I am 10 days post up and everything has been great so far! I don't have any pain, and I'm able to go about and do my daily business. Things are going well with my sleeve and I'm doing a good job of getting Water and Protein along with a few small puree meals. Literally the only thing driving me nuts is my scale. I have been textbook following the plan eating less than 500 calories a day, lots of water, 60 g of protein, and I have lost a whopping three maybe four pounds since surgery date. I usually walk a couple of miles every day, just at a leisurely stroll right. I do see my body changing, so I know something is happening. But how on earth can I eat so little for so many days and it doesn't really reflect on the scale? That's annoying. Thanks for listening to me rant. Lol

a lot of us "gain" weight while in the hospital from all the IV fluids - some people "gain" as much as 10 lbs while there (I say "gain" because it's just Water, not real weight). It takes a few days for it to work its way out of your system. So for many of us, there's not a huge loss that week or so. Since you're following your plan to a "T", you'll definitely lose weight. Just keep doing that and weigh less frequently if daily weighing is playing with your head too much.

Hi Maribelle76,

I have read a few stories like yours on this forum and so it seems not uncommon for people to put on weight or hold Fluid after surgery.
I personally lost weight quite slowly in between weeks 2 and 6 post op and then it seemed to really kick in more after that. Everyone is different and will react differently but if you are following everything to plan then it will happen, just give yourself time to heal and for your body to catch up.

I like to measure myself each month and that way I can see the centimeters drop off and know that something is happening even if the scales may not reflect it as much.

Take care and good luck with it all :)

Hi,

I'm 13 days post op and on day 11 I, too, hated my scale. It wasn't moving, then yesterday I lost 4 pounds and today I lost 5. Just give it a few more days. I will say, 500 calories sounds a bit low as far as my plan goes, but we all have different plans.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
