  3. I went to the introduction seminar at Rex last night and was very impressed. I plan on having Dr. Sharp be my surgeon. Now I just need to go through all the tests and go to all the meetings so I can get insurance's approval.

  11. Have you been in touch with your surgeon? Maybe it's not how much you are eating but what you're eating. Are you taking all of the vitamins you're supposed to be taking? What about your calories? Too little calories can be almost as damaging to your metabolism as too many. Try to stick as closely to the amount that they recommend you eating. I wish you luck!
  12. I am looking into having it done in Raleigh. I have BCBS of NC insurance. Next week I will be attending REX hospital's information seminar.
  13. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina for state employees. I'm only a few weeks into the research process but would love to know who has had surgery in my area, where and with what surgeon? Thanks!!!
  14. I am 5'7" and 257 pounds. Being a teacher and on my feet all day my weight puts a lot of stress on my body and I have very little energy by the end of the day. I do not have any other health issues except for my weight. A few years ago I tried weight watchers and lost 35 pounds but gained back all of it plus another 50 pounds. I have tried nutritionists and several other changes to my eating habits but I am always hungry no matter what. I have been looking into having VSG for the past few weeks. I have an appointment set up with my general practitioner and have signed up for a seminar about bariatric surgery through Rex Hospital. I contacted BCBS and they went over all the requirements. I would like to know if anyone else out there has had their surgery covered by BCBS NC. How difficult was it to go through the whole procedure of getting approved by them? I am so scared that they're going to deny me the surgery.
