I have had 5 fills and I am NOT losing weight. I am recently always hungry. I am worried that there is something wrong. Today for dinner, I ate a Atkins frozen dinner followed by three pork chops and a Atkins Meal Bar. I am still hungry.

Hi all, so I'm now 22 weeks post op. I've lost a lovely 35lbs but the scales haven't moved for the last month! I'm really not happy. I eat so little and it's not showing. What are the key things you find to shift the weight? I'm getting married next weekend and really hoped I would be 18 stone. I'm 10 lbs away from that goal. Feeling really low. I had my second fill of 2 ml 2 weeks ago giving me 6mls in my 10ml band. I feel restriction now. I'm having roughly 300-400 cals a day. I have a couple of cups of tea but that's about it Fluid wise. Please help me. The pics attached are op day/today. And pre op/Sunday. Xx 43063[/A…

I'm still in the morbidly obese category as I was only banded 2 months ago. I'm -25 lbs so it's working slowly but surely. I am doing Pilates in school 2x a week but am thinking about trying crossfit in the summer because it's high intensity and I need someone yelling at me lol. I like that kind of workout style. I am just wondering if anyone has tried being SO overweight still and has been able to keep up.

I am realizing how careful I have to be of caffeine. For years I used food to anchor myself, to get grounded if I was flying a little too high on stress, adrenaline, etc. Now that I can't do that I am realizing what a go-to that instinct for food always was for me. This morning a little too much black tea and a little too much anxiety as I get ready for a meeting. I am pausing now to examine my feelings because in the old days this would be exactly when I'd go for something like a big fat muffin to counteract that uncomfortable "too high on caffeine" feeling. The old sugar and caffeine combo. Instead I'm here on the forum, writing it all down so maybe next time I'll…

IM always amazed by my pre vs post op food intake. Especially when it comes to me being naughty. Like today for instance. I caved and got a cheeseburger. Normally I would have eaten 4-5. Today I barely ate 1. Has anyone else felt as shocked as me with the changes?

I have a 10 hour road trip coming up and I'm worried about what I will eat while in the car. I dont eat at fast food places because there is nothing there I can really eat without PB'ing or vomiting. What kind of foods/munchies would you suggest to take in the car. (I just got home from an 8 hour road trip and have to leave again in a few days for a 10 hour trip, while on the 8 hour trip, I did not eat the whole way there or back because my family wanted fast food, and there was nothing that I knew I could eat.) I cannot eat chicken, grapes, or any bread products. I know I can eat string cheese, but need more than that for 10 hours....HELP

Hi everyone, thought I'd check in and see if anyone is still coming onto the site from March 07. Today is my 7 year anniversary with my band. I am super happy I did this.... My life looks so different than it did 7 years ago.... I did gain 10 lbs this year so I am working at getting it off. I don't want to go back where I came from... The head hunger really is difficult but I am not going to let it get me. I stopped eating sugar on Ash Wednesday and I must say the cravings are gone. But it's one day at a time. Sugar was killing me this year. Last year I investigated switching to the sleeve. Mainly due to normal band behaviors we need to follow like havi…

I'm really needing a support system. I've had my band for 3 years and lost 100 lbs! I was doing amazing and feeling great. Life got hectic and my depression started to kick in and I've gained 50 lbs back and I'm feeling so lost. So the end of last year I had major health issues and was hospitalized, I could not swallow the antibiotics because my body was a mess and had to have my band unfilled a fair amount. At that point I was down 80 but up 20 from my lowest band weight. Then my new health insurance started January 1st and does not cover anything for my band so I just figured I could do this on my own. Obviously not....I'm scheduled for my next fill in a few weeks. I'm …

Hi all! I had my band filled last week from 0 to 2.5 cc's. I haven't been able to eat much throughout the day mainly sipping liquids and Protein drinks. It seems I'm to tight during the day to eat until after 6pm. I was doing well up until yesterday when I had a bowl of Soup around noon it was creamy no chunks, when all of a sudden I felt like I was stuck, I felt like PB'ing and didn't get any relief I even had to throw up a little. After that I relaxed and had liquids for the rest of the day but I noticed that every time I swallowed I would get a pain on the right side of my chest and it would go away after the liquid passed the band. I have never had any prob…

I'm curious how your wives/girlfriends/etc have handled your surgery, change in eating habits, and weight loss. Is your lady bigger or smaller than you? Do you think that affects her reaction to your situation? If she is bigger, is she going to consider WLS or has she had it already? Also, do you think you have a harder time with the smaller portions? I know society always assumes men need the huge portions so how hard was it to change your mindset? I struggle with it myself so I can only imagine how hard it would be if I was expected (I can't think of a better word for this) to eat that much anyway! I'm asking this because I am trying to picture my husband getting la…

