Hi everyone. Thanks, if you're reading this, and thanks to any of you that can offer any kind of advice. I am 6 weeks and 1 day post-surgery today. I had my surgery on 5 June 2021. I had the gastric sleeve. I've had loads of concerns since I came out of surgery, but recently, since about the beginning of week 5 (so for around two weeks now) I've been having some really uncomfortable feelings. Around an hour after I've eaten, no matter what time I eat or what food I actually eat, I have these gnawing hunger pangs in my stomach. The same kind of feeling I would get pre-surgery in the morning if it had been a long time since I ate. But I'm getting it really regul…

Hi guys, I got my sleeve surgery in November of 2019, I took two pregnancy tests today (8/4/21) and I’m 99% sure I’m pregnant. Haven’t verified with the doctors and it would be my first baby. I’m nervous as far as how much food I’m able to eat, I can obviously eat a bit more but still not a lot. I’m worried as far as what vitamins I should take to be sure I have a healthy pregnancy and keep this baby strong. Any advice would be amazing, thank you.

Hi all, I am 22 years old and I had my gastric sleeve done on June 26th... I've had a really rough time ever since I got surgery, mentally and physically... I question if I made the right decision on doing this? Most of the time I don't feel like eating because I feel nauseous. I take the pills that my doctor prescribed for the nauseous feelings but it seems like it doesn't help. I have no motivation to do anything, I just want to be in bed all day. I cry most of the time thinking about how I have no motivation for anything... I just want to know if anyone else feels like this or has felt like this? What has helped? And when did everyone start feeling better...?

Hello guys, This is my first post here. I stumbled upon this page on Google and was reading some of the topics and this community seemed very supportive. I thought I'd give it a try. So I'm one week out of post op gastric bypass. I was in the hospital for about 3 days and I've been home since. I have to say the first couple days I was in horrible pain, way worse than I anticipated. While in the hospital I drank very small amounts and barely ate anything. They gave us little 30ml cups to pour liquids into. We had the option of water, apple/cranberry juice diluted 50/50 with water, skim milk and ice chips. They also gave us a jello every day at lunch and a…

Hi Everyone! I was hoping I could get some guidance! I feel like ever since I've been told that I can eat soft foods my weight has stayed the same!! My surgery was on July 14th and 1 week later my dr approved me to start soft foods since I was recovering well. Now, one week later I got on the scale only to see that my weight is the exact same!! Now, i've already been told about the dreaded 3-week stall but mine is happening at 2 weekss ? Nothing has changed besides eating soft foods and usually, I can only squeeze in dinner. For 2 weeks post op, my eating schedule has been AM Protein shake which takes hours for me to finish. Water Gatorade W…

I'm going to have a revision to bypass. I have the sleeve. With the sleeve, I went home right after surgery. I'm kind of stressing about staying at the hospital overnight. Like what to pack? I was wondering what they give you at the hospital as far as drink/food. Should I bring drinks, protein or broth... Etc.? Thanks in advance!

So I thought I would upgrade my scale - got a Withings smart scale to be able to track my weight/muscle mass/water weight, etc. I hopped on my old scale first and then the new one right after (I only weigh once a week to avoid any mind games) - and the new one is 1.8 lbs higher than the old (on the same flooring and all). I know it’s not a true “gain”, but especially at this point, 1.8 lbs is a lot and it’s depressing to see in Baritastic app that my weight went up a little. I’m so close to my initial goal (which I am thinking of adjusting down another 10 lbs) so it’s really tough. I know, it’s a one time uptick but still, I haven’t had it go in the wrong direction. …

I am one month post-op and have been having a hard time with smells and my gag reflex. I had an issue with this prior to surgery at a much lower level and didn't really think much about it going into surgery. Sometimes I can even just think about how something might smell or taste and it makes me sick to my stomach and even gag. I'm having a hard time keeping things down and definitely cannot do anything chewable for Vitamins. I have found that the Isopure Protein drinks are OK for me and I can sip on them all day. food is hit-or-miss depending on the day and depending on my reflexes. I have read a lot of different forums where people have similar stories but I'm not real…

I'm almost one year out and down 89#, which is 28# short of my goal weight. That said, I already look "thin", to the point that family & friends - and now me - are questioning why I'm trying to lose the additional weight. I'm 5'6" & 158#. I'm wearing a size small/medium and a size 6 in pants. I'm also planning to have skin removal surgery in the next year or so. While I'm still going to stick to my post-op diet, I no longer feel the need to continue losing. Is this a common thing?

Hi. This is my first ever post. I had RNY Gastric Bypass on May 19th, so I'm almost 10 weeks post op and I can't eat. Everything smells and tastes so bad, I can't even get it in my mouth without gagging and throwing up. I'm miserable, weak and so depressed because I can't even do anything with my kids. I can hardly keep water down most of the time, I've talked to my surgeon and they just keep telling me to eat, but I physically can't. Is anyone else dealing with this or has dealt with this? I'm really regretful at this point. I've already lost 70lbs but I'm just not sure that it's worth it at this point, please someone help me.. advice, your story anything, please.

