HW: 312 SW: 300 Weight Day before Surgery: 289 GW: 150 I had Gastric Sleeve back in 2014 then got pregnant almost a year later and just did the Traditional Duodenal Switch 4 days ago. Day 2 was a little scary after eating 2 pieces of Jell-O and half of a Sugar free Popsicle I ended up throwing up 6 times but in very small portions and some blood came out as well. Did some testing after and it wasn't anything major just has to stop eating and stick to liquids a couple more days before trying anything else from Phase 1. I was supposed to go home yesterday but Dr kept me an extra day to see how I did with Phase 1 continuation and see if my white blood count came back ok caus…

My belly makes so much noise even if I don't eat anything. It is so loud that my hubby heard it in the living room while we were watching a movie, with the volume on the tv up. It is a little bit embarrassing, and weird. If I eat something it is so much worse. It is constantly making noises. I am 6 months post op, and noticed it got worse last month. Now it is crazy. Is this happening to anyone else?

I switched to a new surgeon for my annual follow up appointments. Previously I would skip my multivitamin I normally take at night (it has biotin in it as well) the night before my labs and I am fasting when I go in for labs that morning. The new surgeon (well the nurse I spoke with) said to take my vitamin as normal the night before and I don't need to fast. What does everyone else do?

Hello It’s been 3 weeks since my gastric sleeve. I am on soft foods now. I have eaten a whole egg with some cheese to soften it no problem, I’ve tried having a healthy version of Nutella when I felt dizzy - no problem no dumping. Bread feels uncomfortable and heavy in my stomach. Other than I have no problem with foods and eating. I do feel thirsty sometimes and have the urge to chug ice coldwater , of course I haven’t. Any tips on keeping thirst at bay? How many “sips” can you have at once 3 weeks post op? The only downside is I feel dizzy if I’m squatting or standing up. Even though I have been cleared for exercise and I’m so eager to start to help avoid sagg…

So this might sound like a crazy question. I'm almost 5 mos post RNY. I really try to keep my carbs low. A high day for me is around 50 and those are few and far between. Most days I'm around 20-25. My question is for all of you that are sticking to real low carb are you still eating a lot of veggies? I try to get my carbs from veggies so they're healthy carbs...but they're still carbs. I still mainly just worry about getting all my protein and then fill the rest with other healthy stuff. I try to get in around 800 calories day although some days I still fall short. I will occassionaly eat 1 slice of low carb bread or a wrap (4-5 net carbs each). I honestly don't…

My absolute favorite meat is steak. Filet Mignon to be specific. I waited until now, almost 6 months post op to try to eat it. I could only eat 3 small bites, and it felt like lead in my belly. I was so full, and felt sick afterwards. How long did everyone wait to eat it? Is it too soon? Maybe I should have waited like a yr.?

Hi all, I’m new to this community and this my first post. I have a tentative VSG date of April 12, 2021. Currently awaiting approval from insurance. Here is my problem: I am a single 40 year-old woman who lives alone with her dog. My parents who are in their early 70s and healthy have agreed to come help out 1-2 weeks post surgery. As the surgery date gets closer, my parents, specifically my mother are starting to become less and less supportive. She’s unsure if they will be able to help post-op, she thinks I should wait until summer, she’s worried about post-surgical pain, she thinks I should board the dog so they don’t have to take care of her, etc. I’ve…

Sorry this is kindof long, I’m at a loss and need some advice/encouragement. Hi all, Im a newb! Was just sleeved on 2/10/21 and have had a horrible recovery. I was in the hospital for 4 days and threw up for 72 hours. That was fun /: I’m finally home and I am struggling majorly with getting fluids to go down. It sits under my sternum and eventually ends up behind my molars trying to come back up. I first thought it was my sip size. But I have resorted to a very very small dropper where I’m literally dropping less than 10 mls of liquid down the back of my throat and letting it go down. It took me 3 hours to drink 8 oz today. I was wondering if this has hap…

I have been looking at a lot of before and after pictures on here and they are awesome. One thing that jumps off the page at me is the folks that resumed or started weight training after surgery are just amazing looking! I understand that is not for everyone for various reasons, just an observation. I am half way thru my liquid diet and have my surgery on Tuesday 2/23. The first 2 days on the liquid diet really sucked. Today , day 4 ,has not been so bad. I am thinking that last day before surgey may not be as bad as I anticipated. Honestly at this point I think I can just drink water and eat jello. I have not had any popcycles yet so I may throw those in on tht last day. …

Hi everyone, I am eight days post-op and the liquid stage went very well. Never had nausea or vomiting on full liquids. My doctor cleared me to advance to soft protein so I tried an egg and a small strip of grilled chicken. That was about four hours ago and I feel a mild case of nausea right now. I am somewhat behind on my water intake compared to where I usually am by this time of day, but I’ve had roughly 30 ounces so far. Should this feeling worry me? I kinda wanna go back to only liquids because I know those are safe. I just don’t want to jeopardize my suture line in any way.

