Bikram Yoga after surgery
@Getinmybelly The meds/supplements haven't made any difference in my practice, well not that I know of. My first class back was pretty rough, I was nauseous, dizzy and tired, but that's b/c I didn't prepare well. I know now that I need to eat something before class, drink twice as much water, and sit out when I need to. With Bikram the more you go the better you feel. My first class (a year ago today) was pretty rough, but I came right back. Bikram has put me in touch with my body, increased my flexibility, and helped me release stress. I can't believe it's become a normal part of my exercise routine and how quickly I was hooked on it after my first class. I'd say give it another shot, drink plenty of water, and get in your protein prior to class.

Bikram Yoga after surgery
Hi all FYI. I'm back to doing Bikram after surgery. My first class back was pretty rough, but I'm sure it was b/c I went on an empty stomach. Now I make sure to have a piece of cheese, fruit, or almonds before class. It's just enough to get me through the class. I was concerned about being able to drink Water during class, but so far so good. Any other yogis out there?

August 2011 sleevers get in here!!!!!!
Hi there. I was sleeved August 31st and so far I've lost 29lbs. Right now I'm experiencing my first stall, but the great thing is thanks to this forum I'm prepared. I started excersing again on Sunday and my body feels pretty good. My goal is to workout 5 days a week, cardio, weights, and Bikram Yoga. As far as food goes, I'm probably not doing the best. I'm finding it hard to get in the required protein while on the mushy diet. My menu currently consists of greek yogurt, cheese, soup, mashed potatoes, broccoli, peaches, oatmeal, grits, beans and boost protein shakes. I've been a tad frustrated with the mushies because they seem to go right through and the hungry comes raging back. I go back to the doc on Monday and I should be able to advance my diet, and I'm hoping I'll do a better job at meeting my protein goal.

How do the All Stars want to proceed from here?
Sounds like a great idea! I'd like to stay in touch. It's nice to see updates from folks who had surgery around the same time.

my story... my emotions
Hi there. I'm 26 and I was also sleeved on the 31st. Yesterday I doubted my decision a little, but I had to tell myself what's done is done. The only pain I'm having right now is from the drain; it's about time for this thing to come out. Right now I'm trying to determine if what I'm feeling in my stomach are hunger pains or my stomach settling. I read under another post that hunger pains could be acid & Prilosec can help with that. So starting today I will take the Prilosec my doc prescribed. I'm looking at this change as a day by process with hills & valleys. I've made up my mind that I will succeed and change my attitude about food. It won't be easy, but I plan to tap into my supports systems. So think of the liquid phase as just that, another phase. You won't be tied down to liquids forever. It will pass! Good Luck! Luck! I've found great inspiration on this board.

Bringing up the rear
Hi all- I'm the last of the August Sleevers and I made it home Friday. I stayed an extra night in the hospital b/c I was running a fever. I will say these last few days have been a bit of a challenge. The gas was really getting to me while I was in the hospital. I walked constantly hoping to get rid of it before I went home, but that didn't happen. Yesterday I finally got some relief from the gas, but then my cycle appeared 8 days early. Since I can remember I've had horrible cramps, so on top of having a testy stomach from the surgery I was also dealing with menstrual cramps. Ick. I feel much better today and I can't wait for Tuesday so I can get this drain out! It's starting to hurt and I still can't bend down. I'm getting my liquids in ok, but I'm having a hard time digesting all the milk the doc wants. My surgeon requires that we add non fat dry milk to our Soups and yogurt. When I'm on my cycle I stay away from dairy products b/c it causes my stomach to rumble. I'm walking, sleeping, and resting. Ready for the next chapter. I've weighed myself and it shows a big loss but I know that won't be typical.

Pre-op Diet is a killer
Hi there. I'm on day 6 of my pre-op diet and it isn't' fun, but its gotten easier. After the 3rd day my body adjusted and my stomach isn't growlig as much and I'm not as tired. The one thing that has helped is chewing sugar free gums. Keeps my mind off of food and gives me somethig to chew. Hope things get better for you!

A little disappointed with myself...
When I first told my friend I was having WLS I told him that I had no plans to keep it a secret, if someone asks, I will tell them. We talked about how it's likely that I will get some negative responses and he suggested I give everyone the same response when they ask about my weight loss. I thought it was silly but the more I read about everyone's experience the more I think it's a good idea. Create something you're comfortable with and you won't waver on. It's less likely that your subconscious will take over. Hope this helps!

Pre Op Diet
Hi all- I started my pre op diet yesterday and things went pretty well. I was a little tired and ended up going to bed earlier than normal. I'm curious, how much weight did you lose on your pre op diet? My surgeon's diet is two weeks, a shake for Breakfast, shake for lunch, yogurt/fruit/veggies for a snack, and a small dinner. I must admit I'm quite hungry and even dreamed about fried chicken and mac & cheese last night. I found that quite funny because the last time I had a piece of chicken was 7 years ago!

All-Stars Preo-op diet thread
Started my pre-op diet today, and so far so good. My surgeon's diet consists of, shake for bkfast, shake for lunch, fruit & yogurt for snack, dinner consisting of 3oz of lean meat and veggies. I must say I'm quite hungry, but I keep telling myself I only have 13 more days.
