Howdy...where are all the bikers gone? lol I bet you're all out riding!!! My name is Susan and I ride a Vulcan 900. I haven't done any riding this summer, though at 4 weeks post-op I feel like it wouldn't be an issue. Funny how the teenage sons don't think it's cool to ride with mom though...so everywhere we commute together, I have to take a car. WAAAHH Oh well, can't wait to feel "small" on my bike next Spring hahahaha Maybe it will even not feel like a spectacle riding behind hubby on his VN2000. Just checking in here...there have got to be more folks who ride!? See ya! Susan

Need some help and advice, I have 5 weeks post op. VGS. I have lost 31 pounds in the first three weeks after surgery. Most of that was probably water weight that I was loaded with in the hospital. But since then (last two weeks) I have not lost a single pound. It seems that I have hit a stall of sorts. Did anyone out there have the same experience? I may be a scale watcher. Help frustrated and worried. Thanks

So I am one step closer to the 13th!!! I was very surprised my Dr did not require a 2 week pre-op fast, only clears the day before. He said the pre-op 10 % wt loss requirement was enough. Also he does not require post-op B12. Does this sound strange to anyone? One last question. With the restricted volume and high Protein, is anyone eles having trouble getting in enough potassium? I saw a post about using Powerade zero which I have tried, but I retained so much Water fronm the sodium. What am I doing wrong?

Hi! My name is Amy. I live around the Olathe area. I am currently pre-op patient gathering all of the required materials for insurance submission. My doctor is Dr.Price at St.Luke's and so far I love the office staff, doctor, and program! I am 28 years old and am having this surgery so that I can have healthy babies one day and be a healthy mom. I am looking for some support from local people. If you are interested, come on in and say hello and introduce yourself. I look forward to supporting one another and sharing our experiences!

I had my surgery on 8/8. went home on 8/9. I went back to work Friday 8/12/11 for a half day. then back full time on Monday 8/15/11. pretty tired, but I walk the stairs at work each day to the 5th floor and walk with my husband or kids each night. when I got my staples out on the 16th. I had lost 14 pounds since 8/4. I have not weighted myself again, though. I removed all the scales from my house years ago. I suppose I will go buy one tonight. I have been tracking all my food and exercising using the my fitness pal app. it yells at me in red telling me I am eating to few calories..... I am averaging 250 a day. protien drinks make me so sick. I try to drink 2 or…

O.K. This may sound weird, but I am 2 weeks out and still on the full liquid diet. I don't think I'm urinating enough. I sip G2 and Crystal Lite all...day...long, but I have noticed that I am only urinating twice a day and when I do, it looks more like "apple juice" than "lemonade". I am a little worried. I don't feel sick or "dehydrated" so I wonder what could be wrong???

Hello, Everything I've read says that after surgery I'll have to sip, sip, sip ... Will I only have to sip like that in the beginning or will that be the way I drink from then on? If I have to sip for the rest of my life I know I'll get used to it but I was just curious. Thanks, Lisa

Hi all. well, yes, this is very off topic. I am set for lap band to VSG revision on Oct 15th and excited about it, but something funny has come up in the whole non-scale arena. Should I got for wedding cocktails a (sorta) former friend invited me to with less than a week and a half's notice? I assume she doesn't think I can go and that the invite was more of a courtesy. We haven't seen each other in years and she was part of a group of former friend that I no longer speak to. However, I would like to express to her that I appreciate her friendship (even if it's just acquaintanceship at this point) and honor the invite. This I assume would be a surprise to her and hope…

I have a hiatal hernia that was not fixed at the time of my sleeve that my doctor now thinks is causing reflux/pain problems. Don't know why he didn't fix it at the time of surgery, and said something about converting to a bypass but I do not want that. (I am only 6 weeks out as it is). I have always had GERD/gastritis that was well-controlled as long as I took Nexium daily. That all changed after the surgery, however. Two Nexium daily plus one zantac do not seem to control the problems. I do not have so much burning in my throat as I have a pressure sensation in my chest and my stomach always hurts, burning, gnawing, raw feeling. Hurts after I eat almost anything. …

I live in New Philadelphia, Ohio, amd 51 years old and I work in the medical professional. I hope someone on here will be able to mentor me through this because I know I am gunna need it. Thanks so much.