I’m post op week 8 and I’m still needing to supplement with protein drinks. I really struggled especially about week 6. I had tried several brands and flavors and types . When I started realizing I wasn’t even getting 20-30g, when I was supposed to be having 60-90g I started to panic. And the doctors had no suggestions except to change flavors or brands. It didn’t really help. I began throwing up the protein because I drank too fast or too much trying to get it down. The smell physically made my stomach hurt just making it. My son gave me a brand called HUELL which was better because it had little flavor or smell. It was the best of all of them but What finally has helped…

I’m scheduled to have my VGS March 19th but I’m reading everyone’s posts about being consistently hungry. I want to do the sleeve so I’m not hungry all the time! I thought the whole point was to not feel so much hunger. Can I drink fiber between meals to not feel so hungry? Does anyone have words of advice for this bc im considered not doing the VGS since I do t want to feel hungry for the next 30+ years!

I'm in the pureed food stage and for lunch I had chicken salad. I had it for dinner yesterday and it was ok. Today, I guess was a lesson to LISTEN to my baby sleeve because it was about 3/4 through my portion that I started to feel full-ish. Since the amount I'm allowed is so tiny, I just didn't relate it to being enough or full. About 15 minutes later I had awful hiccups that wouldn't calm down and then the foamies. Is it still considered the foamies if there was some barf too? The uncomfortable feelings and hiccups stopped immediately after. Then about 10 minutes later my son and I were leaving the grocery store and I got hiccups again and then I felt it coming up again…

I’ve been told that we’re not supposed to drink within 30 minutes before or after a meal after surgery to help prevent accidental overeating and digestion problems. Does soup count as drinking? Like can you have a broth-based soup as a meal or would that cause problems? I know it counts as a liquid for the liquid diet so I assume it’s best to stay away but I’ve never heard anyone mention anything about it afterwards

All, I'm 6 months out and getting so frustrated. After being stuck/bouncing between 180-186 for several months, I finally (and very suddenly) dropped to 174. No idea what I did differently to make that happen. I hit 174 about 3 weeks ago and it lasted a few days, but have since regained a few pounds and am now been bouncing between 176-179. Again, no idea what I'm doing wrong or differently. I've kept to nearly the same diet/same types of foods for months. High protein, low carbs, low sodium, low/zero sugar, lots of water, etc. Any suggestions on how to kickstart the weight loss again? I'm down about 70lbs and about 40lbs from my goal weight, but I'm starting to lose…

Hi! So I've been off for little over a month for VSG surgery and heading back to work next week. I've told a few coworkers that I'm closer with about having surgery but majority doesn't know. Kind of nervous being put on the spot of why I've been gone for so long or why I look thinner. Has anyone else dealt with this?

So, I haven't really told many people about my surgery. A few close friends know, my mom, and my sister. I tell my mom everything so she knows, but out of my few close friends, only one was really supportive--everyone else was a bit hesitant. They all struggle with their weight, including my sister. So I don't like sharing my victories as they all start feeling bad about themselves. But today was huge and I want to share with someone other than my amazing and supportive mom. I laid down today to do sit-ups and I could actually see and feel my ribs starting to show through. I thought it was too good to be true so I videoed myself and lo and behold, I could see them quite p…

Has anyone heard of this? Cool sculpting? I am considering this instead of cosmetic surgery aka tummy tuck, etc. It is a procedure where you just lie there, they put something on your belly, and it freezes the fat. The area treated never grows fat again? Has anyone had this done? If so, what were the results, and how long post op where you?

Has anyone on here tried the bariatric pal protein pancakes? I tried them this morning for the 1st time. I was mixing it up, and said to myself, well I would have to have 2 of these envelopes. Yeah right, I couldn't even finish the 1 pancake it made. I only ate 3/4th of it, and was stuffed.

So I’m like afraid today last night I went to bed with no pain meds so I won’t rely on them but I woke up at 2 am and I had been sleeping on my stomach usually I’m always on my side or my back slightly sitting or inclined. I am afraid that will now cause a leak. I’m been scared of a leak ever since surgery last week.

Good evening! was curious if anyone feels little fat lumps that accompany the weight loss. I press on them pretty hard and can feel the fluid inside the lump give way to the pressure that is applied. I really only press in the ones on the side of my thighs and my buttocks. Some on the stomach but they seem to bruise. I have plans to talk to my doctor about it but in the mean time wanted to check on the forum if anyone has similar experiences. is it lymph fluid? fat sack? just curious what others have learned or do about them. It’s weird ...I know. lol. I’m down 71 pounds and they are becoming more prominent now.

