Hey Guys! Has anybody had trouble with pain when swallowing...even when there is nothing to swallow? I have had trouble since last Sunday. The only think I can think that happened was that I over ate some chicken and rice on Saturday night. I was too full, but didn't throw it up...guess I should have...anyway, I went to bed full and woke with pain when I swallow. I called my dr on Tuesday and he told me to do liquids and to take the anti-spasm medicine that he had sent home with me after surgery. Today is Thursday and I am still unable to eat or drink without pain. I am really frightened that I really messed up. Please weigh in and let me know if anybody …

I have been a big girl my entire life. I dont know how it feels to be fit, and finally fit in. my weight has made me very self consious and has affected my life. I am 20 years old I feel this is the time I should be enjoying life, but so far I havent. Im tired of going to the nightclub and being that girl holding purses, I want to be the center of attention! I want to be that girl that guys check out when I enter. Not only has my weight been affecting my social life but also my love life. I get really jealous when my boyfriend adds thin girls on facebook. when I show my boyfriend to someone they say "oh his hot...well u have a cute face" what does that …

A friend of mine (who is very much against my decision to het VSG) told me she considers my surgery "elective". Up there with plastics she said. She thinks it's only good for people who are on their last chance, can't move and are close to death, not me. My starting bmi was 43, I have lost my 10%. She thinks because I was able to lose my 10%, I should be fine. I really took offense to this and it has been lingering in my mind ever since. I just want to see how others might take it. I think sometimes I can be too sensitive.

Next week I go back to work so that means back in the car and away I go! I travel 1-2 nights each week. Then the latter part of the week I travel closer to home and can come home at night. I average 800 or so miles a week. The hotel I stay at has a micro and fridge so I will bring along my small food processor and can go to grocery store. Bring protein shakes etc...just nervous about adjusting to life on the road with my brand new tummy.

I'm 7 days post op! Yay! Feeling great! Everything went great! I have posted on the Post-op Forum but just want to check in here too. I did really well with the surgery and I couldn't ask for a better Surgeon and Hospital to have my surgery done with. Dr. Mason at the Physicians Center in Bryan, TEXAS I'm looking forward to the great things I have coming my way! 5 lbs away from being under 200 and that feels great already! I hope everyone else is having the same great results I'm having. This has truly been a wonderful blessing for me! So I will check on everyone as their day gets here and GOOD LUCK to everyone!

Has anyone tried Lipotropic injections to work with the sleeve to help get to goal faster? I was thinking it would help my body process the fat cells faster and maybe boost my energy level some. However, I don't want to do it if in the end it does not work or harms your body. I am doing research now on the side effects and would like some input from the group. Thank You!

Good morning all, just a quick question. Are there any sleevers here, (other then my buddy Tiffy, how is sprout?) who have been out now 2-3 years? How's it going with ya'll now? anyone gained back a bunch of weight? anyone have complications like strictures or anything like a closure due to scar tissue and needing a stent to reopen the "stomach"? Brittle bones and breakages? Just questions, but very valid ones. Hope to hear from someone soon!

2 weeks ago my surgeon, pcp and I decided to remove my band and get the sleeve in November. NEVER having any complications from the band rather because my auto immune disease is getting worse. Since that time, I have had COMPLETE restriction, some sliming, vomited once and cannot eat more than about 6 oz without feeling full. Of course 3 hours later I am hungry again and I still have the late night/middle of the night fill up etc... I have NOT had any problems with my band NEVER- but it is almost as if my body is saying no- wait- give me another chance..... I know this sounds stupid but I cannot think of any other reason.... I HAVE to proceed- leaving it in is not an o…

Hi Nor-Cal group.Lil Mis Deva, thanks for putting this together. I have been waiting to see if I was "accepted", and just today saw I was a member. I am not too familiar with posting, I do not blog or tweet or have a facebook. Guess just old fashioned or maybe because of all the negative press about social media, still just a little shy. I do want to share my story and I look to you all who have experience and can share with me as I begin my jouney to weight loss and beyond. I am a 45 year old mom of two with a loving and supportive husband. I live near the Oregon border now in a very small town about 3 hours from Redding,CA - I have an ex that I want nothing to do…

We had a mini family reunion this weekend, me, my wife, my sister, her hubby, her two kids and her 11 grandkids as well as my brother and his 2 kids all met at a local hotel that had a wonderful indoor pool in an atrium - man that made it nice especially in the 100+ degree heat we've been having. I was the only thin male adult there, my 13 and 15 year old nephews actually outweighed me! I can see it's going to be tough hanging around them though, I started grazing / snacking on the stuff they brought with them, Cookies, fruit Snacks, chips - you name it - and GAINED 1.5 pounds! I'm obese again after just dropping below a BMI of 30! Man this sucks! I love them al…

My name is Eddie. I'm 47 years old from Jacksonville, FL. I had unsucessful Lap-Band four years ago. My husband, however, is the poster child for Lap-Band, having lost all his weight in nine months and keeping it off for four plus years. Anyway, a year ago I had three strokes due to a vertebral artery dissection. Since then, I have gained an additional 50 pounds above what my Band allowed me to regain. I now tip the scales at a whopping 307 pounds, my highest weight ever. My primary care physician, endocrinologist, neurologist and surgeon are all on board with a revision of my band to either RNY or VSG. The reason I joined this forum is because I am strongly leaning towa…

The first couple days were rough, more emotionally than physically. Things seem to be getting easier every day Anyhow, just wanted to say hi. I'm very grateful to have found this place

