I am having a hard time understanding why I get so full so quick. I am 9 months out and thought by now that I would be able to eat more. I am basically only able to eat as much as I could at around 6 months. I get full very easily and then feel sick. I cut down my water from 8 cups a day to only 6 thinking that if I did that I would have more room for more food, but that isn't the case. I was getting around 90-100 grams of protein a day and even cut that down to around 70-80 and I am still extremely full all the time. Why is this happening at this stage? Has this happened to anyone else? Does it get better?

I am feeling sick all the time now. I thought this was supposed to get better as more time goes by? I am 9 months out and for the past month or so I feel completely nauseous most of the time. I have been trying to eat a little bit more so I don't lose anymore weight but feeling sick isn't allowing it. I started taking Miralax every day per my docs orders and think that this may be the cause of it? I had to cut back to every other day because it was making me have diarrhea. Now even though I am doing it every other day, I still have diarrhea and a bad belly ache/cramps every day. I called the docs office and they said to keep doing what I am doing and they will see what is…

Hi, I’m 7 weeks post op and for three days my stomach hurts. I had zero gas of pain since surgery until now. When I breathe in, it feels like a stitch. I can feel a tension but feels just a stitch. Is this gas pain??

I was diagnosed with a thyroid issue back in 2007. I have been on levothyroxine ever since. Before the WLS I was taking 150 mcg. A few months after surgery the doc decreased it to 137 mcg, now this past week she decreased it to 112 mcg's. My question for anyone who has had something similar is, does this ever completely go away so that you are no longer required to take meds for it?

I used to be a full 44C before surgery. Now a 36B is too big (the cups are gaping) . I wonder if I will be back in a training bra pretty soon. It is really depressing. I noticed I still have to wear a bra if I go out because they are really saggy now, and my nipples are always sticking out. Weird, because that rarely happened when they were bigger.

I just wanted to know if anyone is going through this or has? I’m pretty scared every now and then I eat or drink something and it’s kinda painful when it gets to the opening of the stomach, I have called my doctor and he had called me right away and will be running test but has anyone gone through it and might know maybe what it is.

I am 4 years 9 months post-sleeve surgery. It's been a very successful journey for me, for the most part. However, about a year ago I started having some serious GERD and over the past 3-5 months have been having a lot of pain when eating some things, followed by vomiting. Saw my surgeon and had an upper GI on Monday. The doc doing the study was cool, showed me everything and explained what she was seeing. I have a hiatal hernia, and the openings at both the top and bottom of my stomach are narrowed (I swallowed a 12mm barium pill that they should have been able to trace as it went through my system, but it never went any further than the top of my stomach). I have a cons…

I’m one month post-op of my bypass and just noticed that around my surgical scars I’ve developed some red inflamed looking hives that are very itchy. Has anyone else experienced this and if so how did you treat it? I appreciate any feedback that others may have!

Hi! I’m flying to Las Vegas in a couple weeks, I will just be 4 weeks post op after gastric sleeve. Going for my nephews graduation. I’m a bit nervous as I’ll be on puréed stage... in Vegas. ? any tips/tricks? I am overwhelmed and trying to figure out what I’ll eat, what I can pack, buy while I’m there or order. Anyone else travel during this stage? I’ll be just about 4 days shy of moving to the soft foods stage by then and even wonder if it’s safe to transition a bit early..(of course I will ask my surgeon ). Any advice is welcomed!

Hello! I had my surgery on December 26 so I am a few months in already. Starting last week I've been having numbness in my thigh and leg area and it is sort of tingly as well. Whenever I try to stand I look like I'm a child who is barely starting to take their first steps! I can't stay standing up for too long because I feel like my legs can give out on me at any moment. My legs already gave out on me twice these last two days and I fell onto the floor and my family needed to help me up. I cannot walk properly. I already went to the hospital and had everything checked out and they said everything is completely fine and that I'm am just lacking my B-12 vitamins. I wil…

So ever since I started on the high Protein diet pre-op, my boyfriend has been telling me that I have a bad odor... He says it has gotten worse the past 2+ weeks post-op where I have only had protein and fluids... He says he can smell it everywhere we go, though it is worse in small areas (car, in bed, etc.)... My hygiene has not changed at all (I shower daily); he seems to think it's the protein seeping out my pores emitting the bad smell... Has anyone else experienced this?? It's a little embarrassing, but if there are any suggestions as to how to stop it they will be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks! Meg

Hello I think this is really weird/funny. I went shopping the other day, and decided to try on some sandals. Before my surgery I wore 10 WW shoes. Now I am in a 9 regular shoe. I understand the width part as you lose weight. But how can your feet get shorter? LOL