This will be a long post, but I encourage you to read it if you are interested in how NSAIDs (specifically Advil) may affect your lapband, and why it's important to not be stubborn about getting an adjustment when it is needed. In early February I slipped a disk in my back. This happens to me every five years or so; either I bend over incorrectly or I lift something incorrectly. Anyway, I know how to treat it (anti-inflammatories) and I know my recovery curve--usually a couple of weeks and the inflammation dies down and the disk slides back in place. This time, however, I could not get out of the pain. The general rule for bandsters is no ibuprofen (Aleve, Advil, e…

Does adding a protein supplement to your meals help keep you filled up? I've been reading about unflavored protein powder, specifically the Unjury brand. Does that kind of protein work the same way, as chicken in filling you up? I am trying to eat my protein. I haven't had a protein shake since week 2 after surgery. I'm still in the process of getting my band filled to the right amount, and I find that I'm hungry a lot. Would this kind of protein be helpful for me? Thanks!

Got my surgery done in April of 2009 and haven't really had any problems, that is until about a month and a half ago when I started coughing really bad in the middle of the night. It gets so bad that I usually always throw up, iron occasion will even come out of my nose. Has anyone experienced this before?

Hi, I have a 3cc's in a 14cc band. I'm eating any where from 5-6oz of protein, 1/2-1cup veggies and sometimes a room for some sort of starch. I'm hungry again in 3 hours. I know I'm not in the green zone yet, but how much should I be eating in the green zone. Just some ball park figures would be great. TIA

Oh how 24 hours can't get here soon enough! I had a fill on Tuesday and I'm certain it was an over fill... well how bad could it really be, right... - let me tell you, BAD! boohoo for sure. Firstly, I'm not dehydrated I'm keeping that in check and watching for any signs (so is my husband)... but i'm very limited in what i'm getting down mostly because it's so painful and if I eat or drink anything with more than one bite every 2-5 minutes it comes back up. The worse part is this spasm feeling that is hurting the back of my throat and then I can feel the area around my band pulsing in pain. I've taken some liquid Tylenol which takes me 30 minutes to swallow the 2Ts b…

Okay, so for the past 8 months or so I've been having band issues. It got really bad about 4 months ago with vomiting up everything I ate some days (no nausea accompanying), able to eat anything I wanted and as much of it as I wanted other days, and severe heartburn. The heartburn had me puking up blood which the doctor said was likely an ulcer. Found out I was pregnant and decided to wait to go to my Dr for a scope etc. since it was likely pregnancy related. I get severe morning sickness so really thought this was the case. Out of the first trimester now and I'm still down 5 pounds since finding out I was pregnant again. I've currently 17w4d. The nurse commented today …

I'm pretty new here but I've been reading around for a couple months now. I have an appointment tomorrow, I will be 2 weeks post op. Just wondering if I will be getting a fill? I feel really no restriction and I would like to think I am very well healed. I never had any pain after surgery and now I feel starved! I am sure to get in all my protein for the day but I also feel hungry in between meals. I didn't know if 2 weeks out was too early for a fill. I also have an appointment scheduled for 6weeks post op, so I didn't know if I would be filled tomorrow or at the later appointment.

I've had my lap band for almost 6 years and have always had a problem with getting enough liquids in. It doesn't matter when I drink, before, with or at anytime after a meal (30 minutes or 2 hours) I almost always feel hungry again. It does not matter how much restriction I have. I have had the same problem whether I follow my surgeons 30 minute rule or not. Does anyone else out there have this problem and if so what do you do? Simone

Do any of y'all, who use MyFitnessPal, ever offer unsolicited advice on your friend's food diaries? I always try to stay positive in my comments, and I tend to not comment at all when I'm blown away with what crappy food choices two of my "friends" (they are really strangers) make on a regular basis. Then, it dawned on me that they might need some TOUGH LOVE, but I still don't like to give unsolicited advice..... What do y'all do?

Hiya, so it's been a while since I've been on again. I had my fill reduced to 5.5ml (can basically eat anything) in January, due to having severe reflux etc and I don't go back until June 16. In the last few months, I've written down EVERYTHING i've been eating (Snacks and all) and exercising...but to no avail...I think I've lost maybe 1kg if that....sooo...I had my details printed out and sent to me from my lapband doc and took them to my gp, along with my food diary and to cut a long story short, he's given me 2 scripts for duromine, I'm getting bloodtests done (to check thyroid and for diabetes etc) to be thorough...he also gave me a referall to a dietician and a refer…

I had surgery in end of November 2013 and have had two adjustments last one was 5 weeks ago. I've lost 46 lbs and I can eat approx 1/2 cup to 1 full cup of food. Or more depending on what it is (sliders try to avoid) all of a sudden in the last week I'm getting heart burn after I eat (none a night) I don't think I'm eating spicy food so I'm baffled. I thought at first it was sore throat because I get reflexive swallowing since banding (allergies I think) I don't know what's going on. Anyone else go thru this?

