My surgery date is May 6th. I'm trying to get things done ahead of time so I'm organized for my surgery and not totally stressed out. Any suggestions for the full liquid stage of the diet? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

After several months of trying to get restriction my dr replaced my port and tubing on Friday. He found a small split in the back of my tubing. He gave me 4 cc because he didn't want me to be too restricted while I recovered. I go back in 2 weeks to check things out and add more fluid. Hopefully I will soon find the restriction that I once had!

Hey I'm 20, living in Melbourne. My PHI ticks over on the 22nd of July so I'm hoping to get banded as close to that date as possible. I'm seeing my surgeon, Zeev Duieb, soon to confirm the date. I'm just here to introduce myself and welcome anyone else in Melbourne that will need a lapband buddy at around the time of my surgery! I've done all my pre-op appointments(blood tests, physician, dietician and psychologist) if you have any concerns or questions about those appointments I'm to happy to answer

I had lap band surgery six months ago and have not lost any weight. It is frustrating I don't feel like I'm eating any less than I did before surgery. In fact they got my band so tight that I got food stuck there and they had to take all the Fluid out and I have to start all over again. I don't know if I even want to. Any suggestions?

With the amount of weight I have lost I do have some lose skin. But it is really only in my arms, my stomach does not look bad. At first I nervous about summer and going to the beach and then I started to think about it. I have lost 174lbs who cares if my skin is hanging! It shows that I worked my butt off to get where I am at! If someone doesnt like my arms they dont have to look and if they are looking I am just going to tell them...thats what it looks like to lose a whole person!!! I am so happy with where I am at right now and I am glad I sat back and thought about it! I hope everyone else has the same way of thinking, we have came a long way and who cares if you ha…

I have had my lab band for over 3 years . I have had constant diarrhea since I have had the band. I talked to the doctor and they said had nothing to do with the band and told me to see another doc. I saw a GI specialist and have done a endoscopy and all kinds of stool samples and he can't find anything wrong with me. My situation is bad - I have to go a lot and it's embarrassing and my stomach makes all kinds of loud liquid gurgling noises. It has effected my life adversely. I have only lost 30 pounds with the band and could live with out. I have a decent fill but had problems before the any fill. Anyone have any experience with this, or have any ideas? My Dr says he wil…

I am in urgent need of a mentor/support buddy. I am several years post op. I was getting comfortable with my size about 18 months after surgery. I really don't know what happened after that. I know that I got super busy with work. I got laid off. I have a gazillion responsibilities with the kids. I have four children, one about to start college, one sophomore, one 8th grader, and one in elementary. I became a PTA president ( dumb, I know ). I did TONS of volunteer work until I started my new job. Somewhere in the span of these past 6 years, I have been a faithful wife of a deputy who has had four episodes of unstable angina, and has undergone 4 PTCAs and has had 7 ste…

Had my 3rd fill a week ago. He was a little more aggressive this time. I still feel like I have hardly any restriction. On the up side I have lost 4lbs since then. Which is very encouraging for me considering I lost only 3lbs last month. I would really like to lose 8lbs a month, but would be happy with 5. So I guess I'm just happy with where I am right now

I had my Lap-band procedure done on April 4th 2014. I lost 15 lbs on the liquid diet prior to surgery and 6 lbs in the first week and a half after. I saw my surgeon that day and he said I was doing wonderful and that normally you do not loose weight right after surgery because you are in healing mode. I was so excited to be ahead of the game. He told me that I would start weight loss mode after my first fill on April 30th. He said that between now and then I should wean myself off of the protein shakes and eat regular healthy food. High protein (60g) and low carb. I walk 3 miles a day at a brisk pace getting well over 10,000 steps according to my fitbit device. I HAVE GAI…

Studies Demonstrate Long-Term Weight Loss Outcomes for LAP-BAND® System Studies Add to Data Supporting Use of Safe and Least Invasive Weight Loss Surgical Procedure AUSTIN (April 4, 2014) —Two recent studies show the laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) procedure to be a safe and effective long-term obesity treatment. While most published studies on bariatric surgery show only short-term follow-up data of less than three years, two studies published in the Annals of Surgery provide long-term data. Both studies also addressed historical concerns with a high rate of reoperation after LAGB, showing that revision is safe and effective and does not impact long…

