Anyone takes sips of water or soup and feel gurgling in the stomach or esophagus like they just swallowed air? Even though you know you didn’t? It almost feels like that first sip of a very carbonated beverage only it might just be water

I’ve recently been diagnosed with ADHD as an adult and have started taking Adderall XR. My doctor was concerned with my absorption that it may not work so well and I am inclined to agree. It makes me very tired all day and I’ve lost all motivation to do ANYTHING. The first week of it I was hyper focused and accomplished so much but then as I got used to it it quit working. Also I have a hell of an energy dip between 2:30-5:00pm consistently despite all the right vitamins, water and protein. Has anyone else dealt with this? Or tried a different medication with success?

I am 2 weeks post op and haven't lost any weight yet. I lost 23lbs pre-surgery so I'm trying not to be discouraged but it's tough! I'm struggling with being hungry, tired, and grouchy. I know the hunger is mostly in my head. But I'm always tired and I'm not sure if my meds that had been previously working for my mental health are not working anymore or if it's just all the changes or all of the above. The lack of weightloss has been really hard to deal with. I know it's not going to just melt off but even 1 or 2 pounds in 2 weeks would have made it feel like this wasn't a mistake. If this is the dreaded "3 weeks stall" how do I get passed it? How long does it last? I'm de…

Out of curiosity why is it we have to wait a certain amount of weeks to work our way back to solids? Why not just go from clear liquids to trying mushed food in small amounts etc?

Hi All, It’s been 7 years since my gastric sleeve surgery and I am currently at 194 Lbs (topped the scale at 268). My current issue is, when I eat meals the hungry does not subside, my stomach fills up quickly, where I cannot finish my portion, yet, I am not satisfied and eating more doesn’t end the hunger, just makes me uncomfortable. Do others suffer from this, any suggestions?

Hi all so I’ve tried searching for this but couldn’t find anything. I’m personally no where near the maintenance phase but for those who are do you imbibe? Is it anywhere as much as before? Does alcohol really hit you that much harder?

One of the good things about this new lifestyle is I’ve really taken more of an interest in cooking. That being said anyone notice any particular culture or cuisine has recipes that works well for the lifestyle change?

  12. Started by Christina Phillips,

Not sure if this is where I should ask this but, I was doing some house work today nothing major and noticed my pants were sliding down a tad and went to pull them up and I noticed I felt like something a little wet. Well it's like hardly nothing but still....it was one of my bigger incisions (from the bypass I had 4 and half weeks ago) that had a teeny tiny of blood and I'm guessing pus coming out. At first I was freaking but it's really not alot but I thought I was all closed up for good lol I know I should probably call my dr but I really hate calling them:( has anyone else had an issue like this?

  14. Hi Everyone , I just had my surgery yesterday and I’m going through a wave of emotions. I’m relieved and glad that it’s over BUT this reflux pain is out of this world . Every time I take the smallest sip of water , it goes down my chest fine but once I gets to my stomach then it feels like it’s on FIRE. Therefore, I haven’t been able to eat at all. Honestly, without drinking, it burns in general just sitting here typing . I’ve been walking yesterday evening , through the night and this morning so I’m not even sure if this is just gas. I’m going to pick up my meds but is there any other supplement you all recommend? All answers are appreciated, thank you!

I hope this is not dramatic but I am sure it is LOL. I am two weeks post op and had a bite of spaghetti. It was just a bite, a size of a dime. I know it is bad. It went down fine but I am scared I have ruined everything. I just tried it to make sure it was the right temperature for my son. I am on a two week clear liquid diet and I am really struggling. I should be getting cleared for pureed tomorrow or Thursday and it can't come soon enough.

What are your thoughts about using a prescription strength appetite suppressant after weight loss surgery? I had my surgery in May of this year and I absolutely do not want to gain any weight back now or after reaching my goal. But…I love food, love to eat and still graze with now smaller, healthier portions. Please let me know what do you think? Or can anyone relate?

I had the sleeve surgery 2 days ago. I have been pretty nauseous the entire time since then. They gave me medications in the hospital which helped. Now I have to try to take the medicine they gave me to fight it off at home. The only problem is there are larger pills and I'm supposed to crush them. How do I take them once they're crushed? Will I have to mix them with water? I'm really worried that it will taste disgusting and that will make me vomit. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I would really appreciate it.

