A new study was recently released on the hot topic of vitamin patches. Transdermal Multivitamin Patch Effective in Gastric Bypass Patients? Conclusion: Multivitamin patch users are more likely to have vitamin D deficiency and lower serum concentration of various vitamins and minerals. Future large studies are needed on the efficacy of multivitamin patches before they can be recommended to bariatric patient population. You can view the details on this study here. What are your thoughts on this topic? Should the BariatricPal Store stop carrying vitamin patches or should we inform consumers about the study and let them make their own educated decisio…

My husband tried some of his coworker's and really liked it. Thought I might want to get some. Has anyone tried this brand? Is it good for bariatrics? I think it has to be purchased directly from their website.

I asked my Weightloss Center and they only support vitamins that are sold by the WLC. It's a horrible place to go and I do not recommend them to anyone. Anyway, I bought Bariatric Fusion Tropical Fruit Bariatric Multivitamin Soft Chews for Post Bariatric Surgery Patients Including Gastric Bypass and Sleeve Gastrectomy, 60 Count, 1 Month Supply and I asked my WLC dietician and she was upset that I did not want to take the Celebrate MC r18 that they sold. I explained that the chewable they sell makes me sick and I cannot even force myself to eat them without getting ill. She said "fine" then told me that I could take the ones I bought but didn'…

I just purchased some Pure Protein Bars and noticed that they've gone from 20g protein/bar to 33! The calories increased from approx 200 to 280. The bars were 1.76 oz., now 2.75 oz. For me (not a protein fan) this is great! p.s. I'm eating one for breakfast and can't eat it all in one sitting. But that's ok, I can work on it all morning.

I've noticed that most Calcium Citrate supplements come with Vitamin D3 as a part of it. Does this mean that a person taking that doesn't have to take a separate Vitamin D3 pill in addition to the calcium?

So, I currently take a multivite in the morning, then two-ish hours later, I take my 2000 IU Vitamin D and the first calcium chew. I take the remaining two calcium chews two hours apart after that. What's the minimum amount of time you should wait between the vitamins?

Hi, I am wondering if anyone else suspects that the post surgery weight loss vitamins cause diarrhoea? I had diarrhoea so many times right after surgery, but then I ran out of the vitamins and didn’t take them for four weeks and everything was totally fine...until I started the vitamins again yesterday and bam, today I had the runs again (at work out of all places, so humiliating haha). Sorry to be so disgusting, but I need to know if anyone else has this problem? Thank you.

Hi All, So in due diligence, I've been researching protein shakes and drinks. I haven't had surgery yet, but I'm trying to start training myself to drink consistently throughout the day and to start steering away from not eating most days until 2 PM or later. While at Target this weekend, I noticed that they had the Protein 2o in mixed berry and picked some up. They're not half bad actually. They do seem to make my mouth dry when I first take a sip, but I think that's just a matter of getting used to it and I actually enjoy the overall flavor. Back when I had my lapband sx in 2007 pretty much all I had available to me were the milky, overly sweet type of protein sha…

I am new to forums and not very comfortable, so forgive me if I rattle on. It has been 3 weeks since I had my gastric bypass surgery. I have felt great for most of the time but I'm not sure I'm eating enough. I have introduced soft foods into my diet and even had a couple of bites of a meat. I track what I eat using My Fitness Pal and I have my goal set to 800 calories a day. I have my protein set at 35% (70g), Carbs 30% (60g) and Fat at 45% (31g). Can anyone tell me what my grams or percentages should be in a day? I have been having some discomfort the past few days and I'm not sure if it is due to my diet and introduction to foods or tenderness from getting dry h…

I’m about 3 weeks post op and have been trying to find a good multivitamin. I tried a liquid kind but it caused diarrhea almost immediately. I also tried the Bariatric advantage chewable multivitamin but it causes vomiting within a couple minutes of taking it, even when I try just taking half. I’m on to regular foods now and haven’t had a negative reaction to any type of food that I’ve tried so it seems strange that I’m having a reaction to the vitamins. Has anyone else had this happen and what ended up working for you?

