Hello, I was looking for a way to track my WLS. I was going to use facebook but there is too much negativity found there.
I found BariatricPal by searching for support groups for Lap Band surgery. My doctor's office offers a support group twice a week but with my busy work and life it is difficult to make the meetings.
I have battled my weight my entire life. I am really short therefore when you see that I am 202 pounds, you may not think I have much weight to lose. I am very round for my height.
I have had two children, they are both teens, therefore I can no longer blame the weight on them. LOL
I am looking for support for this journey. I know that it is going to be difficult since I LOVE LOVE LOVE food. I am a major foodie. But I am hoping to find better ways of preparing food and eating in order to support my weight loss journey.
I will be having a hernia repair with band placement. My insurnace will coverage the cost of the hernia repair and I will be paying $2100 for the band placement. I initially consulted with True Results and they referred me to Fort Worth Lap Band. FWLB will do my surgery and then I will go to True Results for my one year of free fills (well not really free, they are included in the initial cost).
I have found that I have a lot of support from the team at Ft Worth Lap Band. I had my psych consult last week as well as my nutritional counseling. I had to have a sleep study, which was this past Friday. Now that was quite an exerience. They came to the home to do the study, I HATED it. They found mild sleep apnea but I am waiting for the official report.
I have my pre-op appointment tomorrow. I am scheduled for an EGD on 6/12/14. They will put me to sleep during this procedure and check to see if I have a hernia and view the esophogus and stomach. Then my surgery is scheduled for 6/23/14. I am very nerveous and excited at the same time.
I look forward to all of the information offered here in the forum and the ability to track my journey.