For some reason the last 2 days I have been super weak and shaking. I have been drinking water and protein shakes and taking vitamins. Idk why I'm so tired and feeling so shaky. I am going through some personal things so maybe it's just my depression kicking in? Idk but I didn't walk at all outside today or yesterday, and I was just getting good at doing it a few times a day too! my dr wants me to be walking 10 miles by the time I go for my 6week check up! I do notttt see how that's possible! I hurt everywhere and that's when I barely walk a whole mile! Let alone 10! Idk whats going on. I’m 4 days out of DS and I’ve been trying to sip water all day! I only got about 18 Oz down. I also sipped 2 x 3 oz strained miso soup ate 2 x 2oz sugar free protein pudding, 2 Oz sugar free protein jello, and 1 tablespoon light Greek yogurt. I’m feeling quite week. I do keep my bottle Igor next to me and I take tiny sips every 10 minutes. If you’re in the liquid phase, how are you doing sipping? Any tips?

  21. I am 3 days out from VGS. Obviously there's going to be some pain from surgery and the air they pumped in. That being said, is it normal to have waves of pressure/pain? Specifically, it starts locally near my diaphragm and then radiates outward for a period of about 5 seconds. Then it goes away entirely, just to have a another wave a few minutes later. Has anyone else experienced this?

I had the gastric bypass the end of April and have lost 25 lbs over the last 2.5 months.. I feel my weight loss has literally halted here. Does anyone have advice on changes they made when they noticed stalls? I drink over 50ozs of water a day a protein shake and yogurt { Danon light and fit with 12 grams protein and also try to eat some oatmeal for breakfast and veggies and grilled chicken for dinner. Along with waking 2 miles every day. I’m following all of the advice but have literally only lost 1 lb in the last 2 weeks which is very frustrating. I’m shocked to see how slow my weight loss has been with such a calorie deficit.has anyone else experienced this issue and …

I had my sleeve surgery on May 24th and I’m officially 6 weeks out. I’ve lost 30 lbs and I’m feeling really great. No real complications or any pain or discomfort. Here’s the thing: I worry I’m not losing enough in these beginning stages. The past few weeks have been small 1-2 lb losses and I feel myself starting to panic. Not to mention, some days my pouch feels like it is teeny tiny and other days I can eat a bowl of cereal or a few handfuls of popcorn and feel like I could eat MORE! I’m following my nutritionist and surgeon’s calorie, protein, and water guidelines (600-900, 65+, 64+), walking daily, taking vitamins, and talking to my counselor on a weekly b…

Hello all I am 16 days post op from gastric sleeve. I lost 10 pounds quickly the first 5 days after surgery and have been at the same weight for 11 days now. ? I have been following my program: meeting water goals, starting supplements when I was supposed to and following the food plan. I know that stalls are to be expected, but darn it if it isn’t frustrating! When will it end? I am putting it out into the universe that I want to bust through this wall! How long did your stall last and was it right after surgery for you as well? On the positive side: I am already off of 3 of my 4 blood pressure meds, feel good, and have been sleeping great. She is not in the greatest health and she's always my main support. I don't know what I'd do if she died. I don't want the same thing that happened to my great uncle to happen to her. Because he died of heart complications recently and it's made me scared of my grandmother getting open-heart surgery for the 3rd time. I need someone I can contact and meet up with who lives in Northern California preferably in Sacramento that has had Gastric Bypass and has kept the weight off for a long time/is successful. Does anyone know/ have experience getting their hair highlighted while in this phase? Will it make my hair fall out faster or do more damage than usual? I know everyone is different but I wanted to see if anyone had experience with this!! Thank you!

Aside from your surgeon’s recommendation for you…………. Which procedure YOU felt was best for you & why? I feel like since I am a foodie-I LOVE real food , I was an emotional eater , I have heart burn often, im over 100lbs overweight, I am over the age of 30( losing weight seems like an impossible task nowadays ), my metabolism is low, I plan on getting pregnant at least once in the future and portion control has been a major issue= Gastric bypass is best for me.

So, at 6 months out. I have lost 67 pounds and then 23 t before. So I am at 90lbs down. I have been avoiding here because I feel like I see so many people lose that in 3 months. I swim 4 times a week. My doctor says because I am muscular, that is why I don’t lose as quickly. I’m putting on muscle as I work out but I just don’t see the scale move. Sometimes, it just feels like I’ll never get there. I was stalled for 2.5 weeks. Now I am back down to losing but seemingly taking forever to break into the next weight bracket. Is anyone else a slow loser? I honestly hate it but don’t know how to speed it up. I get around 800 calories a day, I get my Protein, I don’t cheat, I …

  31. I am 7 days post up, half way through my full liquid stage. I find myself not getting full or even feeling satisfied at all at this early phase. I am sure that will change once I move onto foods with more substance, but right now I'm absolutely miserable. I'm not in pain from the surgery which I'm thankful for. I know part of it is psychological but is there anything anyone has found that is filling? I've tried strained bean soups, strained creamed soups, adding protein powder, and increasing my water intake. I'm keeping my calories low, and eating slowly. I appreciate any advice and suggestions!!!

