Personally, I like to give at LEAST a month's notice.

A month ahead would be the week of my already paid family vacation. I'm afraid if I notify earlier they will say to cancel my vacation... Think I'm going said it's a emergency surgery and it's personal. Hope I don't lose my job :-( just got a promotion..

I'd be fine if someone on my team gave a shorter notice as long as they are caught up on their work, we are not in the middle of something critical like the audit, and they are sure their backup is available to cover.

We just finished our audit... Our year end not untill October and I'll be back before month end. My manager seems understanding hopefully won't be a problem!

Good luck. I'm fitting my sleeve in just before I need to start prep for audit in Oct.

I actually gave my boss a heads up and I don't even have a date yet, just a time frame. She needs as much notice as possible.