I wanted to start this to see where the August 2011 sleevers are right now and how you're doing. I was sleeved on the 15th of August and to date no pain and Im eating farely well(not much though yayyyyy!)I have lost about 25 pounds since surgery date, about 45 overall. I still get the stomach gurgles every so often when I do eat now but not like at the beginning. I can drink pretty good now and not having to really sip like before. I drink mainly crystal lite and sugar free sports drinks now. I am eating pretty much all proteins tuna, chicken, baked fish, etc. I dont get as hungry as I used to but its still there a little. One main difference now is I sleep all night and…

I go back to my doc on Oct 4th for the first time since surgery. I can eat crackers, toast w/PB, cruncy high protein snacks from Walgreens. But chicken, steak, fish are not always easy to eat. I saw on Dr OZ talk about taste. Say's bad fat will affect our taste buds & make them work less. By getting off of the bad fats our taste buds come back. I think this is what happened to us who have a greater taste since the surgery. We are eatting right & WOW! The taste on everything is strong. What do you think?

Hey everyone, I bought Syntrax Nectars before surgery and loved them, now I cant seem to tolerate them at all. I am going to be trying some new ones and wanted your opinions on what you all liked. I am not picky as far as chocolate, strawberry or vanilla. So dont be afraid to name your favourite.

I have had my band since 2001, and since the Fluid was removed several years ago, no real serious problems. (I had horrific reflux with any fill at all and some pouch dialation). Found out from the various pre surgery tests that my band has slipped so that baby needs to go before it becomes an emergency. I saw the surgeon a few days a go and feel MUCH better about the surgery. I am a nervous nellie about medical stuff and it gave me peace of mind. Doc thinks I have low level reflux even though I don't notice it anymore. Well, guess what, last night I woke up drowning in reflux. It felt like it went in my lungs - scared the crap out of me. I am looking forward to …

I just wanna say I am sorry upfront for needing to vent here and right now. I have to express myself some way, some how. Today I have reached my limit. WITH EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE!!! Here's a little back round info, my surgery is scheduled for July 11. That's just around the corner for me. Everything up to this point has been so hard for me. Normally I can walk away from things and deal with situations or make the best of things. My husband is currently going through training and will not be able to be here for me during the surgery. Which is fine, but I have a child that needs to be taken care of. Well I have asked my mom is help step up and be here for us. Which she…

I had my revision all in one surgery on July 14th. Did good the first ten days out, lost 15. Then the hunger set in. After reading on here about an acid blocker, I went back on the one sent home with me after surgery, didn't help. Moved on to nexium, nope no luck, am now on to OTC proposed, two pills, totally 40mg a day. Am still feeling the knowing feeling in my stomach. You know like how iy feels when you realize you've gone too long without eating.I have to stay under 1000 calories a day and still no weight loss, I can go for about a week before breaking down and just eating. That's the other problem too, I am feeling no restriction what so ever. This is my second was …

Maybe the author needs some updated information. She says it is "typically" done on super obese people who are too heavy for other surgeries with the intent on doing another surgery later. She says that meals must be kept to 1/2 cup forever after, and a few other things that just sounded like she didn't really have good information on it. What do you guys think? http://surgery.about...GWLSSurgery.htm

It seems that since I've been sleeved, any time I'm standing for a short period of time I become extremely overheated and begin to sweat profusely. I've always been quick to sweat, but this is ridiculous. It happens regardless of the actual temperature and it happens even though I'm not exerting myself. Just now it happened while I changed the ink in my printer. I had to go get a paper towel to mop my face and I sat down to cool down. I had an audition for a jazz band last week, and while I was standing there singing I began to drip with sweat. It was humiliating. I passed it off as nerves, and I got hired as the lead singer. Now I'm worried that I'll have to quit because…

I have another appt on next week, 9/29/11. I have to see the NP. He's going to basically see if I am progressing with losing the 20lbs required for surgery. I have been eating right (small breakfast, decent lunch, and a protein shake for dinner). My daily calorie intake is 1200 or less. I have lost a few inches (yay for my hips), and a few lbs. My next appt w/ the surgeon is 10/27/11, and hopefully, I will be 20+lbs lighter!

