I smell funny?

So ever since I started on the high Protein diet pre-op, my boyfriend has been telling me that I have a bad odor... He says it has gotten worse the past 2+ weeks post-op where I have only had protein and fluids... He says he can smell it everywhere we go, though it is worse in small areas (car, in bed, etc.)... My hygiene has not changed at all (I shower daily); he seems to think it's the protein seeping out my pores emitting the bad smell...

Has anyone else experienced this??

It's a little embarrassing, but if there are any suggestions as to how to stop it they will be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks!

Meg

I smelled like a jar of filthy dirty pennies. No matter how many times a day I brushed my teeth, my breath reeked. In the morning, our bedroom had to be aired out from my all night exhalations. So

  • I guess I'm used to the smell. My ex-husband is a body builder and ALWAYS smelled like broccoli, egg whites and chicken breast! Probably one of the reasons he's my EX lol

  • I haven't had the complaints about the body odor but have noticed my pee smells a lot like the protein drinks.

I was wondering about this dragon breath I've had for the past few days (I'm on day 4 of the pre-op diet). So far I haven't smelled anything on my body, but sometimes you can't smell yourself with any accuracy.

From what I read ketosis causes bad breath also. Unfortunately!!!

I'll take it!!!! :-)

I'm down about 3 pounds since I started my pre-op.

Listerine and Colgate are my friends!

Right

Right!! I'm with ya. It wont last for ever!! :)

Lmao. You guys are hilarious. The icky breath sucks, but I keep it under control with lister one breath strips.

I'll say it again- I am so relieved it's not just me! If (temporarily) smelling bad is the price for losing weight, I'll take it!!!

Shoot. I have noticed a new and unpleasant odor in my bedroom in the morning. I was secretly blaming it on my husband. Now I am concerned it is from me! Does anyone else remember the funky smell lasting until ~3 months post surgery.

BTW, I have also noticed the stinky pee. I was blaming it on my Vitamins. I don't believe I am in ketosis. I remember what that was like from my previous efforts at following the Atkins Diet.

I'm 10 weeks post op and having the same problem. At first I thought I had super enhanced smelling abilities after the surgery, but noooooooo. I'm just stankin' more than usual. It has made me super self conscious, eventhough I brush my teeth and shower multiple times a day. I keep waiting for it to go away, but not sure how long this lasts.

On top of me smelling bad, I think I have "super enhanced smelling abilities" too! I smell everything so much more now post-op! Like, the pet store, ewwwwwe!

I am so sorry you are going through this but, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I've become so standoffish that I suspect some will accuse me of "changing" after the surgey. When the truth of the matter is, I don't want to offend anyone with this b.o.

Oh just read online about something called Nullo. It's some sort of tablet/ internal deodorizer(?). I'm giving this product the side eye until I can do some research on it, but wanted to pass the info along

Repeat post. Sorry guys
