I ran across this site the other day, theworldaccordingtoeggface.com , and thought I'd pass it along. The blogger had a RNY done a few years back and she shares her journey and her recipes...the recipes is what caught my eye! I have been printing things left and right from this woman. Anyway, last night I stumbled across this list of pureed foods/recipes lunch I made the ricotta bake and it was to die for!! Hopefully the variety will help pass the time during this stage!!

Hello! Am so excited to have my sleeve surgery on Tuesday September 20, 2011. I would love to hear from anyone with a date around mine. I would also be so grateful to a mentor to help me through this. I had two previous lap band revisions due to a slip and have since decided to have the band removed. I am afraid at failing yet another surgery, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

UGH!!!!!!!! I just don't get it........ I feel like my body is tired of losing. Now granted I do work out and I track my daily food intake. Not sure where my issue lies. I had a visit with my surgeon last week and according to their standards I have lost 65% EWL. Plus they are saying that my "Ideal" weight is 122.4 pounds. I believe my "Ideal" weight is 135 pounds. I have weighed that in the past. Like about 15 years ago. I felt wonderful at that weight. I think 122 pounds is too skinny for my frame. My exercise is zumba twice a week and I walk 2-3 miles twice a week and I incorperate kettlebell workout on the days I walk. I see inches coming off but the pounds are being …

  6. Hi October Buddies, I had my surgery Tuesday and was supposed to come home on Wednesday, but things did not go as planned. I had a large hiatal hernia that I knew had to be repaired at the same time but no one knew that when the doctors got inside they would find a lesion on my liver. When they were unable to take a small piece of it to biopsy, they cut out the entire thing. The lesion was benign - hooray! But in the process I apparently was left with internal bleeding. My blood pressure dropped very low and the blood count also went down, down, down. The day after surgery I was given two pints of blood and the blood count, while remaining low, did stabilize and I…

  7. Hi Everyone, This is my first post here and I am very excited and hoping to share with folks that may be having surgery on or close to the same day. My surgery is November 1, with Dr. Kozar in Reno, NV. My birthday is November 3 and I will be 46 years old. I am a mother to two wonderful kids and have a super husband who is very supportive. I start on Sunday my 2 week liquid diet. Not so much looking forward to this, it has been a long journey already dieting and have been on WW meals and Protein drinks for two weeks, I feel hungry. I long to have a full meal - this concerns me because I am hoping I will not feel this way after the surgery. I have been heavy way …

Hi Eveyone, I'm feeling pretty pathetic tonight. I've discovered that I can eat WAY more than I should. I've been inhaling about 1400 calories per day. The scale hasn't moved in about 8 days and I feel like giving up. I've been walking some in the evening but this is what always happens to me. I get really excited about a new diet, give it all I've got for about 2-3 months, then sink back into my old ways of eating and being lazy. I'm becoming afraid that the sleeve was just another diet for me. And I FEEL HUNGER. I'm not one of the lucky ones who does not feel hunger. I need some encouragement to get back on track. If I start eating the right things again (Protein fi…

Since this weight loss journey, I've had to deal with a lot of comments, mostly good. I am a pear shape and tend to lose weight first on top so I prepared myself to hear some negative comments (i heard those when i had lost weight before). I'm hearing things like: I need to eat something before i blow away, I don't need to lose anymore weight, i'm getting too skinny, I'm going to look like a bubblehead if i lose any more, etc. now mind you these are not from people that are significant to me. I'm 5'6 and started out at almost 250 and wear a size 20.. now I'm 182 and wear a size 14 on my bottom and 12 on top.. i'm trying to drop down to a size 10 bottom but would evaluate …

First, when I saw the photos of the surgery - I was very confused why I couldn't "see" the band in the before photos. You know, how in the drawings there is this nice white plastic device around the picture of the stomach? couldn't see it. It turns out that your body totally encases that band. I did not have band erosion, but there is still a "encrusted shell", for lack of a better term, around it. ewww. No wonder he band removal is a surgery that took some recovering from, they did a lot of digging around in there, it wasn't just like unbuckling the stomach belt... Second surprise is that now that I am 2 weeks out from the band removal... I am so hungry I feel lik…

Hello everyone, Ok, I have a really bad knee. So bad that I am a gimp. I limp all the time now. And I am on heavy duty pain meds for it. Also, I think I made it worse by some of the exercises I was doing. I'm stopping those exercises, but I am not stopping my exercise routine. I've found that I really enjoy it! In the mean time, I am icing it and using heat.....as it is really flaring up this week. Anyway, My hope is, once I get this weight off, that my knee will get better. And I am also hoping to stop the pain meds as well. Anyone out there go through this? Tell me your story please!!