I had such a hard time finding protein shakes I could tolerate, they made me feel sick. My nutritionist kept suggesting things that had added iodine (I am allergic) and kept pushing isopure protein because it’s 100% whey protein Isolate. But just the smell alone just made me nauseous. And I couldn’t find a powder that mixed well. I tried several RTD proteins some made me sick, some barely tolerable. I still need protein shakes due to some swallowing issues so I kept looking. I get a lot of my vitamins, protein, and a lot of other things on a site called Vitacost because I get good deals and coupons and I’m on a tight disability budget. I was searching the site for a…

Had anyone been using protein shots? This packs 24g protein in just 60ml. Thought it would be pretty cool for a gastric sleeve patient. These are the ingredients if anyone can help me if I should avoid or give it a try. Water, Hydrolysed Collagen, Acidity Regulators (Malic Acid, Citric Acid, Phosphoric Acid) Flavouring, Preservatives (Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate) Sweeteners (Acesulfame K, Sucralose, Steviol Glycosides) I'm still post op my ops in 5th August

First of all, I had my sleeve done on June 17. ----------------------------------------------------------------- The only time I feel restricted is when I drink a protein beverage (not a shake). I was drinking the Premier Protein clear drinks (purchased from Sams Club but I have seen them in other places) prior to surgery and mixed with water for 1 week after surgery. I had no issues. This past week, I drank some (not much) and I felt a horrible pain - I had mentioned it in one of my posts before, no clue where now. The only way I can describe the pain I had was the old cartoons where you see a hose and you can see a big bump of water trying to make it's way th…

My surgery is July 8. I just started trying to drink a protein shake a day, just to help with the transition. The first day, I drank a full shake and subsequently threw it up. Today, I drank half a shake, felt like throwing up, but I didn't. I have tried Premier shakes (bananas and cream and caramel). Any suggestions on what to try? I'm getting nervous that all shakes will make me sick.

So, during the week, I'm very good on vitamins. I have a timer on my computer at work that helps me keep track of these. When I'm home on the weekends, things are a little less easy to handle. Is it really a big deal if I miss a single day, so long as I'm good the rest of the week?

I ordered a six month supply of Barimelt vitamins, and they haven't worked out for me. I just don't like chewables. But I don't want these to go to waste! If you can't afford vitamins please send me a message and I'll send them to you. I live in Forest Grove, Oregon so if you live nearby we could meet up and i could get them to you. If I am going to send them to you I would appreciate $20 via venmo to cover shipping, but if you can't do that it's not a big deal. I mostly just don't want these to go to waste. I have multivitamin, iron, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin B and calcium.

I am weighing all of the positives versus all of the negatives while trying to make a final decision about surgery. I have been considering the gastric sleeve surgery for years, and am now closer to making decision than I have ever been . The referral has been made and I have scheduled my consultation. So far, just about everything I have researched has me leaning towards going for it except my fear that I won't be able to afford the expense of groceries in the future. Why are healthy foods so expensive? And the protein and vitamins expense is scary to think about. I have joint pain, apnea and high blood pressure as well as a rare disease and know that my future health wo…

I've been doing Keto WOL for past 15 months in preparation for losing weight prior to pursuing bariatric surgery and also seeking relief from inflammation - which doing Keto has helped me with greatly. I probably won't have my weight loss surgery until the end of June or the beginning of July and am trying to get started on taking vitamins/supplements to meet my body's needs that I feel are being missed right now. I also want to head off/reduce the chances of massive amounts of hair loss. I noticed my hair is thinning - I'm on a blood thinner which causes hair loss and I've hit menopause which also causes hair loss so I've been VERY stressed over this. Then I …

For those who use unflavored protein powder what do you like it mixed into? I'm not getting in enough protein so my nutritionist suggested I use Unjury unflavored protein powder and put it in anything I can tolerate. I've tried it in soups and in my cereal/milk, but I absolutely don't the texture or taste (even though it's "unflavored" ). Any ideas?

Hey everyone. I just got a variety of the supplementations/samples from this site. I am wondering what ones will do great as a replacement for coffee creamers. So, I've been tired my whole life. LOL. No, seriously. Since I was about 13, I remember being constantly tired. Like could barely keep my eyes open on a daily basis tired. And I was not overweight until age 20 and not obese until a few years ago, so it wasn't weight-related. Had all the thyroid and metabolic testing under the sun blah blah blah. Used to force myself to be active in sports, etc, when I was thinner, too... still tired af. Anyways, the last several weeks I've been taking a number of different supplements alleging to help with energy that are caffeine/stimulant-free. And I have actually noticed a substantial difference within the last two weeks. For the…

Hi Everyone, I am trying to up my protein intake and I was wondering if anyone has encountered a good unflavored protein powder. I am wanting to just add it into my water but not have any type of taste to it. I am currently just adding Crystal Light to my water...so I am thinking maybe adding protein powder could also work. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