I know this may sound ridiculous but in the past two weeks I’m experiencing rapid loss of about a lb a day, and I feel like it should be slowing down. Is it possible I’m not getting enough protein? I didn’t go through all of this just to wreck my body further and I want to make sure I’m doing everything I can to be as healthy as possible. Is this just normal? From weeks 3-5 my loss slowed down a bit so maybe this is the normal cycle? I had sleeve if that makes a difference. I do drink all my water and I’m measuring out my food. I walk 5 days a week. If not normal I’m ready to call my doc. Crazy how unpredictable the body is!

  33. Will be a month post op and I am having a hard time. I have only lost 13lbs down 4 dress sizes, but find myself forgetting to chew and now i am.entering 4th week getting hungrier more often then even before my surgery. I am very stressed and emotional. Really doing this on my own and I am having a hard time and scared of failing. I have not followed the times I need to eat sometimes I cant sleep and wake up late. There are times I am not hungry and times i eat a yogurt or something and im hungry within an hour.

So, I'll start this off by stating I've never really done a fine dining style experience. My husband and I eventually want to try Victoria and Albert's (in the Grand Floridian in Disney World). We'd like to go for our anniversary, which will be about 8 months post-RNY surgery. Their meal style is a whole bunch of courses (6-8). Each individual dish is pretty small. Does anyone have any experience with eating at this type of restaurant post-surgery? Is it out of the question given the smaller tummy or do you think we can still have a good time? Should I perhaps wait an additional year and we can try for our next anniversary? Note: This is assuming it is reopened by th…

Hi All, What are your experiences with dumping syndrome? I very foolishly ate a some marmite with a thin slice of Edam cheese in mini tortilla wrap tonight (I thought if I chewed it thoroughly I would be fine). I have been up most of the night with excruciating cramps, gas and rumblings that I swear sound like they are coming up from the depths of hell[emoji1785] I didn't even eat that much. I am also careful to space out my eating and drinking. I guess this teaches me a lesson to check the amount of carbs I eat at each meal. I hope it does not last long[emoji1785] Eager to hear what your experience has been. Sent using BariatricPal mobile app[/url]

I am 10 weeks post op and so far have had a pretty good experience, taken all the advice and been very much a rule follower. On Friday last week we went to an annual Prawn Day fundraiser and I had one weetbix and zymil milk for breakfast with no issue. At midday I had one prawn, half a moreton bay bug (very small lobster like crustacean) and one oyster. Probably a total of 1/3 to 1/2 cup of food. I had this over a period of half an hour or more, and well after half a very small glass of rose wine. 10-15 minutes after the oyster, I felt this god-awful rush to my face, breathlessness, rapid heart rate, dizziness, shaking and wanted to roll over and pass out. I am having a different kind of abdominal pain in the last day or so near the biggest incision. Everything looks normal, it feels like soreness under the skin, like a dull pain. It's not very strong pain, 2/10, but it's different from what I was experiencing before (tearing/burning feeling around the incision when I made some movements but not this dull feeling). Almost feels like a muscle strain or something and it's freaking me out. I was thinking it could be gas but it's just on the right side of my abdomen. Is that something any of you experienced?

  41. So this is a bit of an odd one. Has anyone noticed that the weight loss post surgery (I had VSG) is less noticeable compared to when you lost weight before? To explain a little more, I’m almost 14 weeks out and down 59lbs… but I don’t look like I’ve lost that much. Before, a loss of 10-15lbs was noticeable to me both on how I looked in the mirror and how my clothes fit. I do notice a SLIGHT difference through my weekly progress pics now and my clothes are fitting better, but it just doesn’t seem anywhere close to 60lbs. I find this a bit disconcerting on several levels. My goal weight isn’t a must for me, but how I look is. I feel like I’m maybe not losing fat the way I u…

I lost quite a bit on the pre opp diet went from 281 to 264. (In 2 weeks). So was surprised at the low weight loss this week. I've been really good with my protein and haven't had over 800 calories a day. I just don't understand it.

  48. Hello I am 7 days out from a sleeve and feeling well overall. I am able to drink multiple gulps of broth, water and non protein liquid without difficulty at all. I feel a mild sense of fullness after, but that’s it. I think I have no problem meeting my liquid quota, just a little short on the protein. I am worried that this ability to drink a lot of liquid at one time means my sleeve is not small enough or that they didn’t take enough and that I won’t be as successful in my journey. Other thoughts include, “does this ability to drinking so much liquid without difficulties mean my sleeve will stretch?” I am neither hungry nor thirsty. However, there is …
