frankly shes awesome and i feel completely at ease with her as my surgeon and i know that i can trust my life in her hands. right now she is 9 months preggers with a baby girl so i wont have another meeting with her until my final class where i pick my surgery date. also her pre-op diet is like the easiest ive heard of. its just 3 weeks of no starches and then 2 days of only Clear liquids. also i know one of my tags is leaks and heres the amazing thing with her in her 1000 bariatric surgeries she has never had a leak. never. which really rocks. so i know this was a tad long …

I'm going in on Monday for my sleeve surgery and a little nervous because it's an outpatient facility. They said I'll stay overnight for a total of 23 hours. Everyone else I talk to and read about stay 2 nights. How did your experience there go?

Has anyone had their surgery with Dr Roshek? He is with Nicholson clinic in Plano. I've tried searching for his patients and have found only three. I'm sure he has had to do more then just that. Would love to hear experiences. I have a date on the 21st. Was going to go with Dr Nick but he got booked up.

I am in the beginning stages of considering the sleeve. I have been referred to Dr. Jeffery Johnsrud in OC, CA St. Josephs. Does anyone have any experience with this surgeon. Any particulars to expect?

Hi, I am eager to know more about Dr, ponce De, Leon. I was supposed to go with Dr Fernando Garcia this past may but I started getting a bad feeling as time got closer so I backed out. So I am still searching and really like Dr, Ponce De, Leon. If you already went to him in Tijuana Mexico please give me more feed back if you can. Hello everyone, Just relocated to Henderson Nv, in hopes of having the gastric sleeve. My old bariatric doc insisted I have the band instead of the sleeve, but that's not something I want to do. If anyone can recommend a good bariatric doc in my area I would truly appreciate it. Also if anyone knows of any bariatric support groups or walking groups/buddies in the Henderson area, Please let me know. Hi everyone. Newbie here. I know I will be self-pay because my insurance excludes WLS. Because of the self-pay, I am only looking at BLIS covered surgeons. I have read many posts that Dr. Weiss is excellent. Can anyone give me feedback on the self-pay cost? How long it takes to get a surgery date? I am also wondering if I have a hiatal hernia would they charge that to insurance and give me a discount to only pay for the sleeve portion of the surgery? Any information anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated. I am 5'3" weigh 278. I have hypertension, pre-diabetic, fatty liver and knee pain. So I really just want to get healthy. Thanks,

Hi, I would very much like all of us to publish who your surgeon was and at what facility you received your sleeve? I would hope this information will be of importance for all the future visitors to the site in helping them make a decision and hoping to relieve some stress in picking a doctor. Please post your information. I saw a similar post from 2010 and I thought some updated information would be good.

Hi all, I've just had an email from smart shape to say they are cancelling my surgery scheduled for this Wednesday (2 days time). I'm devastated and furious. The reason they have given is that another surgeon has cancelled all their surgeries for this day and they won't open the OR for 1 person. Given the amount of money I have handed over ($16k self pay as I'm in Canada) I'm appalled at how they have treated me. Throughout my whole experience with smartshape I have been passed from pillar to post. If you are a patient of KC Bariatric (Drs. Hoehn, Hamilton or Aragon) and have reached a stable weight I would really like to know how close you were able to get to your goal weight. I'm a few days out from surgery. My doctor (Hoehn) gave me a weight loss estimate that is very close to my goal. Since it's my understanding that all three doctors perform their sleeve procedures exactly the same way, I'm just curious how other patients of the practice have fared with their results.

I have contacted this doctor in TJ and he only charges $7500 for the surgery and has 12 years and 2500 bands under his belt, but I still would like to hear from someone who has been to him.

Does anyone know what the current wait list looks like for Naval Medical Center Portsmouth? I know Dr. Mann just got back from deployment, and my decision appointment is with him.

My Anthem Covered California will not cover my surgery because my BMI is too low, so I have been contacting various doctors (4 so far have responded) their cash prices. The lap band prices are $15k give or take a couple of 100 and for sleeve have been from $18.5k to $20K. These doctors were all on the first page of my google search if you want an idea of who I contacted. I'm working my way inland to see if there is any significant price difference. If anybody has already collected this information let know.

Anyone have their surgery at the Forest Park Dallas location? I just found out it was closed on Friday!!! I'm freaked out!! My Dr exclusively uses that hospital and I'm scared of what to do or where to go If something happens to me. So crazy ... Plus All those nice people are out of a job I just recently had some issues and had to be readmitted and all the nurses and staff are the best.

I started my contact with this group because they were in my plan and they were the closest to me since I live in a smaller town. I met my Dr. one time and he seemed very nice and I also met my "Case worker" who was suppose to be my support and go between and if I needed her for anything please contact her. Looking for Houston area surgeons. Please give me your experience, what they required if they required anything other than what insurance required, and what your time frame was. I am on a time crunch to get surgery completed by the end of the year. My insurance got deactivated and won't be reinstated until the end of October. Husbands company is changing insurance at the first of the year and will not cover Bariatric surgery. I've started the process with Dr. Nicholson's office in Plano but may have to switch. When insurance is reinstated I will have had my psych, my EGD, and my nutrition visit (that was required by Dr. Nicholson office) and sleep study.

Hello all I'm just beginning my journey. The first step through kaiser nor. Cal I have to take an introduction to weight loss surgery class, which isn't scheduled until Sept 9th. I'm just wondering if anyone else has any experience going through kaiser for the sleeve how long did it take from your initial inquire until you had your surgery?

I sleeved on 2/2/2015. My surgeon was Dr. Kacmarski. I have been very happy with him. He has been willing to answer all of my questions. I never feel rushed. Even better I had an uneventful surgery and recovery so far. I was inpatient at Barix Clinic. I was the only patient on that floor. I had 2 full RN's to myself. both night and day. Most of these nurses had 10+ years at this facility and two had 26 years of nursing. They were good at keeping me informed of what to expect. They were patient.
