Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals

I go for my first appointment next Tuesday, October 14, 2014. Seeing the coordinator for paperwork, the nutrionist for an hour and then the therapist for an hour. The surgeon visit will be the following Tuesday.

I have a friend who was banded in Mexico about 5 years ago. She has grown tired of traveling to Mexico for fills etc. Does anyone know of a doctor in Las Vegas that will do fills for her? It seems many doctors don't want provide services if they did t do the surgery .

My doctor is in the process of submitting to my insurance for the Lap Band procedure. I am keeping my fingers crossed and praying that they approve it and soon. If all goes well, this will be my 2nd procedure. My first was with Dr. Beth Shrope in Ridgewood, NJ. It was in for 3 weeks before being removed. No medical reason for the removal...long story... I've gained over 30lbs since the last procedure, 3 years ago and I feel like I'm more than ready this time around. Different Doctor, different hospital, different pre-op and post op instructions. I have decided to start this process through NYU, and after months of waiting I have my first appointment next week. Dr. Schwack will be my surgeon. I intend to get the sleeve, but I have yet to meet with everyone. I was wondering if anyone has gone through this process with NYU/ Dr. Schwack. What did you like the most? What did you like the least? Do you advise anything in particular that I should know beforehand?

At the NJ Bariatric Center I found answers to all my questions, the staff is awesome and the surgeons are top notch I had my sleeve done at Overlook Hospital in summit nj and I cant thank enough all the staff and doctors

I really like this guy! Beginning with my initial appointment he has remained so patient and attentive to my questions and concerns. I met Dr. Roc Bauman today for the first time. He's doing my surgery on Nov. 3rd. He is awesome. I really enjoyed talking to him and learned a lot from him. He's straight forward, but that is awesome! I can tell he cares a lot about his patients. I'm glad this change was made. I was originally seeing Dr. Ian Villanueva for my surgery, but he's no longer there. So, my case went to Dr. Bauman.

Plain and simple, I love my surgeon! I was apprehensive as I had to switch places for my surgery due to a change in insurance. But I am so happy that it did happen. He was amazing and very funny too. Never felt uncomfortable with him. If you're looking for a surgeon in the OC or LA area, give him a try!

For those of you who want to review what issues/problems may occur with a bariatric surgeon, I've been updating my blog. The latest has to do with the FOIA'ed police reports I got. Basically the cops never found me in violation of any laws and that I ever did anything "concerning" to the bariatric surgeon, the staff, or the patients. While there were claims of trespassing, it couldn't be justified in any way. I've got more questions on the way. Surely there must be someone on this great website who has used Dr Perez. I have no doubts about his level of expertise bc my husband and I both work in surgery with him. I am a nurse in surgery and my husband is a surgical technician. I am looking to connect with someone that has been to this particular surgeon so I can get a better idea of what to expect postop. I am currently waiting on a reply from united for insurance approval. I plan to have my surgery mid march if all goes as planned. Hello! After visiting with my PCP, he and I have decided that gastric sleeve surgery is my best option for losing weight. He has referred me to a surgeon at HIS hospital. I'm guessing my PCP is required to recommend surgeons who work at the same hospital as he does... I am REALLY scared about the procedure! I need comforting words and recommendations for surgeons with excellent track records. I have read SO many horror stories about surgeons damaging other organs during surgery and post-op leaks that keep people from working/living life and even leaks that kill people! I know I can't be the only person who is scared and feels clueless! Please help

I have the nightmarish (if that's a word) lapband! Awful from the beginning!!!. I am going to have the band taken out and thinking about having the sleeve put in. When you are researching a surgeon in Mexico how do you know who is on his/her team? What are their qualifications? Most importantly the anesthesiologist. I never hear any reference to this side of the decision. Is it possible to get confirmation on who all the drs are that will be involved so that research can be completed before a final decision is made?

While the doctor self claims to have done more Bariatric sleeves than any other doctor in the world, do not expect anything more than a clean procedure from him. I was familiar and had heard about his reputation about being incredibly rude, aggressive and straight up, an asshole, to his patients. It almost comes across as a personality disorder. Read his reviews on yelp. I personally spoke to his office manager before hand and asked her about her opinion about the situation of his reputation. I tried to get an appt with Dr.'s Baghai and Takahashi but they are both booked til May! My insurance will only pay for me to go to these 3 doctors, who are all on the same team. Dr. Solomon is new to their team (joined last year) and has about 3 years experience in Bariatric / general surgery. He had an opening for next week so I took it! I was banded on 2-23-2010 by Dr. Esquivel and it went great. He is a great doctor, and i have had not complications.. He is used out of True Results, and they are also great. I love the staff there, and Jo - my advocate , kept me informed the whole time. i highly recommed True Results and Dr. Esquivel.
