So many what-ifs. I am worried that post surgery, my wife and I will no longer be. Does anyone else you know have or have had this feeling? I honestly believe that my wife prefer me to be XXXXXL so nobody else will even look at me. She supports me to my face but I have heard her talk to her friends about me not needing it. But yet it's perfectly ok for her to get the Sleeve. Does that seem fair? Not to me. I tried talking with her but she is so far unresponsive. What am I to do?

Hi everyone! I have finally made it to the last 30 pounds of my journey, I have struggled a little this month. I have been on summer break (I am a teacher) and I just haven't been as motivated. Carbs have been sneaking in and working out has decreased. I honeslty have just been living life and having a great time with my kids. Thus, I only had a four pound loss for July. I am ready to kick it up though! I really want to be at goal by my surgiversary on December 27. I am committing to logging my calories again and working out daily. I am responsible for my success. I WILL do this!!!!

My name is Sharon. I will be 55 this Christmas. My highest weight ever (last year in September) was around 263. I was 253 when I scheduled my surgery with Dr. Nick and 241 when I had surgery. I am 168-170 now. My goal weight (I think) is 135 - but I may decide to stop at 140 - depends on how I look and feel and at what weight I can maintain without living in the gym 6 days a week. I have been waiting to start participating in this forum until I got this close to goal. I need a push to persevere the rest of the way. So I have lost approximatly 83-85 pounds in 6 1/2 months (including the 2 week preop). I started out in 24W's and had just moved into 3X tops. A guys 2XL T s…

Hello All, So I just joined the site today. I kept coming across it while I was binging about slow weight loss and the gastric sleeve. I tend to keep comparing myself to my mom who had the gastric bypass surgery and lost her weight seemingly faster. The scale plays tricks on me. I try to weigh myself once a week, using the same scale, and one week I'll "gain" a pound and then the next I'll lose 5. After the first month, I've been losing about 10lbs a month steadily. I'm 3 months out exactly right now. Seeing that other people are dealing with these issues and it's not me who's screwing up makes me feel a whole lot better. I'm hoping that my the new year I will be under…

Hey all, I'm Tif from South Jersey. I was sleeved lst Wednesday, July 20, 2011. From the day I came home from the hospital I was miserable and there was alot of tears and alot of regrets. I kept saying what have I done to myself?! I am still in considerable pain even 5 days later. I am getting married in October and am upset because I feel like Ive ruined my wedding experience because I may not be able to have champagne or even a bite of my own wedding cake. People keep saying that it'll get better with time and I hope that once the pain is gone and i can eat solid foods again, the regret will be gone. Does it really get better and when???? any advice?

Hi everyone, I am back at home! My hemoglobin dropped for some reason and they had to do a redraw to make sure it had gotten up. Said I was the best patient ever, the 1st to walk around within 3 hours of surgery and not complain for pain. I just had a pop cicle and looking forward to clerk liquids. Feels like I have gas in my back.. I will take a few more of the Gas-X strips.

As of today I'm down to 215 pounds from 375 - 160 pounds lost. When I started out I was asked to select a goal weight and chose 180 pounds, according to the BMI charts right in the middle for a 6' male, the range was between 160 and 190. I am starting to look gaunt, size LARGE shirts are fitting loosely and my size 36 pants are baggy. I can't picture losing another 35 pounds. I have been VERY fortunate up till now and my skin has pretty much snapped back, although I've noticed in the last few weeks I am really starting to sag and pucker all over the place. I just got a new security badge for work and was actually startled by the picture on it, I look thin and fr…

Hello All- First of all, let me say I am so happy to be here! I previously belonged to the lap band forum. Oddly, at first I felt like I was cheating on them. LOL. Anyway, I am so glad that I did start on the lap band forum since I was intially considering LapBand. However, all of their very candid entries led me to believe that the Band was not for me, especially after seeing how many banders had already or were in the process of revision to sleeve. So, their honesty was a blessing since it gave me a very accurate picture of what I DON'T want. I know this journey will by no means be easy, but I am ready to do the work and can't wait for this change! My surgery is sch…

I'm not hungry but I must eat. I've been lightheaded, dizzy, and unable to stuff anything in my mouth lately. I used to LOVE steak, LOVE IT TO PIECES. Now I think it looks like, well, muscle on a plate. Gross. Desserts, something I used to freaking love, are a no go too. I am grateful to not desire and not overindulge in things but I really miss going on yelp, checking out new food spots, food and wine parings, and trying new cuisine. I can't do that anymore. Its just pointless. So I miss brunch with all you can drink Mimosas, I miss bread and butter, an entree and a creme' brulee because I'm treating myself. I'll be over it. What was anyone else's fo…

