  1. I had my surgery Aug. 9 and was discharged Wed evening. I had done my homework, bought the right liquid foods & Vitamins.....but NOBODY told me how painful a repaired hernia would be on top of sleeve recovery. There are times when I try to sip Water (yea, just water) or even take a deep breath and CLINCH, my chest feels like it is in a death grip. Then there have been nights when the gas pain in both stomach and lower intestines was unbearable. It hurt to cry....I think I had good prep on how life will be.....but not for the first week or so after surgery. Anyone have tips to relieve pain? I use a heating pad, Gas X chewables, Chamomille tea.... P.S. Stay away from the little laughing cow cheese.....who knew 1 small wedge of soft cheese could create a 24 hr. torture? He got the last laugh on that one.
  2. I have a simple way to add variety to broth as I am in my first week POST OP. I heat chicken broth, but then add a tsp. of tomato pesto or satay to flavor it up. Makes me feel like I am having a gourmet meal. I am gonna stroll the spice/sauce section to see what else I can find. Hope it helps.
  3. Thanks for all of the advice. I did call my nutritionist who said that , yes one SHOULD adhere to the plan strickly...but that non-starchy vegetables shouldn't be a problem. She also said that after day 2 or 3 of liquids, your body adjusts to less food and the excess hunger should go away. Hope this can help others out there too!
  4. I think it is LOW all around. I didn't think I'd even be able to stick to it. Hopefully we will continue to get prepared! Aspiring evangelist? HOw are you working to reach that goal?
  5. Thanks! Who would ever have thought that veggies might be considered cheating?!
  6. I am in day 2 of my Opti-fast liquid diet. I have 5 more days of this. By dinner time, I am really hungry and have been adding some frozen veggies into the Soup. Is there any danger in doing it? I thought they wanted us to los weight...and it seems that the veggies won't hurt. I will make sure to be totally liquids 2 days prior to my Aug. 9th surgery. Anyone else have any "safe" cheating tips?
  7. I start my pre-op diet on Tuesday morning and go for 1 week. I too am grateful for the shorter time, but NOT looking forward to it. How do you create the weight loss ticker?
  8. As part of preparing for my sleeve surgery, I decided to join this to get some support. I've been fairly calm until now...surgery is Aug. 9th. Getting nervous....can I really live without carbs? I've heard you can lose your sugar cravings....but what about carbs? What is it really like the first few days afterwards??????