Has anyone who has flown recently been to the pepsi coliseum? Are the seat sizes at the coliseum smaller, same or bigger than plane seats? I know SWA has 17 1/4 in width seats but I didn't have a measuring tape with me yesterday and I can't find the seat dimensions online. If plane seats are the same or smaller than the pepsi coliseum I now know I need to buy 2 seats. If the plane seats are even 1/2-1 inch bigger I can make it work (albeit uncomfortably). I can force myself into the pepsi coliseum seats but its rather painful. I ended up moving and sitting on the stairs. I did find someone online on another forum about the coliseum saying that they are about avg size and …

I am just about a year out (on the 12th of August I think). I had posted on a couple of threads that lately I had gained 5 pounds and that I felt like I was able to eat WAYYY too much. I was planning a trip down to TJ to visit my doctor and get a contrast xray of my sleeve in a week or two. About 3 months ago I started experiencing some really bad nerve pains in my left arm, one day I woke up with my arm spasming from shoulder to wrist and it turns out I had a herniated disc in my c-spine. The doctor prescribed vicodin for the pain and ibuprofen for the inflamation. It took about 2 months for the arm to feel well enough that tylenol and the ibuprofen alone handled the…

Returned home this afternoon. My story, thus far - hoping it helps... Thu-4-Aug: Checked-in to the hospital in the evening. Some bloodwork, to ensure my numbers are in control. Antibiotic allergy test. Anti-coagulant injection. Full meal at 10pm. Fri-5-Aug: Surgery day! Had to wait in pre-op for an hour (this is a HUGE hospital!), nearly toppled the OT table getting on , woke up in post-op, with a bit of gas pain, pushing up into the chest. Doc told me they had to push up my liver to pull out the stomach, so I would have bruised my lungs / diaphragm a bit. The pain medication worked quickly, and I was comfortable within 1-2 hours. Six incisions - guessing two were to…

I began having issues with my gallbladder shortly after the birth of my daughter in 2005. In 2009, an ultrasound and HIDA scan revealed I needed it removed and my PCP gave me a referral to general surgery. I let the referral expire after 30 days because I "felt" better and basically chickened out. So, I had my sleeve surgery on 10/26/10, just over a year later. I asked my surgeon to please remove the GB at the same time and he refused, saying there is no proof that I would ever need it taken out and he is not one to perform unnecessary procedures. My understanding of the GB is that once it has stones and is not functioning property if at all, it will NOT get better. …

Surgery was Tuesday Aug. 2nd. Time was scheduled for 9:00. Had to be at hospital around 7:30 where bloodwork, IV was started, and consultation with sleep doctor lol. Said once they wheeled you in operating room they would give me something to relax in IV and then move me over to operating table. I really don't remember even moving over. I remember waking up and a nurse saying, hello, how are you feeling. I was feeling fine except for my mouth and around my mouth had a tingling sensation and a numbness. They asked if I needed anything for pain and I said no, I was fine. I have a slight reaction to metal and apparently the mask used had some type of metal aroun…

Hey to all the AA's! Day 3 was good to me until I jumped up and went running errands. I went to drop some shoes off to my sister and to get to her apmt its a steep set of stairs. I walked up pretty fast, passed her the shoes and came back down. Then I went to kroger, instead of me just getting what i needed and leaving I thought this will be my walk for the day. When I got in the car I felt some discomfort, figured I just needed to rest. I took a nap and woke up the same if not worse off. I took some pain meds waiting for it to kick in. The abdominal area pain/tenderness I expect. however this pain when I swallow is odd, not so much a pain but odd discomfort. it…

My husband and I decided a long time ago that for our health and happiness, we would both undergo weight loss surgery. My husband was going to go through our insurance, and I would be self-pay because my BMI was too low for insurance to cover the cost. My husband embarked on a 6 month monitored and documented eating plan with our PCP to satisfy our insurance and I researched doctors and the type of surgery that I would want. In June, I had VSG surgery with Dr. Ortiz of OCC in Mexico. A couple of weeks later, my husband completed his 6 month supervised diet and was ready to get going with our insurance company. This is where the trouble started. I've been on a leave of …

So I went to my general practitioner doctor today for bloodwork and I told her that I was having weight loss surgery. And she said "you're having the bypass?" so I said no and she said "oh so the lap band" and I said no I'm having the sleeve. And she said "the what". So I explained to her what it was and she never heard of it. I realize she is just a general practitioner but I was surprised and I'm not sure how I feel now. Lol. But I'm seeing her again in a few weeks for a physical so I think I will print out some information about it and bring it with me just so she can see what it is. Is that weird or is this surgery so new that not everyone knows about it. It seems…

I just wanted to let everyone know there is hope if you're in a stall. I am only about 6 weeks out so I'm early but I did suffer through an almost 3 week stall. Which means the majority of my weight loss thus far has been from pre-op diet and first 3 weeks after surgery. I was losing 1 lb a day and then I lost NOTHING for 3 straight weeks. It was driving me insane b/c I am not getting to eat my favorite foods, when I do eat it's a few bites and yet no movement on the scale at all. Very frustrating and depressing. I'm walking and I'm following the rules. Then every morning...nothing. In fact I even went up 2 lbs and then down and then up and then down. The same 2 …

Hi Everyone! I had my sleeve on Monday and so far all is going good. I was released from the hospital on Tuesday after passing a swallow test and taking/keeping fluids down. The first night i was home, i got in the bed for about 3 hours. I decided i did not like it as much as i thought i would and moved to the couch. I felt much better on the couch and it was very easy to get up and down from here. It is strange when you start drinking again. Sips are micro sips you will learn quickly - it is true, gas X stips are your best friend and as soon as you think you have this mastered, you get to day 3 and it ALL is just got so much better! I'm not sure if swelling w…
