Yesterday I had a bite of cauliflower pizza and felt sick. I threw it up (my first time ever throwing up since surgery) and have felt nauseous since then. After I threw up I was nauseous lying down for about 30 min then it went away. I woke up today and was instantly so nauseous I needed to sit down. I’m lying down currently and my heart rate is in the 100s. I’m scared any advice?

So i just had a sleeve to bypass done a week ago yesterday. I have no pain any more a week after surgery. What is concerning is even though I am still on the clear thin liquids i find that i am drinking alot more and I mean ALOT more than i did when I had my sleeve. Last week in the hospital i was drinking maybe 4 ounces a day but a week later i can get down over a gallon of water over the period of a day. The same time frame with my sleeve i couldn't get down 2 ounces without feeling that restriction. Is this normal? This worries me as that restriction is what helped me to stay in line for the most part of two years with my sleeve. Once the food stage come…

Hello, I had surgery 3/3( gastric bypass) then bowel obstruction surgery on 3/12( surgeon obstructed my bowels during the first surgery). Yesterday I made 6 weeks and I’ve been good with my food no vomiting but I measure everything and I learned yesterday when my nose starts to run stop eating( lol). The only meats I’ve tried so far is chicken and salmon. I’m terrified of eggs( I’ve heard horror stories). I’m still working on getting my fluid in I literally sip all day in between meals and still can’t get to 64oz. Maybe tomorrow I’ll start waking up at 5:30am. I’ve lost 44 pounds since surgery and 54 all together. This week I hit a stal ? probably because I’ve been houseb…

Hi. I had my gastric sleeve surgery awhile ago. I initially loss weight, then gained, then loss. In 2019, I really started to try to loose weight by changing my diet. My diet is a low-carb, no sugar, high protein diet. Pre surgery, I was 289 pounds. In 2019, I was 252 pounds. By mid-2020, I was 178 pounds. Since then, I haven’t lost any additional weight, but I haven’t gained any weight, either. At 178, I’m still a good 15 pounds overweight. My PCP told me not to be concerned, since I feel good and have lost a lot of weight. Has anyone plateaued above the ideal weight for their height? Have you been able to overcome the plateau to loose more weight? If…

I am six weeks post surgery. Drinking makes me nauseous. I barely get 48 ounces of liquid per day. Plain water is especially difficult. I keep trying different things, different temperatures, flavored water, tea, milk, crystal light, etc. Sometimes flavored water will be good one day and make me nauseous the next Has anyone else struggled with this problem? How long did it take to get better.

Hi! I wonder if my weight loss is going with the right pace. I had surgery on 13 march, and the first time I weighted myself was on 17 march - 93,2 kg (~ 205 ib) and today (21.04) I weight 86,8 kg (~191 ib). Now, I know that I started with not such a huge obesity, but still, am I going to slow? I haven't started working out yet, so it may change a bit.

I had surgery 7 weeks ago and I’ve seen my surgeon twice since then. I was cleared to start regular food at 4 weeks (week 1-clear liquids week 2-full liquids week three pureed/soft). I did have beef once when I was cleared for solids, but I don’t think I should have. Anyways I’m paranoid that I’ll get a leak. I’m still kind of scared to eat and most of the time I eat I get really scared, because my appetite came back and sometimes I eat too fast.Any advice or reassurance? Every time I search in this forum for the exact food I ate and read everyone’s responses before I eat. And then I see people saying they found a leak like 2 months after surgery and it really freaks me ou…

Hi friends, A bit upset and sad. I’m at day 20 since my VSG and have only lost two lbs since April 3rd. I’m eating the 800-1000 calories my doctor asked of me but I’m not losing any weight. I feel like I’m doing something wrong or made a mistake. I lost 20lbs in the first 9 days but now I’m at a standstill. I’ve heard of the 2nd or 3rd week stall but 10 days sounds a bit much. I’m starting to wonder if I made a mistake. It’s really getting to me. I hear of all these people getting full after three bites of food and I’m not one of them. I’m constantly hungry and snacking on the meals I’m allowed to have Please help I’m really going through it right now. Mark

It's been 9 months and a few weeks out. I still get light headed when I stand up from sitting. Lasting just a few second to close to a min. I just hold still and hold on to something to just ground me. I drink as much as told to do, I eat the right things, and take my meds/vit and get enough sleep. I have to wear oxygen when I sleep do to my O2 drops to the mid to low 80s. And I wondering how long does this last. Or am I not doing something right.

