    March 14th Surgery date

Best of luck to you! I'm so glad I did this! I think you'll feel the same way too!

My husband doesn't want me to have surgery

While I believe that you do indeed need to have a heart-to-heart with your husband and explain exactly how your feeling and lay out all of the emotions and reasons behind your decision to do what you want to your body... I disagree that you need to spend the rest of your life explaining yourself to him. Additionally, once you've laid your heart out on the table and explained your decision, (IMO) he'll need to make a decision to support you, his wife, or to not support you. While I appreciate @thegreaterfool giving you the man's point of view, I don't think it took into account what you need from your spouse. You need support from your spouse just as much as your spouse needs you to support him. It's a give and take ... not just a give, give, give. So while yes, he needs to hear and feel your support to quell his worries right now, you're going to need his support too. 50/50 give and take, not just give and give some more. He has to care about your relationship as much as you do to put in his 50%. Best of luck to you and I hope your talk with him goes well and that he's able to understand your choice and decision enough to partner with you on the decision and you can carry each other moving forward. Because this is a huge life decision, you're going to need him, too.

    July 12th DS - open

I had my DS on July 12 but, one of my intestines was being cagey during laparoscopic which forced my surgeon to finish the surgery open. This has caused a three day stay in the hospital and obviously a much much larger scar. I’m stapled from my boobs to my belly button. So it goes. On the flip side, I can stomach anything so far with no nausea. Ice chips, cold water, four different protein shakes, broth, SF Jello and SF popsicles. Just waiting to poop. Otherwise, I’m healing well and on schedule.

    Food Before and After Photos

I'm a hotel concierge, so I make a lot of dining reservations at places I could never afford. So I like to go online to all of the menu's of the places I book and build 'the perfect meal' from them. It's so much fun just dreaming and pretending I'm rich and can eat anything I desire. For me, it's a fun game and doesn't mess with my mind or make me hungry.
  6. I had a complication during surgery and my Dr. had to abandon laparoscopic surgery and cut me open. This meant three nights in the hospital. I only took 10 days off of work and do wish I'd taken a few more.

    Constant Nausea 8 weeks post-op!?!

Omeprazole was the cause of my early nausea. Does this happen when you take the Omeprazole prior to a meal?

    July 2021 Surgery People!

I started out far, far heavier than most. My 12 week mark is tomorrow and today I'm at 58 pounds lost since surgery and 79 pounds lost since prep diet in June. And still, there are people out there losing faster than me and I get all upset that I'm not losing as fast as some. It really can mess with your head. I'm slowly coming to grips with not being fast "enough" for my start weight. But comparing ourselves is a big problem in my opinion.
  9. What are your stats? The last thing I’d do is a fasting coach, personally.

    6 month post Op update

How amazing your progress is! Congratulations! My curious questions are, how long does it take you to walk the five miles? Are you doing it out in the real world or on a treadmill?

    Pumpkin Pie Protein Shake

This is wonderful, I must try it. I tried the new Premiere Protein Pumpkin Spice shake today and it didn't taste like pumpkin or pumpkin spice at all.
  15. It was immediate for me, the bone broth I loved and couldn't get enough of pre-op suddenly tasted like liquid pennies to me. In general, I'm not as huge of a fan of salt as I used to be and I've found myself craving spicy as opposed to salty.

    Carbonation?

I asked my surgeon to explain to me in a way that would make me understand .. as to WHY I couldn't have sparkling water. Not diet soda or regular soda, just plain water in my soda stream. He smiled sheepishly and told me he didn't have an explanation. So now about once a week I'll have some sparkling water and I sip it slowly and love it. I personally can handle it.

    Awful smelling stool and gas

I'm curious if you're eating a lot of sugar alcohols...? Maltitol, Sorbitol, Erythritol ... ETC. Prior to my DS surgery I realized that these sugar substitutes gave me horrendous foul gas. The worst I've ever experienced. So, I'd cut them out way before surgery. These sweeteners are in a lot of protein shakes, protein bars and other food stuffs popular with WLS patients. This would include the very popular Oikos Triple Zero yogurt everyone loves because it's so high in protein, because even chicory root sweetener does it to me. I'm nine weeks post op and I'm not free of gas by any means, but I don't consider the gas or stool I have to be any different than it was pre-op. This is with the exception of the first day I tried romaine lettuce. I was a toxic mess of gas that day.

    Others noticing weight loss

First of all, congratulations on your success! Way to go! Personally, I'm at 62 pounds lost, which is the equivalent of losing a full grown Husky Dog off of my body... and not a single soul has said a thing. I figure the loss will have to be more significant for someone of my size before people notice. While it's 50% a bummer, the other 50% of me is glad not to have to explain.

My high weight was 414 and my surgery weight was 393.

    Please Help, Advice Needed!

I had my surgery three days before you and I just got out of my infamous three week stall a few days ago. And in three days I dropped almost six pounds. I was expecting the stall, but it still SUCKED. Don't second guess yourself, you're probably doing AMAZINGLY. It will break soon and you'll be back to losing.
  21. Great work, you look so healthy and wonderful! Congratulations!!
  22. It took me 4 days to realize, but every time I took my prescription Prilosec I got so nauseated I could cry. Once I stopped the Prilosec, I've not been nauseated again. I think it was a me thing, so not saying you're issue is the same. Just a small possibility in case it helps.

    Tests before surgery

I had to do bloodwork, an EKG, a chest xray and a Covid test prior to my surgery. And then once I checked into the hospital, I had to take yet another Covid test. No stool sample for me, thank goodness.

    I hate the scale

Hi, I'm 13 days post op and on day 11 I, too, hated my scale. It wasn't moving, then yesterday I lost 4 pounds and today I lost 5. Just give it a few more days. I will say, 500 calories sounds a bit low as far as my plan goes, but we all have different plans.
