  2. Okay let's face it, when I was 330 Lbs I'm sure the only time a man (besides my AWESOME and FAITHFUL Husband) ever looked at me was to think... Wow that girl is really big!!! Of course I didn't get any comments but I could feel it. I sure was treated a certain way by men too. They were never polite and really seemed like they didn't even want to talk to me unless they absolutely had too. However, I've notice in the past few weeks I've been getting the "look" ALL THE TIME!! Men trying to get my attention anywhere and everywhere. Spiking up stupid and meaningless conversations and going for the "kill". However, as I point to my ring finger and tell them I am oh so…

OK. So newest studies say that single stage VSG patients on average lose 60.7 percent of their excess weight. It seems like I see mostly people on here that are still early in the process of losing, or have lost ALL of their excess weight. So do you think that people who use forums lose more than the average because of accountability or some other factor, or people who lose more than average are more likely to post? Where are all the people who make up the longterm (3-5 years) unsatisfactory weight loss percentage? I have not had surgery yet, but am almost done with my tests... I of course would like to lose close to 100% of my excess weight....60 would be MUCH better t…

Hi! While googling my issue I came across this site and love it!! I am hoping one of you can help me figure something out. I am 3 years out from my VSG and have been having terrible reflux, which leads me to eat a higher carb intake. Even water makes me burn. So, I have regained weight and at my follow up appointment I mentioned to my surgeon about the reflux and maybe resleeving. I had my upper GI today and in all my pictures my stomach looked like an hour glass. Very big on top and then also on the bottom. Is this normal? I can see why I am hungry all the time and do not get that full feeling anymore. The top portion was big! I'm not sure what to think. Does…

I've had SEVERAL surgeries in my lifetime....2 lapband, gall bladder, appendix, spinal fusion, C-section and of course the sleeve. I can by far say this is the best and easiest recovery I've ever had! I'm 5 days post op and have had minor discomfort..I wouldn't even say pain with my incisions. No gas pain or pressure, tolerating all my liquids no problem and have great energy. I had some nausea the first day but that is now a distant memory. I'm walking around my neighborhood 5-6 times a day, and yes...I'm resting too! I've been through a lot over the years, and I have this euphoric sense of relief and hope that this surgery is truly going to give me my life back. I haven…

I spent Friday night with a girlfriend drinking way more than any human should ever drink! I spent a whole day yesterday...eating what I could and recovering from Friday night Today I am doing my first day Pre Op diet. I'm already finding it to be difficult and day dreaming about things I would normally eat. Ugggg! It is mostly head hunger...but the shake definitely didn't fill me up. Guess that is what it feels like to eat to satiety instead of being stuffed like so many of us like to do. Let the learning process begin..... I feel a nap in my future

Hi everyone, I am currently 10 days post op from my surgery and I have to say I am already sooooo happy I did this. I was very successful with the band for 2 years and then started to have some complications. I had a slip and esophogal dialation. So that is when I started to consider a revision. So going into this surgery was much more stressful - the pre op diet sucked, I was much more nervous and stressed . But it all went very well and I do not regret a thing. My recovery was about the same as the band but I do feel like I am losing more right away. As a side note - When they removed the band they found the tube had embedded itself into the middle of my li…

I had my post op appt today and was happy that I've lost a total of 24 pounds. I lost 15 of those pounds since surgery and the others I lost on pre op diet. Today I can have real food which is really exciting . I ate some refried beans watered down with broth (the dreaded broth). I melted some cheese and used a little taco sauce. That might have been a bit too adventurous but I did it. I ate it without any problems but it didn't seem that filling to me. Plus I don't like the 16 grams of carbs so I think I'm not going to eat it again. Plus the taco sauce is good but has 2 carbs per tablespoon and that could get out of control. It was super tasty though for having n…

.....and it kicked my butt ! I even have a desk job! I was sleeved on June 27th so was off 9 days after surgery....but it was all I could do on my way home to keep driving and not pull over to the side of the road and sleep! And I only have a 20 minute commute. Anyway, don't underestimate what major surgery and lack of food takes out of you. If you can stay home longer, do it and don't try to be a hero! My only saving grace is that tomorrow is Friday already!