I’m a few days post op and I’m finding it very hard to get my protein. Since popsicles are the only thing I can really tolerate. Anybody ever tried making protein popsicles ? I found a recipe on google I was going to try or does anyone have a recipe.

All, I'm 8 months out and down 82.5# - still about 30# from my goal. I've noticed over the last few weeks (maybe a month or so) that I've had increased joint pain and a lot of bruising. The bruising isn't "severe" per se, but there's a lot of it. I counted 14 bruises all over my body yesterday - some worse than others. I have a big painful one on my left shin...almost as if I bumped into something, but I didn't. I also have dime-sized bruises under my biceps. Not sure what's going on. The joint pain is getting almost unbearable. Ankles, knees, hips, back, shoulders, neck - you name it - I'm sore all over. I'm still taking all my vitamins & supplements (I added li…

Hey! I was hoping that someone had some insight for me! Does anyone work as a teacher or trainer or something of that sort? I don't go back to work for a few more weeks; however, I am really concerned about getting my fluids and nutrition in. I work in a hospital, teaching/training adult learners. The classes are in person, and I will need to be wearing a mask the entire time. We obviously get breaks...but I don't know how I will be able to eat anything in 15 min...let alone get all the fluids in I need to all day if I need to wear a mask the entire time, plus not chug or choke down some food. I could probably get medical documentation to be off longer, but I a…

I’ve been on my puréed stage for a week and a half now and I’m feeling really discouraged. I am constantly hungry. I had 2 tbsp of cream of wheat for Breakfast made with 1/2 c Fairlife skim milk.... was hungry about an hour later. So, I had a smoothie I made (1 c. Fairlife, 1/2 container greek yogurt, 2 tbsp blueberries, 2 tbsp raspberries, 1/4 banana, 1 scoop genepro). 11 am rolled around... I was hungry again! I waited until lunch(12:00 for me) and had 1/4 c ham salad and 3 tbsp cottage cheese. At 3 pm I was hungry again! I am so stinking frustrated. Am I doing something wrong? What is going on? I feel like I'm overeating and ruining my new stomach!

I had my bypass on 03.17.21. The pain has been intense. It was manageable the first couple weeks home but seems to be worse now. It is getting to the point that walking to the bathroom or making something to drink is painful. I feel like I am being stabbed. I am still on pureed foods for another couple weeks. I have been very careful and would have thought the pain would be less. Very frustrating since I am the type of person who is always on the go. Anyone else have this issue? Should I be worried and contact the NP?

After about ten years of not seeing the scale go down, Post Surgery I can see the scale go down and down and I can't believe it! This is shocking to me as for the past ten years it has been slowly going up and up. I had been thinking about surgery for around ten years and went through two programs completing them only to back down, then on the third program finally I was ready. I think what pushed me was that I was in it heart and soul basically mentally and physically ready for the whole process. I had great fear and so I knew it is fear because I am not taking it serious and doing what they are asking me to do. there are so many steps and even once you pass them your mi…

So I’m in my second week post op and this liquid diet is driving me up the wall. My dr has me on the longest liquid diet and I just can’t take it anymore. I had 1 week clear liquid preop then 1 week clear liquid post op. Then 2 weeks full liquid. So April 22nd is when I’m supposed to start the puréed but when I say I absolutely HATE broth I truly mean in. I’ve tried so many and none of them are good to me. I’ve even made homemade and tried different flavors. I love soup with chicken and noodles but just the broth tastes so disgusting to me. I really want to follow this diet but I’m ready to be on puréed. And it’s not helping that I feel so fatigued and hungry all the time…

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some comfort words from any veterans out there who've had gastric bypass surgery a while ago, I had mine on the 12th, so this past Monday, it's day 1 and a half of being home now, and I feel super uncomfortable, super bloated, like I can't drink or think of drinking anything. I can barely fit the protein shake and a bit of water, but I'm feeling too full and gassy. Is that normal? I've tried walking several times a day, they gave me tablets for gas, and tried drinking as much water as possible, but obviously there's always that worry in the back of your head that you've done something wrong or that something is wrong. How was your first…

