This process has taken me about a year and have had my surgery scheduled for about a month. Got the verbal approval today over the phone. Only a couple people know so no one to share the good news with. So excited! Surgery scheduled for Friday September 2nd ☺ Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using the BariatricPal App

Hello, I am just starting. I have Cigna and 3 months on a medically monitored diet. Question: Who are you doing your 90 day diets through, your PCP or a Nutritionist? I started my 90 day diet last week. And the PA at my Dr office gave me 2 sheets of paper. One said 'Diabetes Diet' and the 2nd one said 'Cholesterol Diet'. It is a list of things to avoid on each sheet. I find this useless. And I am thinking maybe I should scrape up the extra $70 for the dietician instead. I feel he's setting me up for failure. I was so excited for this. Now that i've gotten so close to surgery date (Thursday Aug 4), i'm getting really nervous. I have no idea what the hell triggered this nervousness. And I feel like it has nothing to do with food. Its a big surgery and i've never had a big surgery like this. Anyone else feel like this? How did you get over it? Any methods to get over it?

Ok guys, this is going to be long but I need some imput..hopefully you guys can help. First off, so far I regret having this surgery. I'm just in so much discomfort. Here are my questions. I really have to wait every two hours to sip on Water? So far, I have been alternating between chicken broth, water, sugar free water ice, and sugar free Jello. At this point, I'm not even worried about food I'm just so thirsty. The "bible" they gave me at the surgeons says to sip on water all day but I could've sworn my surgeon said to have Clear liquids every two hours (I had just had pain meds so I could be wrong, lol-ouch) I also can't sleep through the whole night tossing and turni…

Well I waited till the 28th to start my diet cause the 26th was my birthday and I wanted to be able to have my cake. So today is day 5 of my low carb diet. No soda no sugar no Pasta no potatoes no corn or other high carb veggie rarely any fruit. I won't lie I've cheated a bit, one day I ate 3 small pieces of fries or two days ago I drank a diet Pepsi. But all in all I've kept my days under 40g of carbs a day. And it has been easy I feel sick and yucky and kinda pukie at times. I am going to have my surgery tomorrow and I was required to come off certain medications two weeks, and one week ago. My HRT was two weeks ago and I am not sleeping well, I am mopey, and my anxiety is through the roof. I can't say the pre-op diet helped any! ( OOOHH why can't I have some fricken chocolate!!! ) Hubby says I look depressed and dazed most of the time. I'm hoping I can go back on my HRT pdq after surgery. Have any of you ladies been on/off HRT? How did it go after surgery? Anyone have to go back on HRT?

My sleeve date is September 15th, so to make recovery easier I unfortunately attempted to quit caffeine cold turkey. I normally have about 2 cups coffee in the AM and maybe 1 diet coke during the day, so not a huge amount. Once I hit the 24 hour mark I basically got the flu. 7 hours of feverish vomiting and pounding headaches ensued. I asked my husband to kill me please, luckily he didn't. I finally threw in the towel and drank a soda last night. STEP DOWN....please don't make the same mistake I did! Sent from my SM-T550 using the BariatricPal App

Hi Everyone, I can honestly say I did not get to my current weight by eating large quantities of food. I got this way because I eat the WRONG foods! Even though I love vegetables and I do eat them, I eat WEIGH (ok, way, just a play on words), too many sweets! I truly believe I have an addiction. Just the thought of sweets make my mouth Water, and my mind stays focused on them until they are consumed. I can eat sweets until I physically feel ill. So, my question..... What have you all done to break your addiction to sweets? I meet with the dietitian next week, for my first consult. I want that to be my starting point of bidding adieu to candy, Cookies, ice cream…

It is finally almost here. Tomorrow is my surgery. This time tomorrow night I will be on the losers bench. Whooohoooo!!! My main concern is feeling nauseated after surgery and struggling to get fluids in. That and then not letting me have fluids or even ice chip the first day/night after. I am bring biotene spray and chap stick so hopefully that will help. My goal is to get ASAP after surgery. Pain or no pain I am fighting through it. I have had 3 c-sections, back surgery and a hysterectomy so I am familiar with general anesthesia and surgical pain. I really would like to only spend one night in the hospital. We'll see. So...here I go!!!

Hi all, I'm two days preop for the sleev and have been noticing an extreme loss of appetite. Is this common? Obviously a good thing, just wondering if anyone else out there experienced it. On another note, my surgeon doesn't require a preop diet like others do. I've been eating some, but nothing close to what i normally do.

  40. I am being treated for major depression and it is mostly under control with my medication but I am worried that psych won't approve me because there is the chance that the surgery will bring on a depressive episode. Any advice on how I handle this line of questioning? I'm really good at managing my depression, I know when it is within acceptable limits and I can identify when it's not and when I need help. I have been in therapy for years for it. So any advice?

So, I have bipolar and because of that the counselor at the surgeon's office and the surgeon require that my regular therapist and psychiatrist both fill out a paper stating that they believe I’m stable, understand fully what I’m getting into, have a support system, etc. I took the papers in to my therapist appointment today and she said she’s not allowed to sign anything. She sent an email to her supervisor who said she doesn’t think they fill those out at all. OMG! The surgeon said he can’t do surgery until he knows I’m stable and they sign off on it. My therapist said she’ll continue to push on getting it filled out and she believes I’m perfectly fine for surgery, but …