I had the band removed in 2010. During the course of having the band slippage, the weight I lost was all muscle. I quickly turned into what someone on this forum referred to as a melted snowman. I lost my metabolism, what little I had, and quickly gained about 50 pounds after the removal. I got the sleeve in late June of this year. I have lost about 32 pounds pre-op weight and about 45 pounds since before the 2 week pre-op. I believe I'm losing slower than average and fear that my body is struggling more, I've heard the doctor talk to Biggest Loser contestants who had surgery and lost all their muscle & metabolism. My question is this... Has anyone else expe…

I had been having a really tough time since my surgery (Oct 19th) with nausea, grogginess, and dizziness. At my check up yesterday, the surgeon suggested getting off of the pain killer I had been prescribed (roxacet) and replace it with chewable tylenol. Wow! I feel like a new woman! The side effects from the narcotics were worse than the actual pain. So glad we did that change I start flying back home to the Yukon tomorrow. It has been a good 10 days with my out of country surgery experience here in Washington. I am looking forward to being back home with my children and the snow that is already on the ground. Well today is Friday, I just had my operation yesterday afternoon. Things are going good but I am really sore due to all of the gas in my stomach. I paced the halls here at the hospital last night and that has really helped. They just brought me my breakfast which consisted of jello, broth, and juice. I have already finished it all. The worst part of all of this has been not being able to gargle to wet my mouth. I will be going home on a few hours. Thanks to everyone on here who have read and replied to my earlier topics. Yalls advice has really helped.

Hi all, my name is Alex. I was sleeved on the 17th of October. My initial appointment weight in February was 355, and I went up to 372 a few months later; I managed to get down to 348 pre-op, and then put on 15 pounds while in the hospital due to IV fluids. Whew! My goal weight is probably going to be around 150 (I'm 5'6"), so I have a little over 200 pounds to lose. My first mini-goal is to get down to a size 26. I'm a little concerned because I haven't seen any signs of weight loss yet. My clothes are still fitting the same. I don't have a working scale to check. Then again I'm still very bloated and swollen so it's hard to tell from clothes alone. I was expe…

I had sleeve surgery March 28th, 2011. I have been doing great, down 88 pounds. I gained 2 pounds last week and already 1 this week. I feel like my stomach might have stretched. I am still eating small portions but feel hungry more often. What should I do to get weight loss and stomach shrinking again. This is really depressing me.

Well, add me to the sleeved family list!! I was sleeved Tuesday and was able to come home yesterday afternoon!! I'm really pleased to report that the pain has been very tolerable and I had none of the gas pains I've read about. I have to admit that Tuesday I really fought the urge to run out of the hospital kicking and screaming..I had such a case of 2nd thoughts and doubts but I'm so glad I went through with it. The first day and maybe even a little the second day I fought off thoughts questioning what I've done to myself but I know that in the long run, this is the best thing I could do for me and for my family. 35. Well. 11 months, 40 lbs, lots of apts, and angst, I AM A SLEEVER! Procedure went very well. Only complication was I had a reaction to the PCA morphine, and had dry heaves for about 12 hrs until they figured out what was going on. The post-op UGI was pretty rough- just couldn't keep the contrast medium down. I came home on day 3, and have been working to get the fluids in. Problem I am having is that I have a painful bubble of gas with each swallow, and it takes me a lot of time and discomfort to get a glass of water down. I am only getting about 20-30 oz a day including one protein shake. Does this settle down? My NP though I may have some swelling from the vomiting and t…

I am hoping to try some creamy Soup later today. I am in love with chicken broth; I am sure it is just the salt content that is making it taste so darn great! I am on a liquid Vitamin and oh man it is disgusting! But I choke it down followed by a bit of apple juice. What is everyone else sipping on?

  40. Now that I have my band out. I feel so great. I had started having probelms swallowing a few weeks ago because my band was pulling on my esophogus and now that is 100% gone. I just get so frustrated when I see all of these comercials about the band or I hear people saying they are getting lapband. I guess with the statistics I know at this point, it just seems so crazy that they are still being put into innocent people who have no clue of the pain they can cause or the long term damage. On the first day of my hospitalization, I even had a roommate who had a lapband. She must have freaked when she heard my doctor explaining all they had to do to get the broken piece…

I am now 2 months out and it doesn't happen as much, but if I eat certain foods or if I eat just a tad too much(which is still VERY little) I get a dull pain there. Has anyone else experienced this? However, I had quite the adverse reaction to coming out of the anesthesia. I was very nauseous afterwards and I couldn't not shake being groggy. I had a heck of a lot of pain in my sternum and back. The clinic I was at here in Washington state does it as day surgery, but I ended up having to stay the night since I couldn't keep anything down; I was on iv fluids all night and lots of pain medication. I had a lot of anti-nausea drugs prior to surgery, so it could have been a heck of a lot worse without them. I was able to come back to…