Hello everyone. I had my sleeve done on 3/30 so I’m about 2.5 weeks post op. The first week was all clear liquids and I stuck to that fine, I didn’t really have much hunger. I noticed toward the end of that week though that I had no issue meeting and even exceeding my surgeons water recommendations - I should have 60oz and I can easily take in 80+ oz. I thought this was good for hydration. Once full liquids and now puréed food has started though I am STARVING. And I never was before. I know the difference between head hunger (which I do have and fight) and actual hunger - this will have me in pain because my stomach is churning. Before surgery I would sometimes not have…

What does everyone drink? Most of the sugar free stuff taste absolutely horrible. I hate that fake sugar taste I get from the low sugar varieties. What has everyone found that's not completely void of flavor? I know that taste buds are different but it has to be some stuff out there I'm not aware of.

Hi all! I’m in a bit of a panic, I’m 5 weeks post op, my starting weight was 274lbs. My op weight was 268lbs. At 3weeks post op my weight was 236lbs and somehow my weight since I started purées then eventually solids has been on a steady incline(I’m now at 250lbs?) . It’s really disheartening. I’m honestly not sure if I’m not eating properly or whether something else might be wrong. I did have my TOM mid week 4 so I thought it might be hormonal and that I’m retaining water but nothing seems to be changing. I drink 2.5l of water a day . I eat less than 700cal a day. I get 70g of protein in , 15g of carbs and about 10g of fat in total a day. Do I have my quantities wrong…

yeah who knew that losing TOO MUCH would ever be a concern but I'm coming up on my three-month anniversary of gastric sleeve. Have had no problems really at all ... Started at 280 with the two week pre-op diet and weighed 218 this morning. Never really stalled at all and am starting to wonder what's going to happen when I reach my weight target (190). I eat four meals a day but only 200-300 calories per meal so averaging around a 1000 cal/day. I swim 2-3 times a week and do yoga 2-3 times a week and I make sure I hit my protein goals every day. And am never really hungry. In fact my afternoon meals often leave me feeling like I ate too much. When I reach my go…

Hello. I’ve noticed I’m getting into a habit of grazing, especially if my stomach doesn’t cooperate during meal time. I’ll find myself taking a few bites of my food an hour later... a few more bites an hour later... and so on. So then I’m not really hungry at meal times. I feel like this isn’t how I should be eating, but I’m not really sure. What has everyone else experienced? I’m 4 weeks post op.

I am six months post op and am very happy to have lost 70 lbs, however, I am not able to eat most foods that I should be eating at this time. I should be eating lean meats and veggies but can't. I understand that my portions are going to be tiny but I continue to try to eat meats and it usually comes back up after two small bites. I got my gal bladder removed after getting x-rays, ultra sounds and an endoscopy which all showed everything was fine. They only found a few gal stones. Still nothing has changed. I went back to my doc today and he said I should be careful what I wished for bc I have had such great weight loss and that is why I got the surgery. He said it takes …

Has anyone tried or incorporated any of the clear protein drinks into their diet? I'm wondering if these are a good option during the post-op liquid phase since they are whey protein, stevia and water. The one I have is Isopure Infusions . It mixes to clear and looks like crystal light but has 20 grams of protein. The ingredients are: 1)Whey protein isolate 2)"natural flavor" 3)citric acid 4)stevia extract 5)turmeric extract (color)

I had RNY gastric bypass in august 2020. It’s true what they say, that wls is just a tool and you’re still going to have to work hard to get to your goals! But I’m super surprised that my hunger levels don’t seem to have changed very much. I feel hungry every couple hours, when I was hoping to be one of those people who didn’t think about food very often. My weight loss has slowed because of this, so I’m wondering if anyone else experienced this and has any tips. Thanks!

So I’m a week post -op and on the purée stage. I find that I’m a lot more hungry on this stage more than anything else. While I was on liquid , I didn’t feel the need to eat. Now that I can, it’s seems like yes I do get the restriction but I still feel hungry. I rather be on real food stage at this point where I can eat a more balanced meal to fill me up. Anyone else experienced this ?

