Okay, I know I'm not the only one eating non-breakfast food for Breakfast. Let's hear what your breakfasts look like post WLS and what type of WLS you had. I was banded 12 weeks ago. Today I had a cup of coffee followed by a cup of turkey cranberry salad. Yesterday I had a Greek lamb meatball. Loving this crazy life!

I had my surgery about 10 months ago and have developed a rather horrible reaction to something, the reason I think it's related to my lapband is because my sister also got this about 6 months post op. I developed a lumpy rash (similar to insect bites) between my thighs and on my upper arms and put it down to loose skin as I had lost a fair amount a weight from these areas. It has gradually become worse and is now all over my body - the lumps not so much but the itching is everywhere. I have never had allergies in my life but it almost seems like a severe allergic reaction. It seems to be worse of an evening/night and is bad enough that it wakes me up. I have …

The past few weeks have been hell. My stomach is in bad pain - the kind that prevents me from sleeping. I'm eating too much, which is putting too much pressure on my wounded & trying-to-heal stomach. The band definitely did some damage to my stomach and esophagus. According to my doc, I need to eat like a bandster to make it heal, otherwise I'll be in major trouble. But hello? If we could eat small portions none of us would be here. I don't know what to do. The diet doc referred me to the addiction specialist, who is vacationing in Spain while I eat myself to death. The diet pills make me feel like I’m going to have a heart attack. I ate 1/2 gallon of ic…

I've seen several posts regarding discouragement, doubting decisions made to have the band and/or other WLS's because it was harder than they expected, wondering what they're doing wrong because they didn't wake up overnight and lose 50lbs., I've cheated on my band or on my pre-op diet is all hope lost, etc., etc. So here's a senario to consider when you find yourself in these places. Stop and look at it this way, if someone were to offer you a chance to win the mega-milions, with no strings attached other than to follow a few simple rules, you would do it in a heartbeat right? Not only would you do it but I bet 99% of us would be successful in following the precise r…

I had my first fill completed last THursday and last night I got chicken stuck. It was horrible and the worst feeling ever. Basically felt like someone was choking you but you could still breathe and swallow. I was eating chicken which I have eaten before (sunday night rotisserie) but last night it was grilled chicken and couldn't get it down. It finally came back up and then I had a protein shake instead of dinner. Had all soft foods today and just ate chicken salad and had no problems. Is this normal after 1 fill?

How long does it take for you to decide you are at a weight loss plateau/stall...? One week without loss, two...? Also, how do you tell if you need another fill? I know that each day is different with what you can eat, etc. I have definitely experienced this. I'm just curious what various signs are. Thanks in advance!!

Hey guys! I was banded 5/6 and this week I am able to start eating things like oatmeal and small curd cottage cheese. I am having such a hard time waiting to take another bite! I am hungry lol plus I often forget. Now, since last night I've felt like I had something stuck in my throat. What can I do to get it down? I've tried jumping up and down, coughing, hot lemonade... nothing is working. And how did u guys learn to break the bad habit? Thanks

This lapband is gonna drive me to drink. I had my fifth fill on April 30th and I thought I might finally be in the elusive green zone. I wasn't able to eat a lot and lost several pounds. I loved it. Here we are, June 4, and little by little I find I can eat more and more and the weight loss has slowed to nothing. I'm going back on June 25 for my next appt. But, because I lost several pounds just after the last fill, I know my Dr will hesitate to add anything. Even though I tell him I lost it all in the two weeks following the last fill and none since. I do find I have some days where I can eat normally and other days where I can't eat much and feel like I'm going …

Just read a post by Bama53......I started to reply and my reply started to get long (go figure) so instead I started my own post...but this is in responce to Bama53, that got me motivated..... When I had my last fill I encountered difficulties.....,.......I immediatley started to blame the band, thinking I may be too tight...even called my Dr. after a few weeks....fortunately he talked me out of getting Fluid taking out, , but instead explained to me the band will CHANGE my life...and that a lifetime of eating the wrong foods the wrong way are now showing itself...exposed to the light! I learned I could not possibly be successful with the band and still hang onto som…

Hello there everyone, If you live in the local GTA area, I want to tell you about a new local support group. I'm going to be the new chapter leader in the Oakville/Mississauga/Burlington area. I was banded in March of this year by Dr. Christopher Cobourn. While I'm not working now, I have a background in management and human resources and I hope to learn along with you. I'd love to know who would attend meetings and whether a daytime or an evening meeting is preferable. I can do either. You don't have to be from Oakville/Mississauga or Burlington. It doesn't matter, however meetings will be held in Oakville. Bariatric Pal is providing us information for dis…

Has anyone had an experience in taking Prednisone with lap band? Any precautions I should take. I am on 2nd day liquids. ATE UP by yellow flies from a beach trip last weekend...with 63 bites and counting. I really NEED the prednisone to shed the itching and blistering the bites are causing. Any help appreciated.