I know it can't be confirmed without a doctors visit but I thought maybe I can get some advice. Thursday I had gotten a nut stuck. I ended up throwing up. Like from my lower stomach. Like an idiot I continued eating that day cause I felt "unstuck" well everything I ate immediately came up. Lower stomach throwing up once again. So from that afternoon on I decided to stay on liquids. Well I even had trouble getting water and my protein shake down. So all day yesterday I just had my coffee and water and a double protein shake. Everything is staying down not feeling "stuck" but now I'm burping everytime I sip anything. I called the surgeon they told me to wait it out until Mo…

So when it comes to eating the good stuff (protein, veg, fiber etc) I eat very little and am satisfied very quickly and don't get hungry again for a few hours maybe even as long as 8-12 hours!! I have noticed though if I eat carbs I can eat unlimited amounts basically and feel hungry right away. My surgeon told me before I had the band that it doesn't work for carbs so try not to eat them... Being a carbaholic... A do indulge sometimes. It really is harboring me though I feel. I'm not losing as quickly as I was in the beginning. I went the whole month of March with no loss. Now it looks after my second fill and losing 7 lbs 3 weeks ago almost immediately that I've stopped…

Hey! So iv only just started my journey and spoken to my dr now I'm waiting to see specialist and get the ball rolling! I'm very nervous about a few things ; 1. The actual procedure and the 1 in 2,000 people can die? 2. How do you cope after with the emotional eating/boredom eating? Learning to say no? 3. I eat quite healthily anyway but I like pasta/rice am I still going to be able to eat carbs? 4. How long was the change in portion sizes and feeling full so on? I'm sure there are loads more questions but these where few if any of you could help at all? Thankyou

I've been banded about 2 months now, I have 3cc's in my band, and I've been working at listening to the signals my band is sending. I think it's hard for us newly banded people to always tell what level of restriction we're at. I honestly don't know if I'm in the green zone or not, but I had an epiphany the other day about being full. It went like this: Last night, after a home cooked meal with friends, everyone was sitting around talking about how full they were and rubbing their stomachs. I sat there thinking am I full too? I wanted to ask them all how they knew they were full. Did they feel it in their stomachs, physically? Because that’s what my definition of full …

Hello, I have a question - I have not had a fill since 2012 - Since then it seems like I go in streaks. Some days I can eat and it goes down fine, no problems other days I cannot eat anything - everything gets stuck sometimes I cannot even get fluids down. The last two years have been extremely stressful and I wrote alot of it off to stress and it effecting my band, but my life has been getting back to normal and i am still having issues. I have no pain it is just frustrating to be able to eat really good for two days and then not be able to get anything to stay for two days. I was losing steadily but I have hit a plateau. Also it seems like when I know I am going to…

So I wouldn't count this as a bad thing necessarily but.. I don't feel like I want to eat at all. I stopped eating sugar and carbs about a week ago. Two days ago I ate 1/2 cup chicken salad with some franks hot sauce midday and went to bed. Yesterday, I had a protein shake for breakfast, a hard boiled egg at lunch and I ordered dinner, waited an hour, took one bite and got stuck so I put it in the fridge. Still not hungry. I'm just making sure I get my fluids in. Maybe this is a side effect of the low carb and band together idk. I don't want to make myself sick though. Not sure what to do.

First thank you everyone for your support. I went to see my Dr a few days ago. Well last Christmas I got the flu. After I was well my neck was in pain. I went to see my Dr and my thyroid was inflamed and swollen. Now I am cold all the time, my hair is falling out, I am tired all the time and I have gained weight. Hypothyroidism! I have one more test and maybe another ultrasound to do and that will tell my Dr if I need meds to help with my thyroid problem. In the mean time, I got another fill and now up to 7.5 cc and continue with my diet and small portions. And go back for another fill in June.. I am not so worried about the fill, I would like the get my th…

