So my surgery is scheduled for 9/19 and after joining a couple groups on Facebook and reading about several people's complications, I'm having second thoughts. Do I really want to risk possibly having more health issues then I have now? I hate this back and forth, it is absolute torture. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My Gastric Bypass Surgery has been approved for 9/19/16. I am excited, but at the same time I feel like I'm falling into a depression. Ever since my mother passed away, I've been battling with food addiction. The thought of giving up my "best friend" (food) seems to be overwhelming me. I'm diagnosed with depression and anxiety and my way of coping with it is eating. The very thought of giving up food makes me want to eat it more. I'm terrified of what life will look like not having food to depend on. I was doing fine with everything and then all of it hit me like a ton of bricks. I'm getting a lot of anxiety about surgery/post surgery and I'm very overwhelmed. Has anyone experienced this before? How are you getting through it? Any suggestions?

So I started my bariatric surgery journey on 2/12/16 and 7/22/16 will be my 6th and final appointment before everything gets sent to insurance for approval. I'm scared, because I'm second guessing everything and everyone seems to have an opinion. I've struggled with weight most of my life and to be honest I'm sick of struggling with it. It's very difficult to lose weight due to my hypothyroidism. I just feel so overwhelmed with all the doctors appointments, clearances, etc. I feel like maybe if I just ate the right food or exercised enough I wouldn't need this surgery. I keep asking myself, am I make the right decision? Will I just have this surgery and then fall back into old habits? Will I regain all of my weight after a period of time? I also feel like my work is getting frustrated due to all the time I'm using towards appointments. I feel like people are judging me or think I am taking the easy way out. The truth is that I wish this was the easy way out, but it's been anything but easy. I'm just really confused and scared. Any advice??? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
