Feeling down

I’ve been on my puréed stage for a week and a half now and I’m feeling really discouraged. I am constantly hungry. I had 2 tbsp of cream of wheat for Breakfast made with 1/2 c Fairlife skim milk.... was hungry about an hour later. So, I had a smoothie I made (1 c. Fairlife, 1/2 container greek yogurt, 2 tbsp blueberries, 2 tbsp raspberries, 1/4 banana, 1 scoop genepro). 11 am rolled around... I was hungry again! I waited until lunch(12:00 for me) and had 1/4 c ham salad and 3 tbsp cottage cheese. At 3 pm I was hungry again! I am so stinking frustrated. Am I doing something wrong? What is going on? I feel like I'm overeating and ruining my new stomach!

I had the same surgery date as you and from everything I have been reading, the hunger you (me, too!) have is absolutely normal. That's what my surgeon and nutritionist have assured me as well. Pureed foods and liquids are fairly low on the satiety level. And unless you are actually drinking a VAT of protein shakes, cottage cheese, etc. (which I know you aren't) I don't see how you could POSSIBLY be ruining your new stomach!!

30.6 pound sounds freakin PHENOMENAL to me (I am only down about 15 ?), so you should keep doing what you're doing, IMO! I HAVE to keep thinking that there is a light at the end of the tunnel in regards to the hunger we are having once we move into the stage!

Sounds like you are doing wonderfully, I am wishing continued success to you!

Thank you so much @ruthpets!! It’s just reassuring to hear what other people’s experiences are like. The 30 lbs I’ve lost also includes my pre surgery loss, I’ve lost about 15 since surgery.

The pureed diet was the hardest for me. I was hungry 24/7 and would even dream about food. I felt like I was going insane. What helped me is still following my diet, talking to my family about the struggles, and keeping myself busy. Just keep reminding yourself this struggle is not forever and focus on the end result.