Hi all, I am 5 months out and have lost 88lbs which is AWESOME. The whole time though I have been constipated, trying EVERYTHING just to be able to "go" every other day or so but nothing has worked. So I have been using laxatives every weekend to "clean myself out" as I work Monday thru Friday and can''t take them during the week.So unfortunately I can go like 6 days without a BM which is not good. An issue I'm having is the past few weeks, I am not losing like I was the first 5 months and I'm going out of my mind! Example: I weigh myself in the morning when I get up and say my weight is 177.4lb.s. OKay, fine. So I eat a 6oz. yogurt and a few mini rice cakes. And …

So, September sleevers this is my current prep step. I have been stocking up on Wonton broth (freezing for post op), protein shake samples, "Better than Boullion" base flavors, and this weekend I am planning to cook several different soups/broths to start my freezer stock for post op.. Other items on my grocery list this week include SF jello and popsicles. Gotta start somewhere? What are y'all doing to prep that pantry/fridge/refrigerator? 30 days!

Well, I had a goal to be at 187 by August 19th. That is my wedding anniversary and that would have put me losing 100 pounds in a year. I am going to be 5 1/2 pounds short. I am really frustrated. I try to tell myself to look at my overall weight loss. It is really amazing.I have lost 94.4 pounds in year, 52 pounds in the 4 months since my surgery. I am thinking that I'm not going to make myself short-term goals anymore. This was the first time I actually set a specific number in a specific period of time, and I think I get too hung up on the numbers when I do that??? I know that I have done a few little things to sabatoge myself lately too. I had completely quit drinking…

So, I just broke down and cried. I don't even really know exactly why. I slept really late today and so was weak when I got up for lunch. I ate lunch with hubby and was feeling weak and after I ate felt a little sick and decided to lay down. Texting hubby to wake me up after an hour.....he asked what happened....I thought you felt good at lunch and I just broke down. I don't know what is wrong. I'm not hungry....a little tired and a little woozy headed..but not hungry. I guess I'm having a little buyers remorse. Don't know if it is me or just hubby not understanding what I'm going through...but I just don't feel very emotionally strong right this minute. :,/

Someone mentioned in one of the June sleevers thread that they would like to see a master list of everyone who was sleeved in June. I'm bored, so I decided to tackle that project. Please let me know if you need to be added to the list, removed from the list, or if your date is wrong. I've based this info off of only a few threads and I'm sure it's incomplete. I'll update the information as needed. My hope is that this will make it easier to connect with your sleeve brothers and sleeve sisters to compare progress, make new friends, and swap recipes, gripes, and successes. ***JEWELS OF JUNE*** JUNE 1 nraeh prairiedawn soon to be skinny kwikwits Good Goose Da…

I know surgery and recovery are rough! So I thought it would be fun if we shared any funny moments we had during surgery. So I will go first. I had problems with a low heart rate after I was moved into my room. It got worse as day turned into night and my husband and I were trying to sleep. The alarm was set to go off at 45 or less beats per minute. Each time I started to drift off....beep!...beep!...beep! went the alarm and woke both of us up. Well pretty soon I felt sorry for my hubby cuz he was exhausted so I started watching the alarm. Each time it would tick down close to 45 I would start doing arm excercises to increase my heart rate! So here we are in a dark r…

So I went for my Nutrutionist evaluation and when she walked in the room I was a bit taken aback. This may sound rude, and judgmental, but she was very obese. Even more obese than I am. As an obese person, I am the last one to judge anybody on their weight, however, how can I take advice about how and what I should eat from someone who obviously doesn't follow those same rules. I only needed the pre-op eval from her and although I did plan on going back after surgery, I don't feel like i could now. I feel like I might find another nutritionist to help me after. Am I being silly or would you feel the same way?