Hi all, I am just 2 months post-surgery and am about to go on a cross-country road trip. I'll officially be on solid foods, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips for how to eat well when the only thing I'll have is a small cooler? I know I can do some lunch meat, cheese stick, etc. but I was also hoping for any advice on high protein or healthy snacks/meals that won't require any type of refrigeration. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

Hi all, three weeks post-op here and everything food-wise seems to be going fine. I also anticipated crazy hormones, but I didn't expect it to manifest as depression. I mean, we ramp up for months or years for this surgery, we finally get it, the weight is coming off, and ... the blues set in? That's my experience the past two weeks. My family is noticing it more and more and starting to worry. I'm on Effexor XR for anxiety and mild depression and have been for years. Could it be the XR isn't absorbing correctly with my sleeve? I haven't had any withdrawal symptoms so I assumed there were no issues. Anyone else very BLAH after surgery? I'm hoping things improv…

Today I’m 3 weeks post op and I’m also on my second week of purée foods. So far I’ve lost 20lbs pounds, however on 4/6, I weighed myself and the scale indicated I gained a pound (yikes ), yesterday 4/7, it remained at the 1 pound gain and this morning 4/8 it still remained at the one pound gain, however I peed and stripped myself naked and it went down some ounces for a pound difference. I haven’t ate anything out the norm of tuna or salmon with pumpkin or avocado puréed. Anyone experienced this? Or have advice?

So 5/18/21 was my gastric sleeve surgery. Just 6 years ago I was at my goal weight of 141. In 6 year I reached 267. The biggest I’ve ever been. in the past was 217, (31 years ago after the birth of my second daughter) I do believe I know the reason for so much weight gain in six years. If anyone is interested I’ll share later to compare stories. Anyway the first couple of days weren’t bad. I felt more pain then anything. But for three days now I’ve been hungry but have no intentions of not eating right. For now I’ve learned to stay out of the kitchen and my daughter is giving great support and encouragement. If anyone could share with me about bowel habits and changes, c…

How long did your post-op incision pain last? I know it'll take a while to fully heal but wondering how long it just feels like having a big open cut on your body where the main incision is. Also, I have always been a stomach sleeper. I didn't get any doctor instructions about how to/how not to sleep, but have found that sleeping on my stomach/the pressure against the incision helps with the pain. But it feels wrong to sleep on my stomach. Did any of you do this? Thank you!

Hi everyone, I have been suffering with Depression for 14 years. Some days, the symptoms are less intense and those are my good days. Other days it can be much worse. I’m on psych meds to help me cope. I am post op for about three weeks now after getting a gastric bypass done and I have noticed a few dips in my mood. I am trying to figure out whether these fluctuations are due to the gastric bypass op or my usual ongoing Depression. I know that I have been experiencing a lot of changes at the moment and that could be cause of my mood plummeting. In two days time, I will be graduating from the full liquid diet to puréed food. Just want to get an idea…

So this happens to me sometimes and is happening to me. Last week I lost 6lbs but this week, I’ve hit a stubborn stall. I am eating right as my program says and exercising, getting my protein/water. But I’m still stuck in a stall. It’s infuriating. Does this happen to anyone else? You lose, lose, and then stall?

Hi all I’m about 6 weeks post op and to be brutally honest I haven’t been eating the best. I’m eating healthy things but so much of it I feel like I’m sabotaging this sleeve. I can’t stop snacking on protein bars and yogurt with granola. I drink and literally countdown the 30 minutes after I drink to snack. It’s definitely mental and don’t know how to stop. I’m also now having some blood sugar issues. I was on metformin for about 2 weeks post op was doing well, blood sugars ranging from 87-110. Now at 6 weeks my blood sugars have been creeping up. Now it’s at 185! I hope I’m not the only one who went or is going through this. Could really use some advice. Thanks…

So I had my surgery on April 30th. I suffered from PCOS and irregular menstruation before surgery. I got my first post-op period 5 days after my surgery. It was very light. 26 days later I get my second period and again it's extremely light unlike the usual at all. Has anyone had this happen to them? It seems I'm periods are becoming more regular, I used to get my periods every 35-50 days before surgery. But I never got periods this light before. Also this time the cramping seems more intense whereas before surgery I hardly ever noticed any abdominal cramping before or with periods.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My doctor told me to take Miralax everyday. I feel this is bad for my system. I was told that we shouldn't rely on laxatives because then we will never be able to poop without them? Is anyone else doing this everyday? If so has it affected you negatively in anyway?

My surgery date was 5/5. On that day I weighed 260; today, 5/14, I weigh 257. So in nine days I have only lost 3 pounds. I am drinking 4 protein drinks per day for a total of 600 calories, adding in 60 ounces of water. So I am feeling discouraged. Is this normal?