LOL I ams so nervous about the upcoming surgery... Went to get my stess test yesterday and they had my surgery listed as the 28th. I knew they changed it from the 27th to the 28th awhile back. The OR nurse called this morning and she said she had me scheduled for the 26th.... I received paper work for the surgery from the Doc's office today and it says the 26th.... I called to ask what day to show up and haven't got a call back yet.. I hope I show up on the right day... I know my Dr. likes to do all lap bands one day and all bypass the next day and all vsg the next day... Silly thought... what happens if I end up with the wrong surgery... I know that won't happen.…

Hi everybody, I am approaching my one year anniversary, 14 July. I have lost 111 pounds and am still 33 pounds away from surgeon's goal, 54 pounds from personal goal. I haven't lost anything in over 53 days. Around that time I started eating carbs again, baguettes from the bakery, chocolate, croutons, rice in my sushi. A month ago I began driving from CA to KS it took over a week so no exercise. Then it took a solid week just to move into the house so, no exercise. Then I started my new job which includes a commute so, no exercise. Finally at the end of my 2nd week of work I went to the gym and went to a zumba class but I am still making bad choices with my food, c…

My husband and I both had the Lap-Band the same day and shared a room together in 2007. We did well at first because we were afraid to eat much but we both found that as we introduced more foods back into our diet that we couldn't eat the healthier foods we needed to be eating, most lean meats, eggs, salad and many veggies without it getting stuck and having terrible pain after the 1st or 2nd bites. We NEVER felt full which was what we were told would happen with the band, so we just started having foods we could actually eat. Needless to say that over the next few years he gained all his weight back and I gained mine PLUS another 15 pounds. We are at our heaviest …

I normally do not tell people what size clothes I wore prior to my journey beginning due to being embarrassed. I should never have let myself get to that size - I guess it is what it is. I know everyone here has gone through the same things so I feel comfortable telling all you great people. I started out in a size 28 pants, 4X tops . I bought a pair of capri's to act as inspiration for me for after surgery. Size 20. I can tell you that today I am wearing those capri's to work. They are a little tight around my panni but other than that, they fit and I even have room around the waist. These are NON-STRETCHY capri's too. I am pretty darn proud of myself. Has …

I had lap-band in '07 and never did very well on it, and had lots of pain where the port was attached as well as everytime I ate anything. I was so thrilled when my surgeon mentioned the revision surgery to VSG. And this time my insurance paid for it !! My surgeon is Dr. Paya in West HIlls, but my insurance made me go to U.C. 23. My doctor was very frank about the increased leak rate for revisions. It made me scared, but I sorta thought... well, they''ll just re-operate and it will be fine. I have since been reading more up on it, including the horror stories from the forums and I realize that for some people, the recovery from a leak is a terrible ordeal. That is really scary and being a revision patient, a very real risk. My surgeon has done a number of revisions and I understand no one has died yet, but this is a serious issue for him - so I am coming to terms with handing my fate over to his skills and hopefully some decent luck! What is not satisfying is the acid reflux issue. I never h…

  27. I had to go out and get a smaller pair of jeans since mine had to be washed after every wear just to shrink it back down a bit. I started out in 22-24 depending on the brand and was still wearing those sizes since preop. I went to lane bryant and tried on a 20, and it was easy to put on, and loose. I freaked and grabbed an 18, and it went on just perfectly! Granted that Lane Bryant jeans size 18 are probably the biggest size 18s out there, but still. It has been quite a long time since I've been down to that size. It feels oh so good!

So as a way to get over myself I looked back in my weigh-in log book ( I weigh once a week and record it). It was looking back at the hard numbers that made me snap back to reality. Other "tools" I've used to get over such pity parties are periodically taken pictures, measurement logs and my "progress shirt" experiment. Good lord this is becoming a long post. Hi everyone, I'm 8 days post op and thrilled by the way! I had lap-band in 2007 and lost 50 lbs in 6 months but over the next 3.5 years gained back 15. I hated the lap-band from the get go... My main complaint was pain at the port site. Well now that it's been removed, that particular incision is so painful ! Everything else feels great but that one incision has a small knot under it and gives me so much grief and pain that I still take my pain meds and it kept me from going back to work today. I'm planning on calling my doc... Has anyone else experienced this? Any experiences you can share would be so appreciated! Thanks

I have a question - I got my band back in July 2002. Like a lot of people I lost weight the first 2 years, then stopped. I was able to maintain my weight for quite a while. But, 3 years ago, I had band slippage so bad that acid spilled into my lungs and solidified - it was as if I had double pneumonia but no infection. After 2 trips to the emergency room, I went in to see my 4th (?) doctor (the doctors move around a lot) and I was told that I had to have my band replaced. I was told that it would be like I had a brand new band and I would lose more weight and that the acid problem would be fixed. When they got in there, they found that I had a hernia, but they said …
