Would like to hear from any other motorcycle riders, pre or post op. My VSG surgery is scheduled for Oct 21. I will be sad to be off the bike for any length of time, but I will be sure to watch the races (MotoGP) while at home!

I got home just a few hours ago and took a nap. I am feeling OK...just a little uneasy. Can't really complain about much...just an uneasy feeling...don't know what to do with myself. Having a little trouble getting my fluids down....just really don't want anything. I don't want to get dehydrated though either. I'll up date you all more later. I think I'm going to take my uneasy back to bed!

I am still trying to get scheduled on the band removal, but i just got word my insurance approved the sleeve! woo hoo!

Hello everybody! I just registered on this site this morning, although I have been lingering around, reading posts for a few months now. I had a bit of trouble with BCBS, but finally got my sleeve approved and my date is August 23rd. I am so excited! Good luck to all of you other August sleevers!

Wishing everyone here the best of luck with surgery and recovery. Please let us know when you feel up to it how things are going. I can say that today (day 3 postop) is alot easier to swallow liquids than yesterday. Still uncomfortable but better. Also got my 30min of walking in yesterday and 15 today. working on my Isopure now.

I'm so excited!!!!!! Tomorrow is the day for my life to begin again!!! I have already lost 20 lbs as of this morning from the pre-op diet and liquid diet. It is amazing how much a difference 20 lbs makes. My clothes fit better. It's easier to walk and I even played BASKETBALL with the kids last night! Glad I can still shoot baskets like I did in high school. Anyway I go in at 8:30 in the morning and should but won't have surgery until after lunch because I'm 4th on the list for surgery that day. CAN"T WAIT TO BE A LOSER!!!lol Wish me luck and please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. THANKS EVERYONE!

Well, I couldn't wait, wait, wait to touch base with my board buddies (lots of new people!) when I hit 18 months yesterday!! Life has been amazing since sleeve surgery and continues to amaze. But, just this week, it seems my weight is starting to creep up again!! The nerve! Do I really have to WORK now at this!? Lol! I know I do and I've known it was coming. I've been maintaining pretty easily since October of last year floating around between 153 and 157. Perfectly-Happy-Land in size 6's. Today I weighed in (still weigh every day) at 162!!! I'm a 55 year old female from the greater Kansas City area. I hope to be having my surgery in about 4 weeks!

Not sure how I feel about this. I realize there could be many variables leading me to this conclusion: 1. I could feel a little more confident and exude it 2. I am not wearing the same baggy clothing I was donning before. 3. I am actually a cute girl, maybe there's something to it. But anyone else notice a difference in the way people started treating them when they started loosing? Save humanity.

Would those of us who have had surgery please tell what you are eating in the week to weeks following surgery? I'm really curious about this especially when it comes to the protein. Thank you for sharing!

Hey guys! I'm ten days post-op and have lost 9 pounds since surgery day. This is on the low end but my starting BMI was 33. I only did the liquid pre-op diet for about 4 days beforehand and lost 3 pounds. Actually, I started this whole long process last summer, when I was trying to get the lap band but my insurance company denied me. At the time I was 215 pounds was 4 pounds shy of a BMI of 40. So they denied me even though I had high blood pressure and cholesterol. I was on meds for the BP but they required 3 meds for BP to be considered "serious enough." I was only on ONE. If I'd weighed 219 at my first office visit, they would have approved me regardless of…

All sleeved up... so I had surgery on Saturday afternoon ... and I feel good, came out of recovery with no pain no nausea, i keep asking was i really sleeved because i had no pain ..so far so good ... everyone here is really nice and the hospital is really clean... Just got the phone call from Banner Bariatric Center saying that I am approved. Once I get PCP clearance and the pre-op testing done, they will give me a date in September. My surgeon's testing includes blood work, upper GI, chest x-ray, EKG and pulmonary function test. I had a real fight on my hands to get the insurance clerk to even submit for authorization. Medicare is my primary, but I have Aetna for secondary. She felt like I should settle for the band and not waste her time--her words! So here's something stupid I did the other day. I had surgery exactly a month ago and decided to take my daughter to Sea World. I thought I would be ok b/c there are plenty of benches and some air conditioned places to sit in. I don't know what I was thinking b/c just now I can barely get around the block. However I've been sitting on 380 for 3 weeks and it's been driving me insane. I thought maybe if I got a really good bit of walking in I could break my stall. Well I did break my stall (2 pounds gone for the first time in 3 weeks) but I almost killed myself in the process. I just got home from the hospital yesterday and I must say I am doing better than I imagined I would. I have been getting in my water and most of my protein. I even had some zucchini puree. I am feeling stronger everyday. I must say however that the first two days in the hospital were torturous. My mouth has never been so dry and I have not been that sleep deprived since freshman year of college. I strongly suggest that you get plenty of sleep before you go and limit visitation to after the hospital. I hope this information is helpful to those of you about to undergo this procedure.

hey friends! Quick update. I arrived early to the hospital and to my surprise my surgery started early. I was in my room to see 1/2 of the noon news. I slept most of the day monday, I woke up every 3-4 hrs and would req pain meds then drift back off. I get this pressure like discomfort under my breast area that makes it hard to get comfortable. I was able to do i chips and sips of Water by late evening. This morning I woke up at 430 and was unable to go back to sleep until 6ish. I slept on and off most of the morning. I was discharged around 130 this afternoon. I took a nap once I got here, when I woke up i was on my stomach and in pain, i then threw up. Now I hav…

Had mine today. Not too bad overall, but for those of you who will have to have the upper GI - YUCK to the barium you have to drink! It was awful, I nearly gagged.

I remember after surgery we couldn't have celery because all of the strings. Well I'm 10 months out and love celery and peanut butter for a snack meal!!! Is it ok to eat it this far out????

