Alcohol during maintenance??

Hi all so I’ve tried searching for this but couldn’t find anything. I’m personally no where near the maintenance phase but for those who are do you imbibe? Is it anywhere as much as before? Does alcohol really hit you that much harder?

Honestly I think alcohol was the downfall of my maintenance phase. My body metabolize it faster and a drink or two when you get it. This led to me wanting to drink more and over the years I definitely added weight to my body because my eating habits haven’t changed much

Because I plot my weight with MyFitnessPal, I've been able to see how incredibly much water retention occurs when I indulge in drinking beer for a few days in a row. I can gain up to four pounds of bloating which remains in my system for about a week after I've stopped drinking the beer. Then I finally return to my normal weight.

This doesn't happen when I drink lite beer, though. I really think I'm going to stop drinking regular beer altogether, though, not only because of the water retention but because just one can causes a relatively awful sense of inebriation that can last up to three hours.

With my surgeons blessing I tried alcohol just recently (4.5 months out) keeping in mind that it is empty calories. My preferred drink was rum and Diet Coke so I had rum and crystal light. Well, it tasted so bad that I couldn’t even get it down fast enough to get a buzz. So for me, knowing that I was just drinking a ton of empty calories that tasted bad, it wasn’t even worth it. But no, it definitely did not hit me harder or faster??
