  1. Hi All! I'm new to the group and pre-op. I'm tattooed and pierce. I'm to meet with my doctor to get my surgery date next week. However I've been wondering if any of you all had to remove any piercings prior to surgery? My nipples are pierced and I've never taken them out for fear that I couldn't get them back in. Other than germ issues, I don't see how they could pose any threat procedure-wise if they are sterilized. However I thought I'd pose this question to the group. Jennifer

You look great! Two thumbs up!
  3. I knoooowww lol. It's the only reason I replied. You've been so supportive of me and I didn't want you to think that you were alone with your pre-op food funerals.
  4. You know I chowed down prior to my preop diet! My brain really thought I'd NEVER be able to eat again. I look back and think how silly that thought was, but at the time it was REAL. You are not alone :-)

Thanks so much for the recommendation. Adding Weights to my workout is at the top of my 2014 list- right under joining a co-ed kickball team in my area! This book will be my gift to ME!!

    August sleevers progress

Hey August folks! I haven't been posting much because I can't get with this new format and wading through RnY-village or Lapband-ville. I'm a low and slow loser but glad to be losing all the same. Preop 259 Sw 248 CW 208

Starting to feel like a freak?

I think it's just a matter of people being accustomed of you looking a certain way. I get amazed stares whenever I would wear a 'fro instead of weave. Now multiply that by twenty when you lose weight. Just like it is taking my head/thinking a while to catch up with the changes in my body, the same goes for the thought process of other folk. Hate that you are feeling like a sideshow, but they are adjusting to the new you.
  11. Time to deck the halls with my holiday decorations and Christmas tree

I'm so glad to see someone who waited until after T'giving to decorate for Christmas :)

  12. Butter I felt the same way this Thanksgiving, seeing those plates piled to the heavens was really making me queasy. But I didn't want to be that girl either.
  13. Everyone's food choices are soooo exotic! Makes my quiche Lorraine (with turkey bacon) that I'm making today sound downright boring!

    This New Site

What a great suggestion- we need some kind of filtering option over here Alex!
  15. Luckily I am a "slow" loser so I didn't suddenly Drop a ton of weight. I told my coworkers I have a nutritionist and a personal trainer. Since ive always worked out, very few have asked anyway

What Did You Wear To And From The Hospital?

I wore this. Didn't require me to bend to put it on and was loose over the abdominal area.

    Rumbling tummy

I am three month out and my stomach is still trying to communicate with the world. Oddly enough, I don't notice it when home alone but Soooooo embarrassing in my weekly bible study. It is the "unofficial" thirteenth member.

Me And 6 Months Later Me.

So nice to have a face to go with all of those witty comments! You look GREAT and so much younger! Did you lose any hair because I'm having a serious case of hair envy right now.

How Soon Did They Make You Walk In The Hospital?

I was up and walking later that same day. My surgery was at 7 in the morning and I was walki g by 8 pm. My doctor used a catheter as well but luckily I was unconscious when they put it in. Good luck to you!

    August 2013 Roll Call

You look great! I'm really hating this new format though and having a helluva time finding the threads for August 2013 sleevers! Am I the only one?
  21. I'm seven weeks post op and I have a looong way to go, but your pictures are an inspiration to me. i took some pictures this weekend and compared them to what I looked like only few weeks before my surgery (8/19/13). Can't believe the difference already and can't wait to see what I look like by new year's. Also flew this weekend and it was the first time in YEARS that I fit in the seat without making the armrest pop up or having to practically jam myself against the window side so that I wouldn't "ooze" over to the adjoining seat! Flying has been a huge source of anxiety for me-so grateful for my sleeve!

    I smell funny?

    Repeat post. Sorry guys

    I smell funny?

Oh just read online about something called Nullo. It's some sort of tablet/ internal deodorizer(?). I'm giving this product the side eye until I can do some research on it, but wanted to pass the info along

    I smell funny?

I am so sorry you are going through this but, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I've become so standoffish that I suspect some will accuse me of "changing" after the surgey. When the truth of the matter is, I don't want to offend anyone with this b.o.

What's the story behind your profile name?

I had a boyfriend who remained friends with one of his ex's. we were at the "meet the friends" stage and she made it obvious that she had no desire to meet me. Barely said 3 words. Later found out that the "pet" name she and her fiends had for me was-- you guessed it--Godzilla. Presumably, because I was large and ugly (merely a guess since they have said anything to me). So my name is a reminder that people may judge us, but their opinions never define who we are as people. At the end of the day, I can lose weight. however, there is no surgery to cure geriatric mean girls of their narrow minded bishy ways. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
