  5. Hello all. I just had surgery on Tues, June 26th. I am having the hardest time with tolerating Water.. or anything really. I can't get it down and when I do, my throat is on FIRE. It is killing me... then I have to stand up and stretch out to help the water go down. I don't have many more options as I am still on the clear liquid diet. I am semi ok w/ chicken Soup broth and warm decaf tea. G2, water, Crystal Light- they all burn. Jello seems good. Popsicles are a hit or miss. Meds are tough. Tomorrow I am to start 4oz oz od my Protein shake twice a day. I'm scared. I am on 150mg of Axid, 2 times a day. Not sure if this is acid or what? It just feels like I have chunks…

Well I'm going to be 19 in a few weeks. This is going to be the start of my new life.. I know that I am young, but I have always been the big girl.. I am 5'7 and weigh 292 now, So on July 30th I will be sleeved. At first I was going gastric bypass, but my surgeon told me that this was better for a younger person. If anyone one it can be a male/female. I don't care about age or if you are pre op or post op. But I would like to find both a weight loss buddy and a mentor if possible. I live in Connecticut(suckish) Texting is fine though. pleaseeeeeeeeeeee. Love Krissy.

I think this past weekend is the worst that I've had, since my surgery in April, 2011. Carbs were the order of business since last Friday. It was almost as if something inside of me broke. It's been a long time since I've been this far down. I just feel like I'm a complete failure....with everything. I have only lost 60 lbs since my surgery, and now, I'm about to lose my house. My mom, my daughter, and my two grandchildren live with me, and I'm carrying ALL of the bills, and buying the groceries, and I have the added bonus of cooking it, and then I get to clean up afterwards!! My mom had colon/appendaceal cancer, and had surgery in May. She is 83, so she is still recoveri…

  14. Now that i'm getting down to the wire and ready to book my flight to MX for my surgery, I find that I've kind of paused momentarily. I'm asking myself, "Are you really going to do this?" It's sad, but I keep seeing food and thinking I'll never again be able to fully indulge. One of the reasons I want this surgery is to lose weight because I want to travel. But part of travel is eating the local cuisine. If I go to Italy, i want to eat pasta! If I go to central and south america, i want the spicy dishes with rice. But I don't know if I'll be able to truly enjoy food again. This really is life-changing for me. On the one hand, I've tried for so long to lose weight. It's b…

  16. Hi this question is especially for the single mothers. I wanted to know for the moms who had help whether a relative stayed with you or you sent your child(ren) with a relative, how many days did it take you to return to mommy functions (i.e. picking baby up from crib, and regular interactions with your LO?) My aunt will be watching my almost two year old and I'm trying to have an idea of how many days he should spend with her, or any additional advice to help for when he does return home. Thanks in advance.

Hi all. I am on day 10 of basically NO bowel movement at all. I was told to go to the ER 3 days ago. After an embarrassing rectal exam, they said there was nothing "down there." They did an x-ray and said they did not see any blockages and sent me on my way with colace. I've already tried colace, Milk of Mag, Miralax, Fiber, several enemas, Water, moving, you name it. All I consume is Protein. My surgery was on the 21st of May. I AM eating. I am SO FULL. I can hardly eat, let alone drink my protein. My weight loss has nearly halted. Nothing is moving. I've already posted about this once, and it's getting worse. Has anyone else experienced constipation to this degree???…

I read a post from another member here earlier today and she said something about the amount she has lost, except she did not use the word LOST. She said released. I like that better, LOST means that some unlucky soul might FIND all these pounds and that would be just horrible. I really like the idea of releasing these pound and NEVER finding them again. So after tomorrow I will be posting how many pounds I am RELEASING, and I pray I can release them at a steady rate. So ladies and gentlemen, what do you think?

  23. So my doctor effed me up. She decided NOW that she wanted to treat my H pylori, and I feel only because my surgery date is this month and I persisted in making sure I had everything together. I saw her last month, and she made it seem like it was no big deal. So I have been taking my meds since Fri/Sat. I got a call today that I might have to have my surgery pushed back because the administrative assistant of my surgeon told me she cant send in my documentation until I am done taking the meds, and have retested for it. 24. We are coming up on our month 10! One year is just around the corner for us! Can you believe it? I'm down 4.2 lbs since my check-in on May 12th. Would love to see a big loss of a couple lbs in a week but my body just doesn't want to give it to me. I believe though as long as I am headed in the right direction I am satisfied with that. I changed my goal last week, I am being daring and setting it just within the normal range of my BMI. This is scary for me, I haven't been in that range at least since high school, very possibly junior high - so 22-25 years ago! I have confidence in this sleeve and I though, I know together we can do this. I did however reach 100 lbs down …

  25. Just wondered how all of those that have been sleeved are doing? I am doing fantastic. Keep wondering if Dr Kelly really did do a surgery as I feel so good. But when I go to stand up I feel a tiny bit of tenderness & then remember I did have an operation! Glad I can have some fluids now. Going to go out for chicken broth soon. Yum! My incisions look very healthy, but one is kind of looking a bit open, but not leaking or anything. So guess it is fine, but will check with the Dr. Have pain meds, which I haven't taken yet & will also check if I have to take them or only if needed. Then an antibiotic & something else for the stomach healing. So goo…

  26. Ok, So I am 3 1/2 weeks out. I have only lost just under 15 pounds since surgery. I have not lost anything since July 1. I actually went up 1.4 pounds. It is so depressing, but I know it will come off. I just compared 2 face picts of mine. The first was taken at Thanksgiving last year. The other was taken on July 4th. Even though I have only lost 15 pounds since surgery, if I look at the whole journey so far, I am glad to be where I am at today! We will get there!