I am now almost 4 months out and I feel that I am able to eat too much. I can eat two scrambled eggs in a meal. I have also been able to eat an entire sandwich ( with one thin piece of ham, lettuce and tomato) another day. I drink a lot of water and I still do a protein shake almost every day. But its it bad that I can fit alot like two eggs? I have lost a total of 53lbs since the surgery but its been a month that I have not lost anything and I even think I regained 2 pounds. I am so scared for this not to work.

Hi everyone! I would really appreciate some help. I am 6 weeks past my sleeve surgery. I'm am very discouraged and disappointed. I lost about 20 lbs in the beginning, only because of the pre op diet where I barely ate anything and the 2 weeks after the surgery but it has been downhill from there. I know the sleeve is "not a magic solution, its a tool" and so on! I've heard it all too many times. But I would assume that if I eat like ten percent of what I used to eat I would lose weight, but I haven't. I do eat starches and foods that I may not supposed to, but much less than before. I am really struggling with dieting. If I didn't struggle with dieting, I woul…

Hey everyone I’m new to this site, but have been getting a ton of information from everyone so thank you!! I’m due to be sleeved on 8/10 and have a question. For those of you who have had weight-loss surgery how have you guys managed eating in social settings? Especially for those of you who have not necessarily told the people who would be in those settings that you underwent the surgery. I will be returning to my work and school environment where I’ll be around people for 10+ hours a day (including meal breaks that we do in group settings). I’m wondering how I can eat without looking awkwardly suspicious at the table. With the weight dropping off I don’t wan…

I am 10 days post up and everything has been great so far! I don't have any pain, and I'm able to go about and do my daily business. Things are going well with my sleeve and I'm doing a good job of getting water and protein along with a few small puree meals. Literally the only thing driving me nuts is my scale. I have been textbook following the plan eating less than 500 calories a day, lots of water, 60 g of protein, and I have lost a whopping three maybe four pounds since surgery date. I usually walk a couple of miles every day, just at a leisurely stroll right. I do see my body changing, so I know something is happening. But how on earth can I eat so little for so man…

Hello everyone. I’m 3 days post op and I’ve been having this excruciating pain on my largest incision. I’ve heard that is where the stomach was pulled from and that there would be the most pain in that area. The thing is, I get this stabbing, pulling, burning sensation at this incision whenever I try to go on walks. I also noticed a small part of that incision was a little wet. It’s nothing too drastic, just a little wet spot. However, I’m am worried about a leakage or a possible infection. Anyone else deal with something similar? Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone. I’m currently on day 4 out from the sleeeve. Since I’m on full liquids, I was wondering if I still have to wait 30 min before and after my “meal” to continue drinking water/liquids. My “meal” is usually 2-3 oz of a protein shake or a protein drink. Since it’s only liquids, should I continue waiting 30 min before and after to drink more liquids? Thanks in advance.

Hi all, I had the gastric sleeve surgery done in December and found out I was pregnant in May. I know it was advised to wait 12-18 months before getting pregnant, but I had a slip up. It’s all good news to me seeing as I never thought pregnancy would be possible at all for myself. I think like all first timers I am nervous about many things, my surgeon called me to reassure me that while it’s not ideal he is sure everything is going to be fine. I’ve lost nearly 85 pounds, but this week gained 2. Anyways, I was wondering if there are any other sleevers who have gotten pregnant and if they could tell me what their experience was like, during pregnancy and after. Will th…

Hello everyone. I am 3 days post op I’m having trouble consuming the recommended 60-80 grams of protein AND 64 ounces of water. I opened up an 11 oz can of pure protein with 35 grams of protein and it’s taken me 3 days to finish the single can. I am now able to drink liquids without throwing up (one small victory!) but I’m worried that I am not drinking enough protein and liquids. Any tips? One last thing, I used to chug water down like crazy pre-op, how big/small are the sips I’m supposed to take? At this rate, I’ll never reach my goals! :(

I have my 16 week follow up appointment with my surgeon next week and have anxiety even thinking about it. My surgeon is downright rude, demeaning, and dismissive. I’ve lost 62lbs in 15 weeks yet every time I visit he mentions a phantom weight that I started at (15lbs less than my actual REAL pre surgery weight) and discredits the amount of weight I’ve lost. I’ve asked where he got this number from and I’m just told “this is what we have in your chart” (from where?!) I’m told that I need to weight 150lbs to be healthy. At 5’11 I would have to lose 20lbs of lean mass and be zero percent body fat to weight this - aka dead! My labs are all perfect, I no longer require a CPAP…

So my wife had VSG surgery yesterday 7/14/21 afternoon. She immediately had excruciating pain (on the left side incision where the stomach was pulled out) when getting out of or in the hospital bed, sitting on the toilet or standing up. Pain so bad she is screaming and crying from it. Can't even scoot back into a chair without crying out in pain. We are still in the hospital, she is on as much pain meds as they can give her so she is knocked out most of the time. The nurse and surgeon say this pain is completely normal. I have read alot of the groups where many say VSG surgery is less painful than a C-section. My wife has been through 2 C-sections and a emergen…