I am 5 weeks PO and having “hunger” feelings in my mouth which I believe are bc of stomach acid. Does anyone else have these- and what did you take? I’m confused if I should be taking Pepcid or Prilosec? I know they have different main ingredients!

Hi guys!, I had my gastric sleeve surgery on April 1st, and it's been tough. My surgeon gave me the okay to move on to pureed food today. I know you are not allowed to have much sugar, and to try to have little to no consumption of sugar. I made a mistake, and bought a lot of baby food based on fruits such as apple, strawberry, peach, banana, pear, apricot. I didn't check the nutrition facts, and realize it does have sugar added. Just to double check, Am I not allowed to eat anything with sugar? and what did you guys eat for the pureed stage? what can I eat? I really can't stomach the pureed meat, and I am now looking on what I should buy. Advice needed thank you!

I am almost 6 month post op and have minimal sagging skin so far, which is amazing, but I have lost a lot of muscle mass and my famously bubbly butt is now saggy on the bottom. No matter what’s underwear I choose, I get a four-butt. Anyone who has had Four-boob would understand — LOL. I have a second butt at the top of my thighs that pours out of my underwear haha. It is not all skin, it is just not held up by muscle anymore and is falling. It is not like “white girl butt”, because it still has *some* volume to it (my butt is not flat). Anyone else? Any ideas how to minimize this?

I’ve been having some pretty intense pain in my upper abdomen that radiates to my upper back. I’ve been incredibly nauseous and burpy. I haven’t eaten anything today and barely ate anything today. My surgeon put me on an even stronger antacid and scheduled me to have an h pylori test. He thinks I have gastritis. I did some google searching and have almost all the symptoms of gastritis. Has anyone here had it before? What were your symptoms like? What did you do to feel better?

First time posting...here is goes... I had my surgery 3-4 weeks ago. It was a rough start at first. I couldn’t get enough protein or liquid, so I was always weak. A week ago I transitioned to the purée phase. Since starting the phase, I have had so much more energy. My diet is now mostly shakes and deli meat. Unfortunately, I’ve gained a few pounds since I’m no longer on the liquid phase. For some reason now, I’m ALWAYS STARVING. I can only eat a few bites and I get full very fast. I could drink a shake or eat a few slices of meat and in 30 min I’m hungry. Any advice or has anyone else experienced this?

Hi all. Yesterday I was feeling a bit nauseous and having a little abdominal pain. I didn't eat much because I was feeling gaggy and having some abdominal pain when eating. I was even struggling with my liquids. The abdominal pain I've been feeling is like a sharp pain that is in like my upper abdominal area and between my breasts and sometimes radiates to my back between my shoulder blades. It even woke me up a couple times last night. The pain doesn't last any longer than 30 seconds but can be pretty intense. Also, I do not have my gallbladder. I have contacted my clinic and am waiting for them to call me back, but I just wanted to hear your thoughts while I am waiting.

Hi! I am new to the forum- a 30 y/o female that had surgery one month ago. I’ve been starving the whole time even though I’ve been on soft solids for two weeks. im eating 1000 calories a day....I just ate a whole protein bar without feeling full!!! It’s freaking me out. A lot of people say they can barely eat two bites of anything at this stage. Did anyone else eat this much early on? My nutritionist said try to stick to 800 calories.....I just thought it would be easier! Is it normal to be this hungry and able to eat larger amounts 1 month PO??

Hi guys! So I'm sleever and I was surprised to see that there seems to be more then one diet plan. One of them is a 5 weeks plan, and the other progresses slower like 2 months or smth. I wonder, where this difference comes from? Does it depends on patient, clinic/hospital or maybe country? I'm European, Polish in fact, and I got 5 weeks plan. So where are you guys from and how do you eat?

Hi, I'm sure this has been asked already but I am now 9 days post op and 3 days ago I started running a low temp 99 to 100 out of nowhere in the middle of the afternoon. I feel fine and haven't had any issues but am worried bc it has happened every day since from early afternoon to evening. The highest has been 100.2 and if I take tylenol it goes away. My surgeon said if it goes between 101 and 101.5 to go to an urgent care for bloodwork and CT but if no other sypmtoms then he thinks it isn't something to be too worried about. I have my post op follow up in 4 days and am hoping it goes away by then. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Thanks