AFTER ALOT OF CRYING, THE DR EXPLAINED THE AREA AROUND, ONTOP OF, AND UNDER THE BAND WAS INCASED WITH SCAR TUSSUE, INFLAMATION, AND TONS OF ABDOMINAL Fluid. Hi all - I am newly sleeved as of June 29th. Going through a gambit of emotions and wondering if any of you have been through the same? I am not quite to the 50 yrs of age yet, but damn, I feel like a teenager with all the thigns I am feeling since doing this! I have so much to say but don't want to scare anyone off so I will start with the question about emotions and see what happens from here. So happy I found this website the other day during one of my wits-end crying episodes. HAHA I miss my water...like I used to you be able to drink it...not sipping but taking a real satisfying drink! Looking forward to hearing from someone. ;0)

Today is exactly 2 months since my surgery. It was the best thing I've ever done!! I'm down 50 lbs total and 36 post surgery. Treated myself to a pedicure today because I was down about my divorce, there was a giant wall mirror. I have to say, today was the first day in a really long time I can remember thinking I look pretty good and not being ashamed of myself. I'm still 280, but at least that's not 330 anymore!!! And I'm starting to get quite a nice shape. Maybe happier days are coming.

  33. I belong to another group that were sleeved in May. People talk a lot about stalls and slowing down. My theory from scanning through the profiles and signatures that provide enough detail from members a few months out, is that you lose fastest the first couple of months but then things slow to more of an average of around 10 lbs. Can you comment to your personal experience? I feel that many are getting discouraged and may be expecting to keep up their 14 lb per week weight loss. How did your weight loss go? Thanks

  34. Started by wanderlust_76,

Ok, so I'm pushing to lose 11 lbs by July 25. I woke up thus morning, worked out for an hour, came home and ate 3 donut holes...really?

  35. So I'm told what I take after surgery cannot be bigger than a pencil eraser or it has to be crushed. So here's the issue, if I crush certain meds. that are bigger and put in liquid how can I swallow enough liquid when I hear about not being able to swallow (or drink enough to take all meds.) etc.? If you don't want to discuss here--I'd really appreciate a PM. Thanks!!

I am being weaned off of several blood pressure meds, am getting my protein and fluids in...any one else experience anything similar?

  40. Started by GetNSkinny,

Last night I had a severe re-flare of this pain. My previous experience was about 15 months ago. It starts and progresses very quickly. It is a very sharp, burning pain that is very constant. It is located directly between my breasts at the bottom of my sternum. This pain was so intense that I couldnt breathe, and at points I was writhing on the ground, moaning and crying. The only thing that relieved the pain was phentanyl, toradol, and dilaudid in the hospital ER. Has anyone else ever experienced this pain or anything similar? I am curious if it is related to my VSG or not. Thanks for reading my post.

Hi y'all...congrats to all the losers on the bench with me! I was sleeved July 3rd and was supposed to have my mom go this journey with me. She passed away unexpectedly in March and left just me and my dad. While he has been supportive of my surgery, he does not visit with me very much/often or check on me like I know my mom would. I have had a few friends offer to come by but in the "I really don't mean it, I'm just saying it" kind of way. Even my boss didn't check on me after surgery and has yet to! I"m feeling really alone on this journey and don't have anyone I can talk to. Anybody got a soft shoulder I can lean on?

  48. I took that nasty crap four hours ago and have not moved my bowels...anyone have that problem? Should I call the doc?

  49. I had one particular scale that came with a measuring tape. My son broke it (glass) and then I bought another. The newer one which has water and body fat on it isn't accurate so whats the point? It's usually 3 to 6 lbs off, and when someone is trying to lose that is not acceptable. I'm thinking about buying the one I had before, but want to see what you guys have. I just want accurate, I don't care for the bells and whistles at this point. I got both from amazon.

  50. I am not morbidly obese yet (34 bmi) but I have an extreme intolerance to heat. Even if I'm not doing anything my face gets so red I look like I'm sunburned, usually ending up in a bad headache. Even worse if I am exerting myself. Usually takes several hours to cool down and loose the sunburned look. I've only developed this over the last 10 years. Anyway.....has anybody seen any improvement with heat tolerance after surgery/weight loss? I've always assumed its because of my increasing weight, but after a day like today, I'm hoping this is one of the things that should resolve itself after surgery.
