Going out of town during puréed stage- HELP!

Recommended Posts

Hi! I’m flying to Las Vegas in a couple weeks, I will just be 4 weeks post op after gastric sleeve. Going for my nephews graduation. I’m a bit nervous as I’ll be on puréed stage... in Vegas. 😬 any tips/tricks? I am overwhelmed and trying to figure out what I’ll eat, what I can pack, buy while I’m there or order. Anyone else travel during this stage? I’ll be just about 4 days shy of moving to the soft foods stage by then and even wonder if it’s safe to transition a bit early..(of course I will ask my surgeon ). Any advice is welcomed!

1st question: Does your family know you had surgery? If so, travelling really isn't as bad as you think it's going ot be because you always have the "i'm still healing" excuse. (YAY!). Breakfast - scrambled egg or Protein Shake. lunch and dinner if you're going out, a creamy Soup is usually available. Maybe egg salad too?

If it's a secret, you can always use the "I'm just not feeling well" excuse. I started travelling for work during the puree stage and I took canned Soups that I could put in the microwave (scrambled egg will work in micro also).

Always keep a drink in your hand - That helped me a lot when I was working and there was snack food available.

I also ate a lot of refried Beans at this stage...so if you have a microwave available, bring a couple of cans. If you go out, at a Mexican restaurant, you can order those. Also, obviously check with your surgeon, but my Nutritionist said that any food can be pureed if you chew it long enough!

Thank you guys! And no , most of them do not know. As far as scrambled eggs go, my paperwork says everything needs to be blended. I start puréed today. So a scrambled egg needs to go in blender?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