So I just had my 3-year bandiversary a couple weeks ago and now next month I'll be getting my first fill under fluoroscopy to see if there is anything funny going on with my band...I had a baby last year and I've gotten a few fills since then with no change...like none whatsoever. It feels like I don't have a fill at all but I still get stuck. I'm worried something is wrong but at the same time, I'm hoping something is wrong so I have a reason for my weight loss being at a stall. Is it weird to be excited about a possible issue? Anyway, wish me luck! I'm not sure if I want the all-clear or them to find an issue that is fixable...Here's hoping whatever is wrong isn't sup…

I'm going to my last appointment before insurance approval paperwork is submitted. I am planning to have the lapband in July. I have two weeks of vacation and some sick days, should I request sick days or vacation or ask for a leave? My company does not know I am doing this, although my insurance covers the procedure. I work from home so I don't see my co-workers or my boss very often. I don't really want to rock the boat by announcing I'm having WLS. I have a feeling they will talk about it and may even decide to let me go (this is a fear I always kinda have, not necessarily substantiated! Lol) What did you guys do? Or what would you suggest I do? By the way, I am rela…

I have always said that it is easier to say no to carbs than it is to indulge & then have to give them up again. ... and let's be more specific, when I say carbs, I mostly mean potato chips! I have such a weakness for potato chips. It is definitely my red light food. I find that when I indulge, it just causes me to want more. The craving is very much insatiable. So, why do I do it?! I have no freakin' idea why! Once carbs are in my system, Instead of the craving going away because it was satisfied, I just want more. Now I have to figure out how to put an end to this nasty carb craving cycle. Anyone else like this? I feel out of control & 'weak' today. Sorry,…

I have a been a member here since Oct 2012 and banded in Sept 2013. This site has been a Great resource for me. From educational to inspirational. There are many things I have learned during the time since I was banded thru this website that I will always remember: 1) Everyone is different in so many ways. From how many cc's you need to get to your "sweet spot" to what "you" are able to tolerate". 2)Chew, chew, chew" and take "small bites. 3)Follow the instructions/directions of your Doctor, not someone else's. 4)When in doubt, call your Doctor. You can read other people's experience's with what they are feeling or have been through, but it comes down to #1. Go…

so, i'm sitting here working on month-end stuff and i look at the calendar and it hits me, my first fill is NEXT WEDNESDAY! my NP was happy to schedule my first fill at 5 weeks post-op, versus 6 weeks, which i'm so grateful for! i've been eating 1/2 to 3/4 of food, and it really isn't holding me over. even my morning meals aren't holding me as long. as excited as i am, this was the part of lap-band surgery that i feared THE MOST! going into surgery, i knew the worst part was going to be the IV, yeah i had some port pain/soreness afterward, but i've read some of these stories where the doctor can't find the port and it scares the s*** out of me to get stuck by a…

After going to a center and receiving fills by a nurse for 11 months... the Dr.s office has decided to change things up a bit. Now I am required to go to the Dr and he will do the fills. Once I was in yesterday he begin to tell me he wasn't satisfied with the 47#'s I've lost so far. His objective was to place me in the GREEN ZONE immediately. He removed the saline from the band and measured it back in; calibrated it and added two additional cc's. I'm not questioning him just curious if anyone has had this procedure done before. ??? Thanks!!

Please read this post carefully. Some of you have been following the TLBC/Slimband/Dr. Yau thread on BP over the past week and I wanted to give everyone an update. As one of 3 organizers of the 2014takeaction@gmail.com email account, I can assure you that we have had an overwhelming amount of people contacting us to offer their support and interest in joining with us. These people include those banded by TLBC, some by Slimband and even former TLBC/Slimband staff members. So we’ve got a solid group and there’s a high potential for growth once we spread the word and more people go online. All of us are either interested in pursuing legal action or are looking for mor…

To the tune of "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall" 99 pounds left of fat on this bod, 99 pounds left of fat. Lose the next pound, and dance all around, 98 pounds left of fat on this bod. Guess WHAT? Today I lost the pound that makes my FitBit tell me I have 99 pounds to go!!!!! Yahoo! I can really tell a difference in restriction with my second fill from last week. Such a small amount of food satisfies me. Am I exiting Bandster Hell for Bandster Heaven? I hope so!

