So I had my iron tested recently and my Ferritin level was 7. My doctor has me taking a prescription iron supplement because I have IBS Type-C and she said this would help me avoid some of the tummy issues. I've been taking it 1x per day, as prescribed, for about 9 days now. I take it at bedtime because a lot of vitamins and supplements tend to make me nauseous, and this way I'm not risking feeling sick during the day. Take it with Vitamin C to help the absorption. Have not had any issues with nausea so far. Increased my stool softener as a precaution - that seems to have helped avoid worsening constipation, However, I have noticed an increase in appetite this past w…

I've been using Patch MD patches since before my surgery. I just had my 3 month check up yesterday. And yes, for the most part, they work. The 1 vitamin that I'm still having issues with, even with the patch, weekly doses as well as daily chewables, is vitamin D. I'm deficient (Tested at 19, minimum was listed as 30). So, every other tested level was within the "good" ranges, just that Vitamin D was low. I'm currently using the following vitamins: Patch MD MultiVitamin Plus - Daily Patch MD B12 Engergy Plus - Daily Patch MD Vitamin D3 - Daily Essential Stacks Vitamin D3 K2 "Sunshine Fuel" - Daily Biotin - Daily 50,000 IU Vitami…

Yes, I know it’s not flavorless. Did anyone do unflavored protein powder in water with Crystal Light instead of flavored protein drinks??? Such expense to figure out what you like and can tolerate. I think that might be the best option for me if the protein “taste” is masked.

Is anyone in the North Dallas area interested in my remaining Premeir Protein shakes in peaches n' cream, banana n' cream, caramel, and strawberries and cream? Loved them before surgery but are turning my stomach now. I have approximately a dozen and a haldf left, but just cannot drink them. I could do a quick public meet to gift them to anyone in the area. Hi, I’m taking the bariatric multivitamin with iron (I’ll try to attach a pic). The first time I broke it open and dumped a little bit in my mouth with some water bc I wasn’t sure my stomach could handle the big pill or break down the capsule. I instantly vomited (first time since my surgery 4 weeks ago). Then today I took the whole pill hoping it would just break down. It didn’t hurt or get stuck, felt fine digestive wise, but within five minutes my mouth started watering and I vomited again. Ughhhh is there a chewable that has the same thing thisnone has? I don’t wanna take more than one pill a day so that’s why I bought this one. Thanks for any advice, I really appreci…

HI all, I am having surgery on July 10th 2018 and am struggling to find multivits in the UK. I know many surgeons (including mine) recommend to take Forceval but when I compared the amount of vits and minerals in it with that of Multivitamins designed specifically for bariatric surgery, the Forceval has much lower amounts of pretty much everything. I've tried shipping some vits in from Bariatric Advantage (from mainland Europe) but after spending £200 they never arrived and am struggling to get my money back. So for this reason I'm reluctant to order from another overseas supplier. What multivits are people taking in the UK? or are you just sticking to Forc…

Went last week to get redrawn and low and behold my iron saturation dropped to 8%? Everything else comes back "normal". Should I be worried? Anyone else have this pro orpost op? Hi, I will be in the States soon just before my RNY surgery. I need to stock up on things to make the first few months easier. When the weather cools down, I am a big soup lover. I have seen several brands incl Unjury (somebody already raved about this one) and BariatricPal. I obviously won't be trying them whilst in NY in peak summer so need to rely on your helpful opinions of which ones to order. Any other really good tips on what to order (am getting vitamin patches I think). Have a good protein shake already. Many thanks

My feeling about these two flavors is...... Meh. Not horrible. Not amazing. Peaches and cream is too sweet and very artificial.... kinda like the banana. It's not awful. Would be good in a smoothy. You can drink it straight. It's ok-ish. Cookies and cream is weird. Remember Cookie Crisp cereal? It tastes exactly like that. Some weird artificial chocolate chip cookie flavor that will remind you of childhood if you ever ate the stuff. Cookie Crisp Premier Protien isn't awful in coffee. Not as good as caramel. But you could use it in a pinch for a sort of weird mocha/biscotti flavor? Oh hell...who am I kidding...it's Cookie Crisp flavored coffe…

I had the Gastric bypass and I am out 7 years from surgery. I always took my multivitamin supplement and later found out how important it was to get in my iron supplement as I had a hard time getting it back in the normal range. I always took a calcium supplement as well but was only taking in approximately 500 to 1000 on average. However, I learned how difficult it was getting my iron levels in the normal range and was having to take additional iron supplements and it took approximately 1 1/2 years to just get it in the normal range, and 2 years to get it to the 50 level, a level that is much better where you are not groogy all the time and functioning much better. …

I am 7 years out from the Gastric by pass surgery. I have always been fanatical about taking my multivitamin supplements. Originally I didn't it was important to take iron supplements since I was in menopause and felt I was always healthy and never had any iron issues. Well it was approximately 2 years after surgery when I found myself anemic. My doctor did a ferritin (iron) check and found it to be 11 with the low end of normal being 20. Therefore I found myself starting out taking 30mg of iron a day. Three months later they checked the ferritin and it dropped to 9 even though i was taking the supplement . I ended up doubling it to 60, but 3 months later, it was s…

My NUT told me that it is better to get our nutrition from our foods. Which I know to be true. This is because our bodies recognize, metabolize and absorb the nutrients better. So, now we are told to take bariatric vitamins for life because we don't absorb vitamins as well. However, I think the jury is still out on how safe/effective synthetic vitamins are. Now I am seeing natural vitamins and minerals out there and wonder if anyone has tried these and what your experience has been. This will be the topic of my next NUT meeting since the fake sugars in the chewables I am taking give me heartburn or gas and we're in this for the long haul, so I want the best quality I…

Bariatric Spray Vitamins are one of the most exciting breakthroughs in the delivery of nutrients to the body since pills were invented nearly a thousand years ago. Taking supplements orally is the fastest, most efficient and convenient way to take your daily dosage. Oral sprays deliver the purest form of supplements by sending them directly into your bloodstream. When you spray into your mouth, the micro-sized droplets are instantly absorbed through the capillaries and the nutrients are absorbed within seconds without stress to the organs. Went to put a new package of banana Premier Protein shakes (bought not quite a week ago) into the fridge tonight and noticed one of them was really swollen and smelled funky, even closed. Had a feeling it was bad, so opened it up to dump it in the sink, only to find the contents were almost completely solid and reeked to high heaven. Poured some bleach down the sink after it and it STILL reeks. This is the first time I've had that happen, so I'm sure it's just a fluke of the container not being sealed properly or something, but it's about enough to make me dread opening the rest of them (even though none of them are swollen). And no, it wasn't anywhere close to …

Hi friends! My name is Jacqui, and I had surgery on 3/14/18. I was doing well with my vitamins until surgery. Now they make me terribly sick, sometimes to the point of throwing up. My doctor says to take them with yogurt, like crush them up in it, but I can't eat enough yogurt to get the whole multivitamin and I'm still sick afterward. Does anyone have experience with these? Or an alternative vitamin regimen? I would like to keep these ideally as they are the ones covered by my insurance. For reference, I take two multi in the morning, two calcium around 10 am, two more calcium around 4:30 pm and Iron around 7 or 8. The multi and the iron are the worst.