Hi guys, Sorry I've been MIA, but I'm trying so hard not to burst out in tears because I haven't lost weight in weeks! I consider myself a "veteran" going though two lap bands and now the sleeve. I know I'm doing all the right things and for the life of me I can't figure out why in the heck I'm not losing! I know it's common to have a stall a couple of weeks after surgery, but I'm 5.5 weeks out and haven't lost since 2.5 weeks! I've upped my water intake, am powerwalking 3-5 times a week, eating lean proteins..the whole 9 yards! I guess on the bright side I know I'm losing inches because I'm down a size and well...i *have* lost 22 pounds (5 lbs pre-op) and the best par…

Good Morning All Stars! It is finally raining here in Kansas! We needed it bad! As of this morning I came in at 178.2 for a 2.2lb loss this week. Been trying to up my calorie intake and fluid intake this week but sleevzilla does not always agree. Doing much better in the nausea and bathroom trips this week. The prilosec really helps in that department. Alot of foods still taste really weird to me so I have been getting my protein from liquids when I cannot tolerate regular food. Still trying to get my Celebrate Vitamins down. I loved the way they tasted before surgery but not so good after surgery. Weird huh? This morning I am drinking a protein coffee for breakfast. Th…

Hello, I had my band in 2004 and loved it, but in May of 2009 had puss (sorry gross, I know) coming out of my port site. I had a little zit that was draining and I pinched it and puss speawed everywhere. By the next day, you could see into my tummy as the hole was larger. Dr was going to remove port as he thought it was port infection. I didn't have $ for endoscopy, so decided to just have port removed. At a friends advice I checked myself into local hospital with Dr Sheih being their gastric Dr...he is so terrific. He admitted me and did endoscopy next day. Band was eroded and stomach was very infected and almost had covered entire band. Dr said if they had removed port,…

Went for my 1 week appointment today. Feeling yucky today so I was glad that I was going to see my surgeon. I ended up spening 6 hours @ the hospital. Bloodwork, 2 bags of fluid by IV, then the awesome (just kidding) barium!! CT scan shows no leak! Thank God!!!! I have a hematoma on the staple line! EEKS! So I am being watched like a hawk for possible high fevers, pain, etc. Kind of scary! Oh, I almost forgot, The doctor pulled my drain as well! That Sucked!!!!!! Hope everyone else is having a good day!

It seems that for the past 2 months my eating has become incrementally worse. I am craving carbs even worse than before and I would not have thought it possible. The first thing that I do when I get home is open the fridge and eat whatever is easiest. Then an hour later I prepare and eat dinner. About 3 nights a week I make my husband do a fast food run which is WAY more than we normally do that and it's costing us sooo much money. Last night I sent him for a slushy, an ice cream sandwich, a bag of gummy bears and gummy worms. I keep telling myself as I stuff my face "I won't be able to eat like this much longer." Sheeesh... I am at almost 300 lbs now and when I filled ou…

Friday morning, at 07:30 a guy is gonna assemble a team that will excommunicate a LARGE part of my stomach. Before noon, something is gonna be missing and not missed. I feel like this is a long time comin'. I am ready. I am excited. My brother said today that he's gonna have to "get used to me being skinny". I said "easy there, one day at a time. gimme a year or so before you do" Oh I had lamented over things like the crossover addictions and have (long ago) decided to seek therapy. At the same time I started the pre-approval regimine, I started to see a therapist to hash out underlying issues. Why I built a cocoon-like shelter around my body. Why was I fat to begin wi…

I had my band unfilled last week. For about 2 days I still had a bit of either restriction or worry (cant tell) when I was eating.. Now I have absolutely NO restriction and feel like I can eat anything in the house including the house!!! I feel like I have reverted back to old habits in a matter of 7 days and am so miserable!!!! My doctor said don't worry about it I wlll loose it pre op and post op definitely but Is it normal to be so hungry after getting the band unfilled?? Not only am I feeling hunger worse than before I am still eating smaller portions so I feel like I am eating more often.. Should I eat bigger portions less often??

Hi Everyone, I was sleeved exactly 3 weeks ago and I have been an emotional wreck this week. Dont get me wrong - I am glad, so glad I have the sleeve, but it is allowing me to understand certain things in my life. In my past, before the sleves, i hid behind emotional issues with food, and self sabotaged any time i was about to see serious weight loss success. I believe this happened to me again this week but it was tougher since I chose to reduce the size of my sleeve. i was overwhelmed with the thought of food and need to eat, that I got hawaiian scones, toasted them, but some nutella on them and ate them with tea. And i would take breaks and find reasons, within lik…
