I go see my doctor tomorrow for an official weigh in. Before he did my endoscopy he was telling me to get all my blood work done because there were possibly medications that were out there to help me with weight loss. I have not been successful with pre-op weight loss. Even though I've been drinking 2 shakes a day and eating lean meat and some vegetables for the past 3 weeks. I have actually gained weight. Hello All! I am the oldest of 4 girls and the only one that is obese, with my later onset of pcos and being undiagnosed I really piled the pounds on quickly! He keeps pushing me away and keeps accusing me of going to leave him after I get my surgery and become skinny. My paperwork was submitted a few days ago. Now just wait, and wait and wait some more. This seems unreal, I started the process months ago and now I'm so close. I remember when I first got the check list of requirements my insurance requested it seemed sooooo long. I was overwhelmed and now it seem sureal. I had my hopes up on doing the gastric sleeve. but my insurance requires me to have a bmi of 40 and I'm 39. you can have a bmi of 35 with two comorbilities. I found out recently that last time I did blood work, I had extremely high cholesterol.I was also pre diabetic . I was never informed with this. I found out through my dietician. the dietician said I should be on pills with how high my cholesterol was. My question is....does my PCM decide if I get to continue the process of getting GBP? Is my PCM the person who will have me do the 3-6 month supervised program? Just curious. I'm on the pre-op liquid diet of three shakes a day and while it's not fun, I've been sticking to the program and I've dropped about 10 pounds since Sunday. So I had my last appointment with the surgeon today and he said that I had a few gall stones that were about two centimeters and suggested that we remove my gallbladder during the procedure is this really necessary? are there any benefits to removing it?

I saw my surgeon last month, my prim dr agrees to the bypass surgery due to my type 2 dietbies, went to the sic that went well, went to the nutritionest and that went well now I have to go for blood work tomorrow. I hope that is all I need to do before they send it in for approval for surgery. I have to go back next month to the surgeon. I hope it don't take to long. I was diagnosed with gastroparesis a few years ago and am considering getting the lap band and I'm wanting to talk to someone else that had gastroparesis before getting the lap band and find out if they had any problems or complications because of it. And I also have severe acid reflux. I feel like it would help my gastroparesis but have been reading some things that are making me think otherwise now. For those of you who had surgery in Mexico, did you take someone with you for help/support or did you go alone?

I am at the very beginning of my journey, (my first class is on 8/17), but I have known for several years that I am Vitamin D deficient. What dosage of OTC Vitamins would you recommend to start taking now so I get those levels up before surgery? Also, does anyone have any recommendations for the best way to take the Vitamin D supplement? I have heard some contradictory things like taking it at night vs. taking it in the morning, or vice versa. Taking it with/without food, and so on.

I am so concerned that my skin will be flabby and floppy. I don't want to look older. I chose the sleeve so I wouldn't lose the weight too fast. Hi everyone! I just found this app and I'm so thankful! I have been approved for the sleeve, and surgery is scheduled for September 19. I had to go through the 6-month physician supervised weight loss before my insurance would approve me. I lost a little, but since I am hovering at a 40 BMI it was a little like playing Russian roulette with the scale. If I dropped below 40 I ran the risk of a denial. Hi all- my process that I must go through for surgery includes an endoscopy. I had one less than 2 years ago and the coordinator at my doctors said that it suffices. However, I have heard that for this specifically, they do an HPiLori (sorry if it's not the correct spelling) and I am concerned that it wasn't done for my endoscopy that I had. Does anyone know if this is a regular thing that they do during endoscopies? Lol may be a stretch but I am hoping someone knows the answer. So my company's policy only has 2 requirements for obesity surgery: 1. Minimum of 40bmi for 5 years & 2. Be a minimum of 21 years old I had lapband surgery in 2008 and lost 60 lbs before it eroded in 2011. I had to have it removed and by 2013 was back up to my pre-op weight of 255. At the time I was with another employer and weight loss surgery was an exclusion so no revision surgery for me. For any of you helpful people that have already had surgery - how many of you (if any) ended up with a JP drain? I had one after laparoscopic cholecystectomy and I hated it! I called it my "gore grenade" and I felt miserable going out in public with it and had to safety pin it to the shower curtain! Such a hassle.. I just want to be prepared for it again if necessary. I was reading through my information today and saw that my dr only requires liquid diet the two days before, and just to continue the high Protein low carb up until surgery. So around the july 25th?ish I made a point to talk to my boss and give her a heads up since I had just met with my surgeon. Being I work in a hospital on a very busy floor I have been wanting to give as much notice as possible so we can find a stand in for my shifts. Well tomorrow is my surgery. I'm excited and scared all at the same time. I've read so much on what to expect but I'm still nervous because I have no idea how I will be. On the plus side, my doctor wanted me to lose 40lbs before surgery and I'm officially down 40lbs as of today! With the just clear liquid diet today, I should be down even more tomorrow. Hello I am considering doing the VSG procedure but I'm really nervous about the recovery time. I am in a competitive and rigorous doctoral program for physical therapy and I don't have the ability or leisure of taking any time off. I am going to have a break next year for a month and a half (the only break I have until I graduate in 2 years...). Is this enough recovery time? I need to be SOMEWHAT physical when I return to school in September (nothing really crazy, but I need to be able to life light loads and bend)... Im wondering if your are self paying what are the benefits to having surgery states side. I'm assuming you get post-op care for x amount of months. If you do the surgery in Mexico is post-op all on you, examples figuring out diet, local support groups. I know I'll need the emotional support and chatting with others about their experience to be successful and stay motivated. So I wondering if I should pay the extra money for local support. My Gastric Bypass Surgery has been approved for 9/19/16. I am excited, but at the same time I feel like I'm falling into a depression. Ever since my mother passed away, I've been battling with food addiction. The thought of giving up my "best friend" (food) seems to be overwhelming me.