I'm at a little over 18 months banded. 14cc band, the max I was filled was 6.5 ccs, which proved to be too much (my doc aggressively fills). With 6.5 I was PBing daily. Went back down to 6ccs, and the PBing slowed to 3 or 4 times a week. I'd never know what would trigger my band. I'd always chew everything completely, avoid liquids with meals, etc. I tried really hard to be the model band patient. Some times salad would trigger it, other times it would be meat, lentils, Pasta. You name it, I've gotten stuck and sick on it. I went in and had an unfill down to 2 ccs, so that I could hopefully give my pouch time to calm itself down, and allow me to start over again. I got …

So I went for a follow up with my PCP yesterday for routine blood tests and vitamin levels. My doctor is a bit over cautious. Well I haven't seen him in over a year and he was just amazed with me. I was do excited to see everything was great! No vitamin deficiencies, no high blood pressure or sugar or cholesterol! But the very best feeling was walking out of there with paperwork that didn't say morbidly obese or even obese. For once I was happy to have gone to the doctors.

I don't know the details behind this? How does this happen? Isn't it stitched in? I'm just curious. I have the realize band which I think comes with a mechanism that "self stitches" or something like that. Well it just feels like a little off from the original place it was like almost tilted. Wondering if it's from loss or from my doctor pulling and poking on it during my last fill because he had trouble finding the spot to stick the needle

I started a thread and want to delete it because it caused nothing but drama. Some lady thinking she knows everything when really she and all of the other repliers are not even grasping the ACTUAL original thing I was posting about and are only focusing in on what they would like to hear. Anyway, enough with that, how can I delete it? Thinking about leaving the site and finding a new one if posts can not be deleted.

Jelly Beans in my house must be like "Crack" to an addict. I can't keep my hand out of the bowl. I guess I will have to throw them in the trash tonight. I don't really miss too much "bad" stuff but these Jelly Beans have me hooked. I love the darn black ones and the red ones. I will eat green if there are no other colors.. I did not buy chocolate bunnies or peeps so that is probably a good thing. I did buy my husband a chocolate bunny but I haven't touched it. Pray for me that I can get the jelly beans out of my mind and body. Happy Easter to Everyone.

I am looking for a place in Toronto (GTA) where I can get a fill adjustment. Some clinics are asking $5.00.00 just for registration with them! Supposedly that's how much they need 'to take care of me'!!! Is there a place where you can go and get a fill like in the old times?

I remember being able to lose 50 pounds by dieting when I was in my late 20's--it took three months, but the weight came off. Now that I'm older, and even with the band, I am noticing that it takes a lot of WORK... strict calorie and Protein counting, and a lot of time at the gym. It ain't getting easier... I wish I had this tool 30 years ago.

I was banded 2/26. Lost 25 lbs in first three weeks.. No loss since. First fill was 4-10. She say 3.5 cc in my 10 cc band..I can eat as much as I want, I don't have to chew well. Everything goes down. Never a stuck episode since right after surgery.. Is it possible the fill did not go into the band? It's wasn't under fluoroscopy.. I am exercising more than I ever have in my life. I feel like I am on a diet. I am really frustrated!

Ok, been a few weeks since I last logged in, do not really have anything to say lately, and very little in common to be honest... But I had an episode with the band recently (don't get that many anymore) I thought I should log in and share..... For those that do not know me, I have been banded for 3 -1/2 years, hit my Green Zone 4 months, 3 fills after surgery, lost all my excess weight and body fat, reversed all my co-morbidities, became a gym rat, vegetarian, blah, blah, blah.....I should also say I'm 62 years old, a heart attack ( and cardiac surgery) survivor, ....well, you get the picture. In other words I'm a veteran who had the band totally changed my life. Tota…

At the time of my surgery the surgeon placed a 14cc band, I am currenty at 9.5cc's (5 fills) and I am still hungry. Anyone else experience this problem? I carry all my weight in my stomach area (visceral fat) as my doctor calls it, she also let me know that it will take some time to chase it because I will be losing a lot of during my weight loss. I had my surgery on December 19, 2013 and have lost 62 pounds so far, I can still eat more 1 cup but no more than 2 cups, I try to stay with-in that area, but can feel restriction without any problems, but I am losing weight, though I work out for 60 to 90 mins - 4 to 5 times a week; In additon, I run 2 to 3 miles a day, my …