I'm 9 days post op. Has anyone else had trouble at night with random itchy hands and feet? There's no hives and no redness and it only seems more active at night. It's usually around the perimeter but can be inside the fingers and toes too. Cortisone helps eventually but after several minutes.

Ever since my surgery approx. 6 months ago, my feet are so cold that they hurt. Especially my toes. No matter what I do, they won't get warm. I made a doc appt and went last week, she told me I have Reynard's Disease, and that it is common for bariatric patients. Has anyone else heard of this?

Hi all. I had a sleeve five years ago. Lost 110, have kept all but 5-10 pounds off. Surgery was fine and dandy. No issues until July 2020 i have had IBS for as long as I can remember and it got worse this past summer (anxiety issues). So I was taking Imodium a bit more often. I was active as heck this summer riding horses and paddle boarding. Eating fine (yes my stomach has stretched but nothing too crazy). One day after paddle boarding a decent amount, I was having bad gas pain. I suddenly got the worst pain I think I’ve experienced in my life right near one of my incisions. It literally felt like my gut had ripped. I waited a bit before deciding to go to the ER, bu…

I am three weeks post op and I haven't really walked much due to the snow but i walked a bit around my house honestly less then recommended. I am back at work and my feet feel like they weight a ton and the sides of my lower leg hurts like I been exercising. I felt this way the first day I went back to work. Also I am now feeling a tingling feeling on my upper left thigh, like the feeling you get when your foot falls asleep, while I am laying down before I go to sleep. Is this normal? Or the lack of walking caused these issues?

You know I've researched for over a year, spent countless night watching other people's journey, taking class and I still feel as if I fell short. For the first time since my surgery (Jan 22nd) I broke completely down, I knew it was going to be hard but you never realize how truly difficult it is until you go through it. Tomorrow is my birthday and I've been a bit depressed so I got my favorite Indian dish pureed and just couldn't...it made me cry. The struggle of eating and constantly feeling it go to my stomach or swallowing to much air and getting gas, having to count and count and count. Don't forget the protein, don't forget to hydrate, or your vitamins. I want to d…

Hi, I was wondering if anybody else had problems with taking in their vitamins. I am in the second week after my gastric sleeve and every time I try to take my multi vitamins I feel sick in my stomach, weak or vomit. I have Baricol in 4 different forms an none seems to work. Is this normal? Should I continue taking them even if they make me sick until I adapt?

I am very close to my 6 month post op, and am losing so much hair. I actually measure it each time I wash it, which is every 4 days. I get anxiety on hair wash day, because I am so afraid of losing more. It currently measures out to be 4-5 grams of hair loss each time. I used to have beautiful long, thick, curly hair. Now it is short, thin, and not so curly anymore. It has broken off so much of the length, as well as getting thinner. I know I was told that some hair loss was normal, but this is actually scary. Is there anyone else out there who this has happened to, but can tell me that theirs grew back? If so, how long did it take?

Hello, I am almost 6 months post op, and just wondering if everyone is still drinking the same amount of water we were told to in the beginning? I found that if I drank the 8 cups a day, I could not fit in as much protein as required. I am now down to drinking 5-6 cups a day. I do eat foods that contain water, such as watermelon, and cukes.

Hi Everyone, I had the sleeve done at the end of December. I lost about 25lbs those first three weeks. As of today, I have gone three weeks without losing an ounce. I get that my body probably needed a break after that initial weight loss but is this normal to go so long without losing weight, this early? I usually eat between 600-700 calories a day. I'm not super active and find I get dizzy very easily when I exercise. Did anyone else experience this? Any thing I should be doing differently? Thank you in advance.

I'm 5 days post-op and I cannot stop burping! Every time I ingest anything- *burp.* It's most disconcerting! Is this a liquids stage thing or something I'm going to have to deal with forever? This is so distressing! I was raised with very good manners and right now I feel like a 12 year old boy showing off to his friends. Otherwise, the "winds" aren't too bad, I assume that's still trapped air from the surgery making its way out and that it'll pass. Just another "is this normal???" post.

Hey all, I am coming up on 3 weeks post op VSG next Monday. I was allowed to start soft foods such as ground meet/canned chicken, etc. today. After looking through my post op binder, I was wondering if any of you received any sort of calorie limit for when you start more solid foods? The info in my binder mainly talks about protein and fluid daily amounts. I just want to make sure that the foods that I am choosing are not exceeding a certain calorie limit?? Does that make sense? I can give an example of the things that I ate today and calorie/protein total to see what you all think?? Breakfast-small homemade strawberry protein smoothie 165 calories, 37 g protein …