ANyone interested in doing the JIllian Michaels 30 Day Shred with me? A few friends of mine have joined in and thought maybe some here would like to start it up too. Start date is August 1. The dvd is on sale online at Overstock and Amazon. Target has it on sale online I believe too and some stores have a sale on it too. My Target has it for $12.99 but I found it at costco last night for $7.99. I also purchased Jillians 6 Week Abs too and plan to add that in once I can move again lol, last time I did the 30 Day Shred it kicked my butt ha. I am hoping to hit goal at the end of this challenge, 12 more lbs to go! WOOT!

Not the best news from the tests, looks like I may have a eroded band, will not know if Dr. Aceves will be able to do the VSG surgery at the same time. Happy that I chose him as my surgeon tho because he has the experience to make the best decision! Hoping that if there is erosion that its minor and not in the area that will cause a problem. I am so excited. I got my date—August 23rd. Preop on the 17th. I am so excited. I am going to order more unjury shakes this weekend. Go to Wally World and get a Magic Bullet and a Candle Warmer. Yippee!!! Another plus was I received a check in the mail from the hospital that did my EGD--refunding me the 117.00 I paid them. I wonder how much the co-pay will be for the surgery.....thank God for overtime these last few weeks. Can I just say I AM GRATEFUL!!!! God is faithful!

(I say hoping because I am waiting on insurance approval for now.) Who else is out there waiting for the BIG DAY in a couple months?

The forum has changed for me today - things that used to be buttons that said what they were for now are pictures or have no words. Also, the quick reply option has quit working! Here's what I have found - the green circular arrow is reply and if you reply that way it works! I purchased the unflavored Protein to mix with regular drinks and it just makes the consitency weird and I mixed it with yogurt and cottage cheese - same thing. Protein shakes are getting old. What has everyone else been doing besides shakes?

I can't believe that tomorrow will be August 1st, and all the "August All-Stars" will be sleeved so soon!!! We are embarking on a life-changing journey that will allow us to be better wives, husbands, parents, friends, and people! Hi All VSG'ers So I am half way through my pre op clearances I have my endo tomorrow for my upper GI actually really happy about it because I always have heart burn. So I was all set to set my VSG for October! I am so ready! Well after mulling over all my options ie vacation time and stuff with work I have to wait until January because by October I will only have a weeks worth of PTO and my doctor wants me out for two to three weeks since my job is very physical and he wants me healed before I do anything. Hi Everyone, Well, it is almost here - the day that i have waited so long for - surgery day! I feel like i am at the top of the rollercoaster, just getting ready to go over the edge of the big drop - my stomach has butterflies. I have to admit, I am a little giddy with excitement. This weekend has been the longest in my life. I am scheduled for Monday morning and hope to be home by Tuesday afternoon. I will let you all know how it goes. I am getting ready to start week 6. I began at 417. I initially was losing 1 pound a day or more. I have been stuck at 380-382 for almost 3 weeks. I basically stopped losing weight after 3 weeks. I am tired of hearing it's just a stall. It's been 3 weeks!! I need someone to tell me what amount of calories I should be getting in.

I'd like to know if you all have set regular times that you eat or if you wait for hunger to eat. I know as time goes on hunger will return more. I have a friend who said it is important to eat at regular intervals and establish that early on b/c that way when you get hungrier you will already have habits set in motion rather than eating when hungry. Yet others believe in intuitive eating and waiting for hunger. Thoughts?

Hello everyone! A week ago I had my band to sleeve revision! I am feeling pretty good. However, when I swallow and something goes down I feel pain around the top of my stomach. It is right under my breasts right around where the esophagus meets the stomach. This is pretty much the same location where my band was located. Did anyone who has had a revision experience this and did it go away? I figured that it might be from swelling from where the band was taken out. When I asked my doc how everything looked when he removed the band, he said there was little damage, no erosion and little scar tissue. So, I didnt' go into this with a whole lot of damage. I…

I have everything ready except my bag for the hospital. I heard some ppl say that a c section is worse in pain and recovery than vgs, i hope this is true because I had no issues with my c section or my tubal a few years ago. Hi All! Yipee! Finally broke the barrier and I am under my lowest Lap band weight! I have been in a stall for a couple of weeks and it feels so good to get rolling again. You guys are so supportive, I really appreciate everyone of you! Now that I am nearing my halfway point, I am starting to think about my goal weight. Ana is my new tiny tummy. She is quite the little diva let me tell you. She grumbles when I put to much or to little in her. We are still getting acquainted but I think we will have a long happy relationship, Ana and me. All the waiting is over, I was sleeved on Wednesday July 27. So I got a call from my doctor's office this week. They are having to postpone my surgery by two days. I was so mad when I found out, but now have come to terms with it. I guess it is kind of a blessing because it will give me two extra days to recover before I have to be back at school. It is going to be tough, but I know I have much support here and with my family and I will get through. My new surgery date is July 27 at 6:30 am. I have lost a total of 14 lbs on my pre-op diet the last two weeks and I am so proud of myself! It is a great feeling and I know I will be addicted to it after I have my surgery. Hi all! I am starting on my VSG journey! There are so many emotions being so young and a young mother. I recently turned 29 and have had medical issues since I was 2 (arthritis and fibromyalgia). I have battled weight all my life and I am ready to make the change. I really thought I wanted to do the lapband, but after meeting with my doctor a week ago I am now leaning towards the sleeve. What made your mind up to go with the sleeve vs. the other options?

I'll be getting my procedure done in Cancun with Dr Verboonen. So far my experience has been good with Sheri Burke, the coordinator (actually excellent). I'll let you all know more as I get there and post-op!