Hello. I was banded jan 15 and have lost 42lbs. The other day I over ate and felt a tightness under my bra underwire. After feeling uncomfortable it finally subsided. I am feeling some residual bloating and discomfort 2 days later. Is that normal? It doesn't hurt just feels uncomfortable. Now I totally understand the power of the band. I'm certainly not going to over eat again. You guys don't think my band slipped do you? I would be in more pain I guess.

So I've read a lot on here about a "soft stop" which allows you to know when you've had enough and need to stop eating. I kept "listening" and for months now, had never experienced such a thing. Until now. I had another fill earlier this week and suddenly, I am experiencing a soft stop each time I eat. It took a couple of times before I realized what it was but now I realize that my nose starts running when I've had enough and it's time to stop. What a strange thing....Still learning here but I SO love my band!!!! I still haven't named it yet because we're still getting to know each other and nothing has just jumped out at me but it'll happen someday, just like the soft …

Has anyone ever experience pain/discomfort when they eat or drink something? I'm not sure if my band is too tight or it's something more serious. It also feels like something pulling or weighing heavily on my esophagus. Some days are better than others. This didn't start happening until after my last fill a few weeks ago. It's very frustrating, I want the restriction without the discomfort!!

Hi everyone!....I've been reading the threads for awhile now and finally am getting around to posting ...I've lost 38 lbs with pre diet, was banded 7/31/13 and I'm now down another 62 lbs. My original goal was to loose 110lbs. So that being said I'm 10 from my goal and decided that I now want to kick my nicotine addiction. But I'm so afraid if gaining any weight. As it is the past 2 weeks I've been working out non stop 6 days a week and being very on point with my eating, yet I gained a pound back!! Any advice on either would be appreciated

Hey, long time no talk. I cannot decide what I want to do! I am not getting anywhere on my own. I am pretty much where I started when I first got the surgery the first time. It's just making me more depressed. I am trying and trying to lose it all on my own, but not having that restriction of feeling full I don't know when to stop. I never feel full like I did when I had the band. I was actually able to lose weight when I had the band, looking back, it really was helping me. It sucks that my infection i recieved when I had revision surgery made me lose my band I am SO scared to get it again because what if this time my body can't handle it and I die? :/ I'm …

If you're deadset on believing that Lapband is perfect and can do no wrong and don't want to hear about complications, then move on to the next topic. Given what I've gone through, I think I'm obligated to say something. When I was first investigating whether I wanted to get this surgery for sure, I would have appreciated a lot more honesty and more stories about what HAS happened to people. I got my lapband in 2007. I followed all the rules and did what I was supposed to - so I'd appreciate not pointing fingers. It is a FLAWED mechanism. I would be shocked if this device never got recalled. I've had problems off and on over the years. Success and failure, both. Since …

After travelling to Oklahoma City to be filled for several years, I finally found a fill doctor here in Lawton, OK. His name is Dr. Sawyer and is located in the Comanche Memorial Hospital on the 3rd Floor in Outpatient Care. I paid $104.00 for a fill/office visit and my next fills will be between $50-$75 (all self pay). He does the fills right in his office and if needed, he will do the fills through floro. I started with Dr. Daniel Igwe here in Lawton about a year ago, however his fee of $300 per fill was too expensive and he charged that amount again to adjust a few days later. I never got the right adjustment but I did pay a whopping $1500 for 5 adjustments wit…

I've been banded for 10 months and down 60 lbs. I had one fill 4 months ago. I've noticed within the last month that I've really started to rely on sliders to get through the day. I try to eat chicken; pork; beef and countless others to get my Protein but no matter how much I chew, I get stuck. Out of fear I just stay away from those foods. Because I get hungry I reply on Soups, chips, ice cream, and tons of coffee. I don't know why this is happening all of a sudden but I'm wondering if I should get an unfill? As I type this, I am feeling light headed. I will probably run home and make a Protein shake for supper. (boring) What do you think I should do?

Here in NYC, the local PBS station is showing a documentary on Independent Lens called 'All of Me: A story of Love, loss, and Last Resorts'. it's about two longtime friends facing the impact of WLS on their lives. Unlike those 600 lb. life shows on TLC, this is PBS and likely not exploitive. I'm going to watch tonight. I just thought some of you might also be interested.

Well I had my 2nd fill yesterday, Starting out I was at 2cc on a 10cc band. Well yesterday I had my 2nd fill and she added 3cc more so a total of 5cc. And WOW! is that a change! Did my liquids all day yesterday. So today I had some Soup..and that went down good. Then a lil bit later I tried some chicken. That did not stay down Up it came. So..will I be able to eat solids again? And how long till I should try them? Just seems like its all just sitting right there. If I dont throw it up..It hurts like crazy;. The reason she put so much in on my second fill is cause I lost my insurance and now paying out of pocket for my fill (which is not cheap) And to keep me from having…