Hi my Names Jim Boston I'm from Fort Smith and I was sleeved June 29, 2011 by Dr, Travis Goodnight @ Summit Medical Center In Van Buren, Arkansas. He was great! it was by far the Easiest surgery I have ever had. I was back at work in 5 days.... I have had very little problem mostly the psycological issues, learing curve. My brain was telling me to go look in the fridge, and to eat faster. I just had to learn to turn that stuff off... and it has gone pretty well so far... I am currently about 357.5lbs preop weight was 387lbs down from a high weight of 474lbs in December of 2009

Hi All, I am 4 months out and have exactly 20 pounds to go before goal. I can say that, up until now, it has been pretty easy. I was eating as much as I could to get in the Protein and my restriction has kept me in check. Now I have hit my first stall and it isn't a secret as to why. Three things have happened in the last couple of weeks: 1) eating has gotten more comfortable. 2) boredom eating has returned. 3) I was prescribed one-time medication that kept me from going to the bathroom (you know what I mean) for 7 days. So let me address them one by one... 1) eating has gotten more comfortable. I knew it would happen sooner or later. What used to take 20 min…

Ok, so I want to thank Lil Miss Diva A; For starting this group and being uber encouraging, and B: For giving me the idea for this thread! I have been struggling a LOT recently, but I think that old habbits die hard, and have I really been honest with myself? Have I been as good as I could? Or have I been expecting my sleeve to do all the work alone? So today has been an ok day, and is day 1 of "the final Count down". I have a holiday booked at the end of August, and I would like to be "normal weight" by then, so that is 11 weeks to lose 19 of my remaining 30lb. So here are my confessions; I have started to snack on sweet stuff recently (oh how those nibbl…

I went on vacation to the mountains and hiked up mountain trails 3-6 miles each day for 6 days. I drank the right amount of water, took my vitamins, ate between 600-800 calories, stayed low carb and around 72-90 grams of protein. When I got home - THE SCALE HAD NOT MOVED. That was the most exercise of my life and NOTHING happened. Just disappointed - needed somewhere to vent!

I was sleeved on 3/7/2011. My first two weeks the weight melted like butter. Lost 20 pounds. Need to lose a total of 115 pounds. Now I have since returned to work. (3/21/2011) I walk 45 minutes a day, my job is a desk job. UGH! I have lost 2 pounds since returning to work. I also have started light resistance training every other day. Nothing strenous. I do get my fluids in and do get my Protein in. Would this be considered normal or am I doing something wrong. I manage to get in at least 450 - 500 calories carbs are close to 20 a day. I'm limited on food as I'm on the full liquid diet until April 7. From there I can begin fish, chicken. Will that make a difference on the…

I've confirmed a surgery date of 10/3/2011 with Dr. Aceves for my revision. I know that's still a couple of months out, but if there is anybody else going that week, let me know. Even though I've been considering a revision for three months now, it all feels rather sudden. My band has been completely unfilled (sprung a leak) since May 2011. I've had a CT scan (no erosion) and an upper Endoscopy (slight erosion of my esophagus due to reflux) in an effort to get my revision approved by Insurance (HealthNet.) But no luck. Although HealthNet covers revisions, the Medical Group I belong to does not! Grrrrrrr. I've scheduled two weeks off work for recovery. I've neve…

I'm on the pre-op diet. Monday night, my mother-in-law brought her leftover pizza to my house. I didn't know until Tuesday when I opened my fridge and ended up with a big whiff of it. I made my kids eat it. Tuesday, my mother-in-law brought over cucumber salad made with vinegar and another made with sour cream. Wednesday she was out of town. Thursday, she brought fudge. (Mackinac Island fudge). She didn't just hand over the box. She opened the box and cut it all up and put it on a plate. She's at my house. I was at the table eating my salad with chicken in it. I don't like fudge, so I wasn't tempted. The cucumber thing, she does do every year when she gets a …

Hi, I am at 7 months out and am dealing with food issues - "head hunger" ... I feel like I am in a rut with my food choices and would like input or advise from others. I keep my calories between 1000 - 1200 and carbs under 45.... Lunch: 1/4 cup fat free cottage cheese and 1/4 cup of either chunk chicken or imitation seafood. afternoon snack - beef jerkey or protien bar evening dinner is either a salad or 1/2 cup of chicken/turkey/seafood. I had my surgery Aug. 9 and was discharged Wed evening. My body is REALLY irritating me these past 2-3 weeks. I normally lose a pound every 2 days ,even a pound a day for a few days a week. Lately though it is staying the same for a good 3,4,5 days at a time and I haven't changed anything obvious I can think of. I eat probably around 600 calories a day, walk 2 miles daily (after an 8 hour active job), I know I haven't been getting enough water or ALL the protein daily for the last 3 months.(I would check my food journal but my daughter lost my notebook with the last 4.5 MONTHS of stats in it!). I've lost 88lbs in 5 months since my sleeve, while I am stoked about the weight loss, I am floundering with the daily aspects of …
