If anyone is looking for a great surgeon in AZ I can't say enough about Dr. Orris from Wliaz. They were exceptional in answering all of our questions and making sure we were comfortable. I had my surgery about 3 weeks ago and I couldn't be happier. I would recommend them to anyone looking into this type of procedure.

I am set for surgery April 10th but I have been doing some test because I have been under an enormous amount of stress with work and home issues and I had an echo cardiograph done and the Dr. said for me not worry but I had an enlarged left side of my heart and some high blood pressure In my heart. I really don't want to postpone my surgery but the soonest I can get to see the cardiologist is May. I know that this surgery will help improve my over all health and need it ASAP. Question is should I wait or not? I am starting the liquid diet this week. So.... any one have advise for me??.....

Hi! I'm new here. I had started the process 2 years ago with Dr. Nusbaum. I was approved and at the same time found out I was pregnant with my 3rd baby. Surprise! So obviously I had to postpone my WLS plans. Fast forward to last month. I went back to Nusbaum, nutritionist, psych eval, they were all ready to submit me and then they realized they don't take new insurance. Hi there, I just put down a deposit via Mexico Bariatric Centre for the Single Incision Sleeve with Dr Ponce de leon. I had done a ton of research and was feeling confident in my choice of doctor until someone (admittedly a representative of a competing surgeon) contacted me to tell me that only Dr Ortiz and Dr Vazquez are qualified for the single incision procedure. This freaked me out a little. I'm setting up my first consult with Dr. Shawn Stevenson with Evolve for my sleeve. But I can't really find anything on him, except he seems to move around a lot. Anyone have him as a doctor? I am seeing the surgeon again mid march to set my surgery date and I was wondering if anyone has had their surgery from the Red Deer bariatric clinic? Just wondering how long the wait for an actual surgery date might be? I have already done all the pre-op meetings and appointments, and lost my 10%, now just need the surgery.

I'm so lost with this whole process. I don't even know where to start. I have done the diet part with my primary doctor, but now I need to find a doctor in my area to do the surgery. I often hear how your surgeon should be board certified...has anyone ever used a doctor that was not board certified. I could never get the "right answer" after watching a bunch of YT videos. I just went to my pre-op class yesterday Oct. 28th and met with my surgeon for the last time. When I started this journey I was with a female surgeon but once she told me that she 'Won't' do the sleeve but will do the bypass I searched out a second opinion.....besides he was the one I wanted in the first place, but he was not offered when I went to my seminar (found out that different surgeons are set up at different towns). Anyway, at the seminar we was told what Dr. T does: first he'll staple your stomach, then he will hand stitch the line, then he'll apply 'surgical snow' (its a sealant). I'm brand new to this board. I met with a local bariatric surgeon (Dr Tod Eibes) for consultation for a sleeve and he told me that because I did not have any comorbidities and was under 40 BMI (36.7) that he wouldn't touch me. He said they are a Center of Excellence and get reviewed every 3 years and he would get marked down if he took me on. I was planning on self pay (I know insurance doesn't cover my situation) but he still said no. Help! Where in the USA could I go that would do this? He said no dr at a center of excellence would take me as a patient. (Not interested in Mexico, he told me someone died last just month in Tijuana)

Hello All! I just went to the Kaiser South Sacramento orientation on October 27th and have my appointment with the Surgeon (Dr. P Yenumula) on this upcoming Friday (Nov. 4). I'm hoping that I will be considered for surgery despite my lower bmi. I am currently at 5'2" and weight 200 lbs. My doctor began blood pressure meds for hypertension at my referral appointment but seemed to think that I wasn't a very strong candidate for WLS.