I had the WLS close to 9 months ago and my nails including my toenails are so weak they are peeling, and breaking below the nail bed surface. So low in fact that my entire toenail peeled right off the other day and was bleeding for hours. I know that we are not absorbing nutrients as we were before, but this is getting really bad. My fingernails are disgusting, and I have to keep them filed all the way down to the fingertips. Is this happening to anyone else? If so, what did you do to fix/help it?

I had my RNY on April 8 and everything has been going well. The only thing I've dumped on was a little bit of a chicken skin (and I think I may have been eating too fast at that dinner, it was our first time hosting a dinner since my surgery and I was excited!). Anyways, in a week or two, my work is having a pizza party, and I was wondering when other people found they could tolerate pizza. I don't want to dump or have to leave work early because I ate something I shouldn't have, but I'd also love to have half a slice if it's not going to bother me too much. I'm also going to be sending my nutritionist this question, but I thought I'd check with some people's persona…

Hello all, I like spicy food like buffalo sauce, a bit of cayenne in my cooking, sriracha, etc. I had some cayenne in a feta/Greek yogurt dip and it was delicious but I **** my pants after!!! Granted, that is generally a side effect, but I stayed away from spicy after that. I ate spicy foods no prob while I was pregnant so this reaction is a surprise. If you enjoy some spice, when was it okay after surgery? I’m ~4 weeks out

Hello! A few months after my surgery my legs started becoming very weak and it gradually got worse. I had a few falls at home because of how bad it got and i went to see a few doctors. I had some physical therapy in Los Angeles but i want to have some more physical therapy in Tijuana. Does anyone know a place they can recommend for me to have physical therapy in Tijuana?

I’ve made it 4 weeks. I’m going back to work!!! Im very used to having everything at my disposal at home. But, what suggestions do you guys have for lunches, and/or snacks for work? I’m going to bring me some premier protein shakes for my mini fridge. But is there anything else that I should keep around? I’m super nervous about getting active again, I’m definitely going to take it slow. Just don’t want to accidentally starve myself due to not having much appetite.

Hi all Has anyone been diagosed with Peripheral Neuropathy post gastic sleeve? I am eight months out and have lost 98 pounds. I now have total numbess and an inability to move my toes in my right foot. I have been ready this diagnosis is common in gastic bypass patients, but I can't find anything regarding sleeved patients. Very scary, going through extensive diagnostic testing. Thanks for any input.

I am 6 weeks out of surgery and I already ran out of ideas of what to eat. I had been eating yogurts, cottage cheese, refried beans, cheese, scrambled eggs, and protein shakes. I don't feel like eating this anymore to the point where I just dont eat and will drink water instead. What else can I eat when I am hungry!?

My 3rd week post op has been really weird. It's my transition to soft solid foods, which I like, but now there's constipation even though I've been taking Benefiber. The scale has stopped. I'm eating 600-800 calories a day of all the right stuff. High Protein, low carb/fat, no cheating. 64 oz of Water. I'm not cleared for any exercise but walking normally (not strenuously). I've had days of really deep depression, and then the next day I'm fine. I know I'm healing and everything, but lordy! I can easily eat 1 cup of soft solids (ground meat, cooked veggies). Is that too much? Drinking fluids is also no problem. I still feel hunger, but it's not as bad. I have a …

Just converted from sleeve to bypass 2 days ago and already losing my mind. The first time wasn't as difficult because it was for weight loss and I was pumped, this time is for GERD relief. I HATE sweets. I could go an entire lifetime without sweets but all the protein drinks are sweet. To combat that does anyone have any suggestions of some soups they ate during phase 2? I was thinking strained chicken noodle soup, strained top ramen, or strained minestrone because regular fat free low sodium broth made me vomit. My doctor just said clear liquids but did not specify or give me ideas. Tyia

1 full week tomorrow and I feel great. I could probably return to work (at home desk job) tomorrow but I’m going to take another week. I am getting in plenty of fluids, no problem. I can drink 2 Promeir Protein shakes over the day but then I’m done. I’m getting 60 grams in but feel like I could get more but I’m so over the shakes. I have a texture thing… so things that don’t taste how they normally do because they are thinned with milk seem gross to me. Should I just stick it out or should I try to mix it up to get more protein in? I see Dr. on Tuesday.

I am about 7 months out and I find that I need to eat more frequently to prevent hunger (genuine with stomach growling), however I find that I am snacking on things that are not protein rich and then not meeting my protein goals. Any ideas for snacks? both naturally occurring protein and bars, snacks, foods that I can purchase. Thanks!
