So, I've been reading posts talking about carb intake and how we should be following a low carb lifestyle (which I agree with) but I'm just wondering how many carbs do you typically consume in a day, what's recommended? Is this something you track on a daily basis like you do your calories? I personally haven't counted or tracked this, I don't eat bread, rice, Pasta, etc.so I guess in my mind that was tracking it:-) Just wondering how closely everyone monitors this. Thanks for your input!

  9. This has been a crazy week. One of those weeks where I worked every day and had some work event each night. Just exhausting. But...several interesting things happened: 1. A few different NSV's this week. I was able to wear several things from my closet that I haven't worn in a couple of years. That was really good.....I needed them for a couple of dressy events. 2. I totally got checked out by some guy at the gas station. I seriously don't remember the last time that happened. I tend to be oblivious to that stuff....but this was really obvious. 3. A couple people noticed and commented on my weight loss....they are basically the first that have noticed,....whic…

Almost 6 weeks out from surgery down 30lbs. I'm scared to get my fill! Does it hurt? I guess I'm not so scared about the pain but just that I got use to eating things that I might not be able to eat after my fill. Did anyone have problems eating things after there fill that they ate before there first fill?

  16. So I had my surgery December, 18th 2013. I have a 10 cc band and I have been into the doctor and have gotten 6 fills. I am currently only up to 3 cc in my band. now I guess that they are moving me to .33 fills which means ill have to go in 3 more times just to get up to 4 cc's in my band. I guess my point is that I am frustrated with how long I have been in the yellow zone. I was 387 at the beginning of my journey and now I am down to 332. I have lost weight and it has helped me not be as hungry. The worse thing I noticed is that I am hungry withen like an hour of me eating. What do you guys suggest I do to keep my mind off of being hungry all the time.

I am heading to Oklahoma from Wyoming to visit family this weekend and am considering getting a small .25 cc fill since I will be in the same town as my doc on Friday before my mom and I fly out. I don't get down to him often (4 hours away). My concern is flying right after a fill. I had .5 taken out about a month ago because I was way too tight and have been starving since. I have lost about 7lbs since that and am just struggling. I am trying to weigh the risk of being a tiny bit tight on my vacation against the fact that my life is getting really busy and another trip to the doc in the next month is unlikely. Opinions please!

  18. Hi. I had my surgery in October of 2013. My doctor is very strict with fills. I believe I'm only at 3cc's. I got this fill about two months ago and everything was fine until about three weeks ago. All of sudden for the past three weeks my lap band hurts. I'm almost thinking it slipped higher up in my throat. Two months ago my surgeon ordered me to have an endoscopy by my gastroenterologist. After the endoscopy, My gastroenterologist said everything looked fine, except she wondered why my surgeon placed the lap band so high. Now I'm concerned since I've been experiencing this strangling sensation for three weeks. If the band has slipped higher, what will happen n…

So today I was just curious to see what weight I would need to be at to fall into the"normal" range according to the BMI chart...Don't do it, I shouldn't have because it just pissed me off...haha. According to their chart I need to lose another 13lbs before barely making it into the "normal" range and then something new came up called the "Waist to Height" ratio???? Never heard of this so I went along and according to this number I fall right in the middle of healthy with the range being .4-.5. How is this possible?? So if I were to lose another 13 lbs. I would meet the "normal" criteria for BMI but then on the other end of the spectrum I would be considered "unhealthy…

I went for my first fill yesterday and he couldn't find my port! After several attempts he stopped after he hit a nerve. I have a pretty high tolerance for pain but it started hurting so bad that it brought tears to my eyes. He gave me a script for pain meds and Valium and wants me to come back next Tuesday and take them before I go and try again. His nurse, who has the band also, was very surprised and said this has only happened once in his office in the five years she has worked for him! I am very worried! Has this happened to anyone?

Ths whole thing of me wanting surgery is like a huge thing with my friends. They dont want me to get it. They tell me I don't need it and that there are other and better options. What they don't know is that I've been trying this on my own with my mom for 2 weeks on monday, I see no changes in anything. I thought I would have seen at least some by now, and nothing. It's so frustrating and stressful. But yeah what is everyone's daily routine as well?

I've completely fell off track *sigh* The good news is I haven't gained any since being band but I should be much further than what I am today. When I started this journey I was weighing 310lbs. The lowest I've been was 250lbs. Currently I am 265lbs which is a 15lb gain. I know I can do better but I've lost the basic fundamentals of this process. Hello Hello! I had my very first fill today. I had surgery a year ago this summer and never felt like I needed a fill. My doctor wanted me to come in 3 weeks after surgery but I didn't feel like it was necessary. It's been a year and today they put 3cc in my band, which had nothing before. Is this typical? Not needing a fill for so long and then suddenly needing one? I've lost 60lbs without one, IDK... just looking for some advice on how to deal with the new fill! Thanks!

I'm 9 months post-op and am really frustrated, to the point that I am regretting this surgery. I lost 24 lbs during the 4 weeks of my pre-op and post-op liquid diet. I lost maybe another 10 pounds in the months after, but those have all come back on very slowly. As of this morning, I was at a loss of 24 lbs. For 9 months, all I have to show is that I could lose weight when only consuming liquid pre/post-op. I knew that this wasn't a magic fix for my weight issues; I did my research and knew what was entailed. I thought it would help me feel satiated and allow me to eat less. That was the goal, right? I can't eat solids for hours in the morning and have to do a Pr…

Was given a numbing shot for the port and then he gets a needle that is 5" long and inserts in the port and left it there while I walked over to the x-ray, a little unnerving but no pain what so ever. During a family discussion today, my sister told my cousins that my success with the band is because I 'think' it helps me. She is certain that my appetite suppression is in my head. In other words, the band works because I feel 'psychological' restrictiong rather than physical restriction. She thinks this because I have no fills. I understand that this opinion she has helps her to not face her own demons. She is morbidly obese as I was and she is not ready to take on the challenge of weight loss whether it's via surgery or not. By rationalizing that I was 'ready' to lose weight, she doesn't have to investigate this option because she is not yet ready herself. I don…