Hey everyone. I have 2 questions...I was banded on 5/6 and have been working out pretty much everyday for about the last week, maybe week and a half. Today my port sight is so sore. I sneezed and wanted to slap myself lol. Have I been doing too much, too soon? I have been reading stories about port flips and stuff like that and now I'm super nervous. Another thing is, my stomach has been fluttering all day long. Maybe it's gas? Has anyone experienced that. I have my 1st follow up Wednesday and I'm worried! !! :/ thanks

I went in yesterday for my monthly follow-up appointment and am down another 7lbs, which puts me 10lbs below my goal weight. I never thought I would get here and I'm thrilled, I haven't been this weight since I was like 14:-) Here comes a statement I never thought I would say..... I don't want to lose any more. I'm happy where I'm at right now, I don't want to lose and I don't want to gain, I just want to stay here. I'm not sure how to level this thing out:-) I asked my doctor and he said the band will stop at a certain point but that doesn't mean it will stop at MY point so, he suggested I start adding in more calories, which of course is the logical thing to do BU…

I was banded back in Sept 2013. After about 4 fills, I thought I was finally in the "green zone". I ate my measured 3 meals a day with no problems eating whatever I wanted, being sure to measure out my Protein, veggies, carbs. I would have a morning snack of almonds and an evening snack of my plain yogurt with almond butter and sweetener. But then I started eating a little more, not staying full as long. When I went back to my Surgeon the 1st of April and told him I wanted another adjustment, he had no problem with it, but did warn me that some people get to the point where they do get a fill, but wished they hadn't and may be harder for them to eat then they are acc…

We are coming upon our two year anniversary. I have just the lapband and have not had restriction for a over a year until a month ago. My port was revised in August after flipping and leaking 10 months after the initial surgery. I didn't go back to have it filled until April 2014 due to my job situation. I have not gained weight since the revision, but I am still sitting close to 300 pounds. Next I week I meet with the nutritionist to make a new diet plan since my old one is not working. How do you control the cravings when you can't mind over matter it?

So I can be very -ahem- impulsive emotionally. I am in my 4th week post-op and although there are ups and downs I am finally on board to being serious. I had a serious talk with my mom about failing. She said I will either succeed or I will fail and learn from my mistakes, however what a shame to go through a painful surgery just to give up. She is right! I am on track, and even though I am not allowed these items at this time anyway, yesterday I passed on cake (omg love) and tonight before a work meeting I ate some fish and passed on the pizza everyone else was eating. Four boxes! For me, these are both huge trigger foods for me. They are comfort foods! I was satis…

All of a sudden, over the last 2 -3 weeks my band makes the loudest noises just after a couple bites if food. I have 2-3 bites and the noise kicks in and I have to stop and wait 30 min to an hour before I can resume my meal. I wanted to know if only I could hear it or if people around me could too. So I recorded it and it is loud. To save embarrassment I will only have some soup at lunch at work. I don't want people around me to hear. Anyone have any ideas. I had a fill last November but it seems like the noise has started the last couple of weeks. Anyone have any info ?? Help!

what I mean by this is: I have been banded since Feb 2007 and have gained all my weight back. I did not like the way it felt when I ate solid Protein. I am not tight in fact I am probably at a good fill. I was just wondering what it feels like to other people? I avoid solid protein, a fear of getting stuck is what I think caused this in the first place. So I tend to eat slider foods, Just wondering how it feels to others.

This morning I started my daily protein shake/ smoothie. A little water, the last of the Greek yogurt, scoop of protein powder, frozen strawberries and voila! Blend in the Bella Rocket Blender! Only this morning, the threaded cup locked tight in the machine (which is the on switch). Unplugged , tried with all my might to get the cup out of the machine! No luck! I'm laughing at myself for "fighting" with the blender - After all- THERE IS NO MORE YOGURT! And I don't live in town! Went into hubs tools, found a small flat screw driver and finally , broke the seal! :-) you can guess, it also broke the lock on the blender... So as I sit here, enjoying my breakfast, any sugges…
