Hi all; I started this weight loss journey back in 2012 and what I am telling you is by no means to scare anyone rather just inform you of a very unhappy experience. Maybe it was just my perception but I felt obligated to tell my story. I met with Janey Pratt in 2012 and she was pregnant at the time, I had gone thru the seminars and was a candidate so I chose her to be my surgeon. Mid way through, I came across her assistant who had to be the most unhappiest of people I had ever met. I had gone to nut and psy and met all the requirements and when I asked Carole, the assistant when surgery would be, the answer was "I have no idea! You'll have to wait for her to com…

I don't see my NUT anymore unless I really need a consult, so I thought I would ask here. I am 11 weeks post op. Feeling great. Off all restrictions. When did you have alcohol the first time? I am well aware that I will only probably be able to drink 1/2 a beer once I drink one, but how long did you wait. I really want a beer. I'm not a big drinker, but I would like to be able to enjoy the occasional beverage.

Dr Debarros and Dr. Orris work together as a team. They did my surgery and I have found all of my treatment with them to be excellent. They have a great office team with a support system available. Their nutritionist is very supportive and always available and their monthly support meetings with speakers are informative and helpful. I have been very successful in my weight loss efforts thanks to this weight loss center!

Having my surgery with Dr Harris at Puget Sound Bariatrics around June I think. Has anyone else had experience with him? The staff all seem to like him, I have only met him once and he seemed very capable.

Hi Guys, Has anyone been banded by Dr. Wai Yip Chau from NJ Bariatrics? He operates out of the Medical Center in Princeton NJ. I have already had a consult with him. He seems really nice and his staff were very professional and helpful. Just wanted to hear from someone who has been through this with him already. Does Dr. Chau do the fills or a staff member? How did the office respond if you called with a problem? Does Dr. Chau return calls or emails? Just wondering, he seems great, but I just wanted some verification if my instincts are accurate. Also, how was the hospital? Did you have to stay overnight? How was the tretment by the nursing staff and the anest…

I've had my lapband for 3 yrs (with no luck) and am getting revised to the gastric bypass but my PCP thinks it's too drastic because he thinks losing weight is easy plus I'm sick of always having to remind him that I can't take certain medications because of my band. Anybody know of a good pcp in the Tulsa area? Thanks!

I have been working with Dr. Orris for 2 years now and am happy that I have him as my doctor. He listens to you when you are having issues with your band and adjusts it accordingly. I have lost weight slowly, but I am keeping it off and feeling great.

I am in the pre op stage with the sleeve. So far Dr. Lavin is my surgeon. I got to meet with him once as I asked to meet with him instead of NP for second diet appointment. Very nice and answered my questions. He is obviously busy as it was a 2 hour wait. Anyone have experience with him? Recommend him? How was his presence day of surgery? Did you see him before or after the surgery? Anyone have any thoughts on Southern Surgical Hospital in Slidell?

Dr. Bobby was fabulous from the very beginning. His office staff were caring and persistent and the surgery staff were outstanding. I had the surgery in Tustin CA. And the experience was positive for my husband too.

I am going to have my surgery done at the Mayo Clinic although it is 5 hours from home and there are other places in the state closer to home I decided I wanted it done at the best hospital in the country. It is a super long process, according to the paperwork I was given at my first appointment. It says I have to complete a 12 week behavioral modification program, which is perfectly fine with me. I want to be assured I can do this as well. But, once that is done and I meet with the surgeon they then get insurance approval, which they say can take 4 - 8 weeks. I can't really imagine that, but then they say once they have the approval the surgery won't be scheduled for…

Hi Folks, I have a long tale of woe to tell, but I'm a bit rattled and emotional right now. So if I'm not making sense, please forgive me Went to the O-band center who shares an office in manhattan with new life, new look surgery. My first visit was in July, with 3 subsequent visits for diet, Seotemeber, October and November. In between I had blood tests, a psyche consult, endoscopy, and two sleep studies. The studies yielded me a cpap machine.. To make a long story short, I was approved for sleeve surgery on December 6. That's the good news. The bad news is that I was never told why I needed the above procedures, just "show up for a endo, now a sleep study, now a…

Penny, I hope you read this and communicate my concerns, you were the one bright light in that place. However I would never recommend this practice. To be clear, I have NO complaints about Dr Trivedi. I only met the man once. But I have never worked with a more un-caring and disorganized medical practice. I won't go on about all my issues. I've posted them here as they've occurred so you can read them on the general sleeve discussion board if you are really interested. Yesterday I called the Ellis Bariatric Center and will be transferring my records there. I have already gotten 2 emails and a phone call from them. They said they should be able to get me into the OR …

Just got a very disturbing letter in the mail today. I had my LB done with Dr. Cywes Feb. 2011, and have done very well. I have lost about 80 pounds. Turns out, he is closing all clinical practices the end of this month. I am beside myself with sadness and a little bit of anger. I feel so abandoned . Anyone know what happened or why he is shutting his doors? Most importantly, I need good recommendations for other LB doctors in Jacksonville, Fl that take on transfer patients. Anyone in the area love their doctor?

Hi all. I am about 3 weeks post- op and doing ok in that regard. I was still having a lot of pain, though, so last week my gastro doc ordered a CT scan. It revealed some anomalies like a large ascities next to my liver. My gastro doc compared the scan to the one I had in Jan., well before the surgery, and said it was there then too. So I called the surgeon who did my gastric bypass and was basically told that it had nothing to do with the bypass so they weren't going to deal with it. If my gastro guy was concerned, HE should order a needle biopsy. Is that a big brush off or what? Anyway, I did some calling around and it looks like I will be going to the Mayo clinic in …

Am in Denton Texas and I used Dr. David Provost. I have liver disease stage 4 and he was still able to do the surgery where other drs wouldn't. He's an awesome Dr. And individual. He cares about how you are doing and has a life long manual to use for the rest of your life. The staff is awesome and they genuinely care also. Good luck to all of you. Sincerely Debra (Dabberdoo)
