I have been overweight for most of my life. I have some pictures of myself when I was a kid prior to gaining weight and I wonder what happened to that boy? I wish I could go back and tell him what his life will be like if he doesn't change. But as we all know we can not change the past and can only look towards the future. I keep wondering what my life would be like at a normal weight. people of average weight will not understand the difficulty of being obese. From only being able to shop at the Big and Tall for clothes to always sitting at a table at a restaurant because you can't fit in a booth.
Back in 2010-2011 I reached 517 which is the most I was weighed. I could barely walk 10 feet without my back killing me. Standing for more than 15 seconds hurt like hell and I had to lean up against something. I hated life. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and sleep apnea. I lost my job of 10 years in 2011 and had to go on disability because I couldn't move and who would hire someone like that?
I moved to Nevada to be closer to my sister and my nieces and nephew. I was able to loose some weight and got down to 399 in February of 2014. I was so happy, but of course it was short lived and I gained weight and got back to 467. I was approved for surgery and had it on February 9th of 2015. I am looking forward to being on the losing side and have now gotten out of the 400's. Now it is time to start living the life I should have instead of being a prisoner of this body.
