I know alcohol is a subject all on it's own and some people don't drink with the band. My dr never said not to drink. I like to binge drink occasionally and responsibly (I'm 23). I will only have a drink while I'm out for dinner or something but last night I saw friends I haven't seen in awhile and we partied. I drank a significant amount of alcohol and was okay but this morning I ended up puking all morning. I rarely vomit from alcohol. Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone has been able to drink, be drunk, and not vomit with the band

Yeah I suppose I shouldn't drink to excess anymore. I also sometimes get bad migraines though where I am puking for 24 hours straight, I suppose that night dislodge my band too. I wonder why my dr didn't say anything about that. I will have to ask tomorrow when I see him.

I'm not sure you can actually use the words binging and responsibly in the same sentence. We all know anything in excess is not good for you whether it's food, alcohol, stress you name it, it's all hard on the body. Vomiting like that can cause your band to slip, and in addition to that alcohol contains tons of calories, sugar and carbs.

Just because we can, doesn't mean we should;)

I think since being banded our bodies process some things differently then they once did so what you may have been able to do before you may not be able to do now. Listen to your body and your band and most important check with your dr. tell them what happened and follow their advice to the T.

I think it's called an Oxymoron. It's like large shrimp, or army intelligence. Binging responsibly fits that description.

Yeah, I've also found that since being banded just a little booze goes a long way. I recall having a shot of tequila with a corona chaser and felt a little woozy. Realized right then that a few more of those and I'd be worshipping the porcelain throne. And then maybe a quick trip to the ER?? My apologies for so many clichés.

Yeah by responsibly I mean that I stay in at a friend's house or my house for the night and make sure not to drive or put anyone in harm's way. Anyway, I'm glad I didnt end up in the ER. I thought I would have because I couldn't keep any liquid down. I work at to hospital so that would have been embarrassing

I have definitely over-imbibed a few times since I got my band. Luckily, I have never gotten sick. Wine seems to make me loopy much quicker than it used to. I think it's okay if every now and then you want to go out and tie one on. I would definitely find a way, though, to stop before reaching the point of throwing up.

My doctor addressed the issue. No drinking for 3 to 6 months then it will go slowly. My first g and T was 3 months out. Drank about 2 oz and was woozie. Two days later had another and finished it 1`.5 hours after it was served. The next one my roommate (a true alcoholic) had to finish it. Have not had one in nearly 6 months and may not. Too much money for what little I get from it.

I am kind of over the whole novelty of "partying" now which sucks because I'm so young. I suppose I can have a few if I'm with friends but no longer will I do what I did the other night. I'm not really that sad about it!

OK I celebrated the 27th anniversary of my 39th birthday last night and I did over indulge a bit lol. I had enough drinks to be brave enough to get up and sing karaoke. OK I survived but I don't recommend binge drinking, you might wind up like me and sing karaoke LOL
